Do I need to use the "Winter Particle Effect" setting in the game with this mod? Or is this mod essentially that setting?
JOЯDAИ Aug 22 @ 8:21am
Really helps reminding you it's winter for wars, also looks great. Thanks for the mod
Kurk Splatter May 4 @ 3:00pm
Thanks a lot for the update.

This mod does a lot for the game's atmosphere, personally.
ΧΡHΣΤΟΣ850 May 3 @ 4:22pm
Thanks alot it worked
TerraPass  [author] May 3 @ 3:59pm
@ΧΡHΣΤΟΣ850 Not seeing any issues with the names.

Most likely Steam hasn't updated the mod properly for you. Try unsubscribing from the mod, waiting a bit, then resubscribing again.
ΧΡHΣΤΟΣ850 May 3 @ 3:46pm
still removes names tho:(
TerraPass  [author] May 3 @ 1:31pm
The mod has been patched for CK3 v1.16 (Chamfron). Enjoy!
Damienos_ May 3 @ 9:44am
Cool
TerraPass  [author] Apr 29 @ 4:30pm
Yes, the mod is not yet compatible with the CK3 v1.16 update that's just released.

Said update contains pretty massive shader changes in regards to how winter visuals work, so it'll take me some time to patch the mod for compatibility.

I'll post a comment here when the updated version is available.
In the meantime feel free to remove the mod from your current playset to avoid graphical artifacts. You'll be able to safely re-add it mid-savegame after I upload the version patched for v1.16.

Using this mod makes names on the map not visible since last update.
Traubensaft [PTS] Apr 28 @ 11:00pm
somehow this mod makes the name of the Countries invisible (I do play with other mods but this is still the cause)
TerraPass  [author] Mar 30 @ 2:31pm
@Trident121 This mod is already integrated into Realms in Exile, so you should disable it when playing with that particular TC, otherwise you'll indeed get graphical artifacts due to shader conflicts.
Trident121 Mar 30 @ 11:21am
Causes campaign-map glitching when playing (with a bunch of submods) on the total conversion mod Realms In Exile. Otherwise great idea and execution!

Nice!

i notice no performance difference with a 3080 and 7800x3d FYI, not even 50mb more ram usage, so this is optimised very well for anyone wondering, awesome work @TerraPass
TerraPass  [author] Dec 8, 2024 @ 2:16pm
@Fennekii
The effect is pretty cheap framerate-wise. When making it, I tweaked its parameters until it had basically no measurable impact on my RTX 2060 laptop using DX 11 renderer.

But YMMV, particularly if you have a much older machine.

That said, the mod is safe to add/remove mid-playthrough, so you might as well just try it out for yourself, and remove it from your playset later, in case you're not happy with it.
Fennekii Dec 8, 2024 @ 1:22pm
how much fps drop?
crjunkins Nov 24, 2024 @ 12:22pm
This mod is, perhaps, just a little thing, but I confess--this mod makes me so very happy.
SAM Nov 17, 2024 @ 1:07pm
Genius
TerraPass  [author] Nov 17, 2024 @ 10:31am
Updated for CK3 versions 1.13.* (Basileus) and 1.14 (Traverse).

Enjoy.
SAM Nov 9, 2024 @ 12:13pm
Update?
Chriserereren Sep 25, 2024 @ 9:59am
I've always wanted something like this, but with northern lights
TerraPass  [author] Jul 24, 2024 @ 2:07am
No, it is not part of the base game. The mod specifically adds falling snowflakes in the air over the parts of the map where there's dynamic snow coverage. Said snow coverage on the ground is part of the base game.
Dizzy Ioeuy Jul 23, 2024 @ 7:20pm
it is
w1ldforss Jun 11, 2024 @ 12:25am
Is this part of the base game now?

Updated for v1.12.
TerraPass  [author] Mar 4, 2024 @ 12:43pm
Yes, map shaders have changed with the release of v1.12.
I'll update this mod within the next couple of days.
Rockinrimmer Mar 4, 2024 @ 11:23am
@TerraPass looks like this has some issues with the latest version of the game, I get a black background instead of the new table effect.
PhazezGova Jan 16, 2024 @ 12:09am
@TerraPass Okay I will, thanks for the explanation
TerraPass  [author] Jan 15, 2024 @ 5:52pm
@PhazezGova
If a mod doesn't have custom shaders (check for gfx/FX folder), it should be compatible.
PhazezGova Jan 15, 2024 @ 3:15am
Where can I check if the mod conflicts? I use two mods that target the map's graphics, such as B. Better Map Textures 2.0. Do I then have to look at “gfx” and compare, or how do I find that?
TerraPass  [author] Jan 9, 2024 @ 4:06pm
@Synyster There have been no shader changes since v1.9, so this still works on the current version, despite what the Launcher might claim.

TerraPass  [author] Aug 16, 2023 @ 3:23pm
@dgallagher4 Yeah, it should be.

I haven't tested it, but I don't think RICE has any custom shaders, so there should be no conflicts.
dgallagher4 Aug 16, 2023 @ 11:49am
Is this RICE compatible? I know I had to disable another texture mod because it wasn't compatible with RICE.
lustigersamurai Aug 7, 2023 @ 8:50am
I haven't tried it out yet, but I had to disable winter particle effects in the settings a while ago, as I was having some flickering UI issues and eventual crashes due to it. Seems like that's an issue for people using AMD GPUs.
TerraPass  [author] Aug 7, 2023 @ 3:53am
@lustigersamurai Not to my knowledge. Are you seeing problems with one of the settings?
lustigersamurai Aug 6, 2023 @ 10:04pm
Are there any graphical settings that shouldn't be enabled/disabled when using this mod?
mhrbnbngs Jun 21, 2023 @ 9:06am
I see, thanks for the quick reply!
TerraPass  [author] Jun 21, 2023 @ 8:51am
Indeed, this mod continues to be supported and is compatible with 1.9.2.

There haven't been additional updates since 1.9.0 came out, because since then there haven't been any shader changes in the game requiring such an update.
cuomo860 Jun 21, 2023 @ 6:44am
It still works.
mhrbnbngs Jun 21, 2023 @ 6:37am
I assume the mod is dead?

Cracktober May 19, 2023 @ 5:39am
I see, its a shame theyre in total conversion mods and not just standalone, as it'd be a nice effect together with this mod! Thank you for the answer, maybe one day Paradox will let us CK3 enjoyers have it as well!
TerraPass  [author] May 18, 2023 @ 6:16am
@Cracktober It would, and indeed such clouds are implemented in Godherja and a couple of other total conversions.

I'm just not fully comfortable releasing them as a standalone mod, seeing how it would basically be a 1:1 translation of a Vic3 feature to CK3, something I don't know if Paradox would be entirely happy with.
Cracktober May 16, 2023 @ 12:05pm
Just a curiosity question: Would it be possible to implement clouds as well, similar to those in Victoria 3?
hamletsdead May 13, 2023 @ 12:46pm
This is great thanks mucho for the update for 1.9! Is there a way to get rid of the yellow triangle (which basically says it hasn't been updated)?
Ole Cranky Gamer May 11, 2023 @ 2:11pm
Awesome TerraPass, your mod always reminds me to never start a war when I see snow lol
TerraPass  [author] May 11, 2023 @ 9:42am
The mod has been updated for CK3 v1.9 (Lance). Enjoy!
