This is a great looking asset and Natural Gas should be the next step up from oil, unfortunately it isn't. By the time you get access to this power station there are other, more powerful options open to you like the Nuclear reactor. If you reduce the positioning of this to be between Oil and Geothermal then this will a great addition.,
RubyRobbins Jun 25, 2023 @ 1:21pm
Thank you so much! This is amazing.

@chob slight correction: the natural gas is not usually used to directly boil water in land based powerplants, but rather in a combined cycle system. a CC uses the natural gas to first drive a gas turbine, which then produce hot exhaust used to boil water increasing energy efficiency and reducing the gas gas temp. this as you said produces CO2 and NOx pollutants. Great explanation otherwise :)

@Gerishnakov No.

Does this require oil resources?

@BEEN no, in real life, they do. The "smoke" you see emitting from the power plant is steam. Power plants commonly use steam to rotate turbines, generating electricity. In the case of a gas power plant, natural gas is burned to boil water, which produces steam, rotates the turbine to generate power.

The steam used to rotate the turbine is condensed for reuse in a cooling tower, although some "excess steam" is lost during the cooling process due to evaporation. The water can also be released into the environment.

The natural gas used to boil the water produces byproducts such as carbon dioxide; these byproducts do not simply vanish. Like steam, exhaust gas can either simply be released or collected via a process called carbon capture - keep in this process is not 100% efficient.

Additionally, procurement, storage and transportation all release methane which traps more heat than carbon dioxide.

Please don't be condescending when you are the wrong one

@nicolas no in real life they don't. The "smoke" you see emitting from power plants is excess steam. All power plants use steam to rotate the turbines in order to generate electricity. In the case of a gas power plant, natural gas is burned to heat water, which generates steam, which rotates the turbine, which creates power.

@Kridershot - Just want to say that I really love your Sim City buildings, they all look awesome. Please don't stop in adding more, especially with regards to residential, commercial and industrial. The other utilities too like the nuclear power plant would be awesome to see in CS as well as the varied Asian versions of all the buildings.
TheKillerChicken Dec 24, 2022 @ 3:01am
Oh yea, and the maintainence is ~17k, or something like that.
TheKillerChicken Dec 24, 2022 @ 3:00am
I love using the power generating station (in numbers) within my city. It is the most powerful one vs the retail ones and the price makes sense too. I am using a mod (I forgot which one it is) that increases the difficulty, prices, expenses, and slows down the whole demand simulator, so this plant is extremely expensive (~$2.6 million to construct) so I have been investing in a lot of stocks to be able to afford one of these, much less 10 or more. Awesome asset either way.
nicolas Dec 20, 2022 @ 9:34am
why is there no pollution, in real life these power plants do indeed pollute
Kridershot  [author] Dec 8, 2022 @ 2:34am
Psilocybe, I think the price and upkeep was defenetely too low, so I make it more like Nuclear plant but with a bit less stats.
Kridershot  [author] Dec 8, 2022 @ 2:30am
ORION, kaspergm, Here we go. Now stats are more balanced.
Psilocybe Dec 7, 2022 @ 11:46am
Please keep that stats as are, perfectly balanced
Psilocybe Dec 7, 2022 @ 11:44am
This is amazing!!!!! Thank you! Always comes to mind in the start do not know why, am i dreaming?
Kridershot  [author] Dec 6, 2022 @ 12:04pm
ORION, thanks! I plan to fix that within a few days.
ORION Dec 6, 2022 @ 10:10am
It is real nice except the stats feel like cheating

What the guy below me said! Simcity 4’s assets are honestly the reason I can’t give it up for C:S just yet haha. Very very nice work
Chosen One Nov 21, 2022 @ 10:46am
Bro this is sick, you need to add the residential buildings.
kaspergm Nov 19, 2022 @ 7:05am
Looks great, but the power output to cost ratio feels ridiculously imbalanced.
DroneFrost Nov 17, 2022 @ 2:23pm
This kind of building style is completely absent in the game. funny how after all these years we have no official style for both American and full round European buildings.
Thingemajig Nov 17, 2022 @ 8:02am
Cool
alex850112 Nov 16, 2022 @ 7:47pm

Looks really good tho !

Thank you so much for your work. These are a serious nostalgia trip! Honestly seeing them here they look much better than the base game CS buildings. SC4 always looked more realistic.

Blessed creation
