vorlon and shadows both have basically one weapon port, and though you can slot a few in that one spot (like 1 large, 2 medium firing from the same place) I've always been more in favor of instead keeping slots more limited and increasing rate of fire and power for those slots.
earth force for instance, has a lot of different ship designs and models and you could easily fill up all those new ship sizes with designs, but it's not like every empire is gonna be the same. and if they are then to me it's kind of boring. everyone just has access to the same things, no advantages or disadvantages.
i'd already been working on my own system in a larger mod. but interested to see what they do with them in this update.
likely i'll make these ships organic following the way they do it in this update.
and really I've been leaning in the opposite direction, to match ship sections with cannon weapons as closely as i can. for vorlon that would mean just a few forward facing energy weapons, but likely something like increased fire rate to compensate.
also doesn't help that paradox itself broke things-- the AI/auto builder for ships no longer uses aux components. which is pretty frustrating for a mod that uses a lot of aux components.
have been looking over new content to see if anything would be impacted, but nothing i see would. mostly I think it's all the race mods that are going to be broken for a while. but, this and other shipsets should be fine. so hasn't been my top priority (unless there's an issue)
the mod itself is more about diversity: each empire potentially using different weapons and defense/support techs-- each with unique graphics and sound-- favoring different ship sizes and mixes of fleet. so not only does each empire feel more unique, but you are less sure about going to war with other empires (what weapons are they using? will my ships hold up well against them? what about their defenses?).
But, I wanted it to be usable with shipset mods. so I've been building in comparability patches for mine and others. it also led me to add whitestar ships to vorlon for the mod, so early on when you're using semi-organic armor you're using whitestar. and then as you progress you'll unlock full organic ships (vorlon ships).
it's all very involved, lol... but, slowly making progress. hoping to have it up in the next few months as a v1.
it's a much larger mod I've been working on that adds a lot of techs for B5, star trek, star wars, and that old game master of orion-- all down mutually exclusive tech paths (tied to shipset, so you'll get the cannon weapons/techs of the shipset you're using). as part of that I resized and re-balanced ships, adding a lot of new hulls and ship sizes. both so size comparisons better reflect cannon size differences, and so ships better match their cannon weapons and such.
it made sense, as part of that, to give new techs to the fallen empires-- and I wanted to diversify their ship look and feel while I was at it. so plan is to add vorlon and shadow maybe as new fallen empires, one militarist and the other authoritarian (b/c lets face it, the vorlons were pretty authoritarian).
though, just doing that the weapons wouldn't fire from right spot and such.

a possible solution though, I just combined the earth force and vorlon shipsets into one mod and set it to only be visible to firends (and sent friend request). so try this mod, which just combines the two. and maybe just combining them together will help. idk. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2990751743

at any rate, I'm on day 2 of a 5 day break from work, so after I rest today I was planning on getting back into modding here. I can check to see if things are working and all that.
your issue though, it sounds like you're saying the game is crashing at startup?
Can I update the plugin?
Updated the game and stopped running.
Or is there a way to roll back the update?
