Hey folks, bits of good news and a little bit of bad news! The bad news first: We're delaying until June 27th. We just want one more week to test, finish tidying things up, and make sure things are all situated without rushing it out the door.

The good news is that this is a significantly smaller delay than I was honestly expecting when I first put this date down. You'll remember that I said June 20th was a 'tentative, non-solid' date, and I was really expecting to have to delay it by more than just a week!

We've made tons of good progress and I'm very happy with the direction things are moving in at the moment. Thanks for being patient with us!

Hi folks! Pleased to report that we made huge strides today in finishing some of the most annoying work. I'm not going to say anything more concrete than this, but we're hoping to release a little ahead of schedule~.

Now would be a good time to get those last minute requests into the Song Request Box, because I will be finalizing Encore's tracklisting and implementing it on Wednesday. When that happens, Encore's tracklist will be set for a while until it gets its first update a ways down the line. I particularly need songs from during or before 1993, but I will accept any that fall into the 1994-2004 range as well.

I'd like to make a small offer as well: Any one of five people who donate $10+ to the listed PayPal in the description will receive their own song, with minimal restrictions on genre/source and none on time period, included in the Encore pack as an easter-egg. For transparency: the Encore pack is a separate expansion pack that can be installed and enabled separately from the main mod. It has a lot of extra easter-egg tracks that go into the Easter Egg drop pool, which will include yours.

The final stretch of work is to commence tomorrow. You may see a release ahead of schedule depending on how lucky we are.

Now would be the time to send song requests. I have (or will, momentarily) re-opened the forum that existed for this purpose. Please send requests there, for inclusion in the upcoming Encore expansion pack that will add 150-200 songs depending on the number of requests received.

Our expectation is, at least for the moment, that the two systems will functionally work independent of each other as long as you use the sandbox settings to avoid any frequency overlaps. They are extremely different in execution even if they are superficially similar--to the extent that I'd probably run both concurrently myself!

@batsonline, amazing work, eagerly expecting this update, i expect it will work with True Radio Station, since it seems to have those dialogues for stations?

For those interested, I've prepared a set of samplers for the host dialogues from the upcoming update. This is the part of the mod in which I had the most creative expression and did something other than just cobbling together garbage code and begging Albion for functional code, so I'm eager to share it with you all.

Each host will have many dialogues like these, that will play sparely at routine and predictable times on a(n in-game) monthly basis alongside many other smaller dialogues. Tell me what you think!

The songs past '93 are toggleable, in that you can disable the pack and they won't show up. However, you unfortunately still have to download them--and there's a bunch of interconnected reasons as to why I don't want to make a fork without them, as much as I've considered doing so. Realistically, the 250 songs is not that much space--it amounts to about a gigabyte, which is a fair amount, but it isn't gonna' kill ya'.

As for others:

I will be resuming work on this mod in May, and expect the B42 version to release sometime in early June. We will be moving, and hopefully that will massively improve both my living situation and my workflow (i.e. the physical space I inhabit, it's actually really hard to type for long periods of time right now) in a way that will allow me to resume development.

@batsonline I'd be happy to manage those radio station genres if you add+DM me the spreadsheet. Sorting 1k songs would take maybe a week at most for me and I'd do it just for fun.

Also, are the 250 songs past '93 togglable?

If not, please make it so -- maybe even make a simple reupload of this mod but 'lore friendly', as 275 songs is a decent amount of 'wasted space' to my brokeass.

The sorting of music is something AI could *possibly* help with, given they should be able to recognize the music titles and sort them into categories you've chosen; it should help make the process a bit less tedious atleast.

Unfortunately, a huge part of it is not something that can be automated in any way because it requires human judgment. That is--constructing the radio stations and sorting MFTEOTW's massive amount of music into specific genre pools, among a bunch of similar stuff.

Depending on what it is, it might be possible to write a script to automate the changes needed; or if you're not lothe to do so, have an AI help.

Delays abound. The remainder of the work to be done is unfortunately hours of grueling and tedious busywork that I don't currently have the energy to do. I am trying to find the time to finish it but life's been rough lately. Just let it be known that this mod isn't abandoned or anything.

I'm extremely excited to see the features you have planned, and would be interested to follow behind the scenes.

When I first found True Music, I tried several of the top voted ones, but yours is the only one I found that by its core is truly time-accurate, with all songs at the same volume level, and with such a great pick of songs that it's unlikely you're ripped from immersion thinking "This is the 3rd time that song plays" or "Wow, it's obvious that the author of the mod was a metal head, because it's 70% 90's metal, and mostly bad ones at that"

I hope B42 hasn't been too much of a burden, I know it's been pretty different to mod for many of us, and hope that it's been easy for you.

Not only will the update bring compatibility with B42, but a truly staggering amount of new features and additions. I encourage anyone who hasn't to check out the patch notes I linked below, there is much to be excited for!

I'm so glad this will be updated. This is by far the best music mod. I'm using "True Music: Whatever" right now until this mod is updated. The music in this mod brought me so much nostalgia. Looking forward to the update.

So to interpret this for folks looking for a simple answer, once updated in about a month it will no longer be compatible for b41, instead swap out to the version that will be linked here.
If you just want the version for b42, stay subcribed and wait patiently.

EARLY NOTICE: When this workshop item updates to 2.0, it will only be compatible with B42 and will cease to be compatible with B41, which could have catastrophic implications for your server if you simply allow it to update.

Consequently, we will be releasing a B41-compatible version which will be uploaded as a secondary workshop item and will be linked here, in the comments, when it is released. This will be released THREE DAYS in advance of B42 compatibility sometime in late February or early March. Server owners and players will need to switch away from this workshop item and to the new B41-specific version, or risk having items destroyed on their saves when loaded.

Keep an eye out for when this switch is occurring. It is the best we can do to give you an opportunity to update; if you experience issues after the three-day window, well, too bad.

If you play on a server that features MFTEOTW, make them aware of this.

my boeing b-52 is on this mod

A little update:

MFTEOTW 2.0 was put on hold for quite a while for a lot of reasons, but I am looking to get back to work soon. We are near the end with most of what we have to do; I will soon be busy packing the planned Encore expansion and the Home Labelled expansion with additional music and finishing the remaining radio dialogue and radio work.

We will be looking into some solutions to True Music's current limbo state, but for the time being, assume that you will have to use certain unsanctioned True Music fix uploads until Tsar's return in order for this mod to work.

There goes my evening, I hope you feel sorry for ruining my afternoon, I was gonna blast some tunes while dropping some care packages in the exclusion zone, but now I guess I'll just have to watch some VHS tapes the news helicopter recorded a while back, heard they found a survivor - well, that there was a survivor - left in the zone.
My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.
