no sound
TPS Feb 1, 2023 @ 3:43am
When can we expect LHD version of this car? I have VR motion and RHD is very confusing to enjoy it.

There is an unofficial patch for the Caterham which makes imho the FFB much much better without raising the FFB level to absurd values : https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/caterham-academy.72446/page-30#post-1114324
vava74 Dec 15, 2022 @ 2:40am
@Stark 3D: I understand your complaint, but if you raise the car specific FFB, you can get it to feel good.
Doublephil Dec 11, 2022 @ 11:51pm
Cool, there is a small problem with the windscreen reflexion light by moment, depends the hour of the day in game
Starck 3D Nov 21, 2022 @ 11:43am
NO feeling in steering wheel, it's to light, VERY to light.
This car is unusable.
Studio 397, Are you doing this on purpose or what?
Update, update, update please update !!!
giorgetto giaguaro Oct 12, 2022 @ 12:31am
Sorry guys where can I find the template? Thx in advance!
borororo Sep 12, 2022 @ 1:19pm
Photoshop opens this file without problems.
MrBTCC_Server Sep 2, 2022 @ 10:25am
I have an issue opening the Caterham template in GIMP. I am getting the following error,

Caterham_Academy_2021_car.psd' failed: Error loading PSD file: Unsupported or invalid layer height: -1

Please can you fix, many thanks.
borororo Aug 30, 2022 @ 1:03pm
Cat is not the easiest car to drive in all the sims where it is :) No electronics, no aerodynamics, light and fast.
Rot Teufel Aug 30, 2022 @ 12:44pm
except for light ffb, seems that finally the car is drivable as it should.
MeGiant Aug 29, 2022 @ 2:27pm
I'm a noob at sim racing, but I can keep touring cars and formula 1 cars on track better. I spin all the time in this, you need to handle with extreme care. Seems off.
Matt260z Aug 22, 2022 @ 1:01pm
Why is the FFB so light?!
Sameer46 Aug 19, 2022 @ 10:27am
worst game dont buy it for your own helth
John_Reese_POI Aug 13, 2022 @ 7:50pm
Awesome, front wheel issue and ffb and physics issue seems to be solved. Feels and drives amazing. Want more stickshift cars. An updated NSX maybe?
borororo Aug 13, 2022 @ 1:33pm
Updated, but graphics issues are - material of front wings is single sided.
ttb57 Aug 13, 2022 @ 11:59am
S397 have said it was the first update to go up but something is bugged on Steam side.
OgurAchevR Aug 13, 2022 @ 7:03am
Issue with Steam Workshop?
Fred Owlpen Aug 12, 2022 @ 4:54pm
How can I update this content?
ttb57 Aug 12, 2022 @ 4:21pm
Think it's been held back for some reason.
pyney Aug 12, 2022 @ 2:56pm
same here also , its not updating
Dynamitry Aug 12, 2022 @ 1:37pm
Same here, still v1.0. No update.
Rot Teufel Aug 12, 2022 @ 1:06pm
i was happy to see finally a new free content for rf2, but instead i get a bad release. Car is quite too shiny, that every hood is white. The front wheels missing from cockpit, but avaible on all other visual is venial compared to physis. Car is awful to drive, i can't keep it steady on straights, wabbling costantly around the track. Bad response FFB response when turning. Wierd, because FFB is usually one of the highlights of RF2.

It's a shame that these new contents every 3 months are just because business model MSG dictates it (as recicle from their failed official license games), no matter the content quality...

So for now it's a big no in the actual state. I hope in a future patch.
nicholasraz2 Aug 12, 2022 @ 11:53am
No update for me either, still V1.00 in game and on workshop
Qrio72 Aug 12, 2022 @ 11:52am
new update just dropped but this content isnt updating?? anyone else have this?
Pokiou Aug 12, 2022 @ 8:24am
This is not how a real caterham drives... also why cant i see the front wheels and arches and lights ?? wtf
JParra Aug 12, 2022 @ 8:05am
What a disappointing car, with what I like this model of any motorization, and just going up in VR, leaning out and not seeing the wheels already turned my stomach, but then when driving it... more total indifference.

S397, I don't think it's a good idea to "give away" this kind of stuff, after so much paid DLC, it's better not to give anything for free than to drop this like crumbs.
MrSlow Aug 12, 2022 @ 12:42am
I guess the serious version of this with correct FFb and physic will be a DLC upgrade?
June5H Aug 11, 2022 @ 10:48pm
When using this vehicle, some tracks will end the game after 100% loading.
Broriaq Aug 11, 2022 @ 11:34am
I mirror the lack luster ffb, cant feel a thing when driving. Also where are the front tires? did not know caterham was a robin in disguise
djfil007 Aug 11, 2022 @ 9:51am
Appears the car is 1080 degrees of steering by default? Cause at 900 the steering doesn't match. Also mirroring other feedback about the FFB feels extremely light/soft (until you hit a kerb/bump/etc)... makes it pretty difficult to feel the car at all. Nice to see more free first party content, but this isn't going to be the one that saves rF2.
gus Aug 11, 2022 @ 6:04am
cars setups, are a standard for the car, for the game, it meens something or we must overwrite it ??? This , Im learning to drive it, great .
borororo Aug 10, 2022 @ 12:35pm
About the front wheels - as far as I know, a separate model is used for the cockpit view (not the one used for the outside cameras). I could be wrong, but that's how it was in rF1.
Cam213 Aug 10, 2022 @ 11:47am
It almost feels like there is no ffb until you hit a bump or a kerb and as others have said, the front wheels don't seem to be visible from the cockpit. Other than that it seem like it will be a great car to race in once those things get sorted. Can't wait!
borororo Aug 10, 2022 @ 11:20am
I think this will all be fixed in the very near future. And not only that - from the cockpit through the slits in the hood you can see the road :) That's not the main thing. The main thing is that this is the first official content, which implemented a gear shift with clutch pedal depressed. H-shifter fans rejoice!
JPL083 Aug 10, 2022 @ 9:37am
Oh god, and i was waiting for this. Absolutely garb.. at this state. Horrible to drive, floats and slides like on ice and so on. Dont see wheels from cockpit. And example tested in Donington, pressed space to skip formation lap, and my car plus some AI's just crashed straight on to the wall on the last corner before main straight. What an utter disappointment this is, was really waiting for it. But wasnt worth it.. I would be pissed off quite badly if this would have been paid content, not worth for a cent. Who ever desided to launch this, is on the wrong job. Total rework needed, ok work with the 3D model at least. RF2 could offer an unbelievable experience with this car alone, but oh boy.. oohh no! Remembering times when first times was testing the Formula Renault 3.5 and was just lapping on tracks lap after lap and how damn great feeling that was.
J-C™ Aug 10, 2022 @ 8:33am
My 1990 Citroën AX holds the road better
Erich 420 Aug 10, 2022 @ 3:53am
just...no
Wolke Aug 9, 2022 @ 10:12am
just move on
[GOMG] Cato Larsen Aug 9, 2022 @ 9:18am
Glad it is free. Thats a positive. Unfortunately it is close to the only positive about it. Chapman would cry if he saw what this turned out to be.

Very unresponsive on turn in, and ffb is giving you almost no feedback of what the car is doing.
Invisible front wheels from cockpit (maybe they are optional extra that we need to pay for)
Gearbox is.... just no.

Sorry to say, and I am a proper rF2 fanboi as well, but after MG took ownership, rF2 is more about getting out paid content than the game it self. BTCC content is awesome, no doubt, but as for the total package now. No. Hard to recommend. And We have hosted rF2 servers since it was released by ISI and rf1 since 2006.

Just the fact that you still have to own every car that is on track even if you only intent to race 1 car.... It is 2022 and you are going backwards.

Makes me sad.
Peter Stefani Aug 9, 2022 @ 6:24am
This version has a non-adjustable differential, and it has way too much Coast effect off throttle.
vava74 Aug 9, 2022 @ 5:32am
Raise caster to 6º to increase FFB feel as that will be the result of the adjusted suspension/steering geometry.
ArthurFox Aug 9, 2022 @ 3:36am
Agree - I've owned one of these for nearly 18 years (Rover K-series Academy) and the steering is unrealistically lacking in feeling - and that's with a DD wheel! Lack of visible front wheels is a shocking omission.

Gearbox works well if you have an H-pattern stick and a foot clutch - I find it almost impossible to use with flappy-paddles and a hand-clutch though.
Starck 3D Aug 9, 2022 @ 2:56am
No wheels display on cockpit view. No FFB feelling. Some update need... ;-)
Strava Aug 8, 2022 @ 11:23pm
Worst...steering...EVER!
Light, vague, floaty, darty.
Are the front wheel bearings loose?
Feels like a old Ford pickup truck I had.
It's kingpins were so worn out they had an inch or more of slop.
Lorenz Aug 8, 2022 @ 9:23pm
C'est un régal de voir apparaître se petit bolide, merci Studio 397
