Yeah I don't think it works anymore. The option is still there in the decisions tab, but when I click on it for the interaction to show, nothing happens.

The mod doesn't need updating to work, the launcher is just complaining because the version numbers don't match. I could upload a new version to change that but it seems a bit unnecessary tbh.

@radwilly1 It still works perfectly though, the nickname is just outlined and says "Friends and foes across the land know you as *Nickname*" doesn't need an update

@BDW this mod is now outdated as all nicknames now have a mouse-over functionality that explains what they mean.

I agree with @vfa, if only this mod had a interaction button of some sort that gives nicknames to certain characters in your game

This mod is PERFECT for Princes of Darkness, so glad to have found it. My only wish would be for you to be able to give people nicknames via a part of the GUI, so you don't have to switch to other characters if you want to give them a nickname. Top notch stuff otherwise.

Hi, if I acquire a nickname with this mod and then disable the mod, will the nickname stay?
I want to clear out the ridiculous amount of decisions I can do and make it a bit less overwhelming.

@Aerysedon No, I haven't coded such functionality since I didn't feel it was necessary and would just add complexity that could lead to bugs
@Riaman I have no idea, it doesn't use any vanilla files so it probably is but I haven't tested it.

is this mod compatible with more nickname's mod, that mod also has a game rule to give a random appropriate nickname.

@Lumbago Good news, I have removed the limit since it was such a requested thing.

I was apparently wrong when I figured that people would only need one nickname and preferred the decision list to be less cluttered.

@ManbokE I am currently sick with Covid so I do not really have the capability to work on any code so I can't tell you how much work it would be for me to implement that.

But if you want to give nicknames to other characters in the meantime you can just switch to them temporarily and use the decision for them.

I have no experience with modding CK2 but as far as I know the way I've done it in this mod isn't possible in CK2 due to the engine not having support for it.

I think I've figured out what was going on with your game. I was able to reproduce that exact behavior when I ran the game in a language different than english. I've copied over localization files for the other languages too so assuming that was your problem it should be fixed now.

I could add a decision to reapply the nickname if lost. The reason I added the limit was to not clutter the decision screen but it is true that it really sucks losing your custom nick just because the game decides to screw you over and call you "the Foolish" for failing a 98% martial check or something.

My nickname is displayed incorrectly (namely, like this, nick_BDW_custom_nickname 2) In addition, I do not have regular text in the event window, I only see this text: BDW_custom_nickname.100.desc
How to fix it?

Easy fix boys:
1) go to ...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1158310\2840747770\common\decisions
2) click on the textfile in there
3) search for the line that says :
is_shown = {
NOT = { has_character_flag = BDW_custom_nickname }
}
...and change it to
is_shown = {
NOT = {}
}
yes just delete that ♥♥♥♥ in there
4) save it and have fun (unlimited nicknames)
