also, this map forces me to get an Oculus Rift.
Try to restart the game? The textures are embedded in the file I believe, so they should be loading.

when i saw swindon on the credits wall in the spawn area, i was instantly reminded of the game 'amazing frog?' that was originally for the ouya console then ported over to steam the game dev's gaz and hal are in swindon themselves im sure you have heard of it? if not you should give it a go, though thats your choice but i still recommend you do.
