@Tussell, have you thought about porting this mod to the newer engine of HW2/HW-AE with the crispier graphics and the classes that play more realistically?

(From those two I would prefer HW2 as it has more realistic combat and additionally fog of war, which suits Hexen better imo)

@natopotter - The mod is called "Hexen: Beyond Hammerwatch" because it is a recreation of the 1995 game "Hexen: Beyond Heretic".

I can't recommend it. The maps are way too big, the monster sprites are generic old Nintendo, likely reused from other games, nothing similar to the original Hammerwatch. The soundtrack must also have originated from other games.

In re: the wolf chapel secret bug: I too have been nailed with this one. Sadly I don't know if there is a fix, or if it will ever be fixed.

I'm in love with this campaign! However I have run into a bug that I think will keep me from unlocking the final secret. I seem to have encountered a bug in the arena room of the Wolf Chapel. I'm not sure how to upload a screenshot or I would. When you enter the (secrret) arena room, the pillars come up behind you and close the room off. however, i died before being able to turn the knob or whatever, and when i return to the arena room, the gate is still closed and I cannot enter. Perhaps because there are still enemies there? Anyway, if there's anything I can do to get past this, I'd hate for all my effort in unlocking previous secrets to be dashed due to this bug. Can I perhaps edit the save file or the level somehow? or am I doing soemthing wrong and there's some other way to reopen the gate?

Small but important point, the intro calls the world Hexen, but that's not its name. It's correct name is Cronos.

I think the intention was good and its really nice that you tried a different way (I like the doom-boys as enemys) but the world is too big to be so empty :/ Never had a feeling of accomplishment while playing

Stuck in Act2 Darkmere: went from woods to cave to wasteland to Darkmere. After beating the boss, was forced to leave through the normal level exit, which hadn't been unlocked and now have no way out or forward: no golden keys.

@Volksvarg This seems unlikely but did you perhaps miss the one located in the Herisarch's Seminary hub map? Located smack in the middle of the main chamber.

Alright, so I'm at a complete loss.
A friend and I were playing this preety thoroughly. All was good, beat acts 1 and 2 with the secret level unlocked on both, good progress.

All that came to a screeching halt on Act 3: Heresiarch's Emissary. There are 12 pieces to the puzzle (AKA: 12 levers in all of the hub) in order to progress.
We have done 11/12ths of the puzzle. 1 Piece on Orchard of Lamentations. 1 Piece on the Silent Referectory. 3 pieces on each Wolf, Griffin and Dragon Chapels. For a total of 11.

We even went into the the secret level, Deathwind Chapel and got the Skull Key. And yet we can't find the last piece of the puzzle ANYWHERE.

Any help would really be appreciated, we're at a loss.

@Soleron Silver keys are located behind the doors on the perimeter walls of the castle, they open at certain times corresponding with the clock. Refer to the guide on accessing hidden levels if you need more details.

@Snake_26 To get into the castle look for a pass in the north portion accessible through the river. To get into the keep your must fix the clock.

My friend and I just got to act 4 and we cleared out everything except the castle which we cannot figure out how to get in. Also the houses below the castle of grief are broken you can get in through the windows. Please help!:)

GAME BREAKING BUG: Act 3 of Dragon Chapel, after holding button to let co op partner through the left corridor from middle part of map, died after they activated checkpoint within the corridor. After defeating enemies within the section we discovered because we are both inside, we are locked in and there is no exit switch like on the right side.

Dragon chapel bug regarding "sticky on" pressure plates still exists. The bug regarding the damage-less fire moat still exists, as well as no wall collision in certain "floor-less" areas.

There's a new unintentional, non-breaking glitch I found regarding the map. I need to change the title of my "Quirks & Bugs" but it's in Act 1 Guardian of Fire and stumbling upon it was actually by chance.

This map is definitley a legend and by and far my favorite, although i have one question:
What is the music in the final boss battle?
Also, you really need to rework the 4th act secret, as it was insanley tedious and the dungeons part ended up being a little misleading.

Very good map, would and will play again. Had to unfortunately modify some things which, we didn't want to but the crusher traps in Guardian of Steel and one of the Act 5 maps was to much for the person we had hostings internet to handle causing everybody else(just me) to fall minutes behind the host, this was a problem with their internet and not the map though. Probably one of the best maps we have currentl played even if I have a few grievances with some of the bosses and enemies.

@Munya I think with 2 people medium is best and with 3 hard. Those Dark Bishops can be deadly if you aren't careful.

@Averden If you hit both switches in the main room like you said you did it should have opened a passage where that water is in the main room. If not it is a strange but that I can't seem to reproduce.

Act 3. Could somebody help me to solve the last pazzle in Dragon Chapel (in center, above the green water)? I can't open way to that area. I used two gold keys and activated two skulls with yellow eyes. Also I activated buttons near red eyes skulls on the right and left side of map. Please, help me. I'm almost ready to give up.

@Reizan I can solve both of your problems with one piece of advice:
Take Yorik's skull which you find in the grave yard in Gibbet and put it on the headless statue found directly east from the starting point in Gibbet.

Hi tussel, thank you for for this mod but my brother and i are actually stuck in the act 4 :

we have actually 6 out of 8 puzzle in this act, we thin kthat we have missed one puzzle in forsaken outpost and one on gibbet because we have only one of it on these area.

In the forsaken outpost where they are the first puzzle on this area there is two doors that we can't open and we don't understand the enigma.

In gibbet directly at the left from the start there is a door that we don't understand how to open.
