I hope you enjoy :)
On the short term I will look into the unit model change, to be honest I just did not really know how to do it and did not bother learning but I'll do so after posting this.
I do not know why you were stuck as a duchy, that is not intentional. The mod does not change government rank so I do not know why that happened to you. I will look into it.
Also, forming Elbian with losing 3 PU (Hungary, Poland, and Lit) is just unreal.
Overall, this mod is fun. Just a bit annoying forming Elbian losing 3 PUs.
I feel like the mission tree is currently a bit too focused on conquest and getting claims. I would like to add a bit more flavour to the mission tree. I was also thinking about a custom disaster based around the religious wars that will reflect the difference between the (likely) more protestant German lands and the catholic Bohemian lands. Other than that I still might add a tag for the south German and north German confederation but I am not really motivated to think of national ideas, forming conditions and mission trees.
I think I will leave this mod dedicated solely to the Elbian Confederation. In the future I could make a collection of mods that add DoD formables.
I could quickly put a Dual Monarchy mod together that just adds the formable without any new ideas or missions before fleshing anything out further. Let me know if that is something you would be interested in.
Thank you for all the suggestions so far, I will create a discussion thread where you can post your suggestions so I can have all of them in one place.
I think this mod will remain centered around Germany so I might add some more form-able countries from DoD later like the Danubian Confederation and / or the League of Berlin. I feel like that will keep the scope of the mod manageable. Also I believe the Dual Monarchy is already in many other mods and the other European powers in DoD already exist in EU4.
If you have played using the mod please let me know what your experience was like and let me know if something is not balanced right or if bugs occur.
Good job!
