Councillor Side Effects Fix

All councillor events are firing normally as of patch 1.5.1.1.
This fix is no longer needed. Glad to be off service while it lasted.

For me all the events from all councillors are firing, so have unsubscribed from this, as it's no longer needed. Thanks for providing that fix while the bug lasted :)
G.Strategos Mar 12, 2022 @ 7:26am
@Mastigos
I think that's a vanilla bug.
Sword Saint Swallowtail Mar 11, 2022 @ 10:21pm
I'm disappointed that this mod doesn't work on Train Palace Guard. Game says that a side effect of Train Palace Guard is "Improved Knights" yet I don't get the +1 prowess the game files indicate should fire occasionally.

@Jones I'm not sure 1.5.1 patches the issue. I ran a 10 year test and only Steward effects was firing. Had a lvl 19 marshal, set to train commanders, but no improvements fired.
@Captain Wits This is true, DELETE SPOUSE FILE.
As a co-creator to this fix I feel responsible, but I have no time right now. I will notify fspades about an update.
Jones Mar 11, 2022 @ 2:11am
in version 1.5.1 released on march 10 2022, the following is listed in the patchnotes:
- Council task events should now fire again as intended
CMDR Knives Mar 1, 2022 @ 1:36pm
if you don't delete the spouse file in this mod, that causes the crashes.
ReMeDy Mar 1, 2022 @ 1:35pm
That's not happening for me. Check to see if there's a mod incompatibility with another mod.
Sapient_Pest Feb 23, 2022 @ 6:41pm
Seems to be causing a corrupted pop-up event constantly. Mod needs updated, methinks.
ReMeDy Feb 22, 2022 @ 2:57pm
Considering Paradox announced the next dev diary is in "mid-March," but didn't announce when an update is tells me this mod will be very much needed for an extensive length of time. You're doing God's work, fspades.
ReMeDy Feb 22, 2022 @ 2:34pm
Why does Paradox feel the need to lock threads when modders are actively using the thread to fix said issues? So annoying.
SpacePoon Feb 22, 2022 @ 12:37pm
What with this annoying pop up every few seconds? Honestly more annoying than the bug itself
Sir Tapkomet of Canterlot Feb 22, 2022 @ 4:56am
Update: seems to have worked, and the rest of councilor events are still functional
Sir Tapkomet of Canterlot Feb 22, 2022 @ 3:58am
Seeing a strange incompatibility with More Bookmarks+: every month I get a message that someone accepted my tribute, though the message doesn't show any such character, and my income surely doesn't change. MB+'s tributary system is broken right now, too, so...

Anyway, gonna try the fix BlackDouglas suggested
peequi Feb 17, 2022 @ 5:37pm
@Jeep91 Try this, it was made for the previous version but it might work. Look at post 24 https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/ck-iii-missing-council-marshal-events-more.1510618/page-2#post-28087329

About the "train commanders" task:
1/ the chance to improve commander/knight ("marshal_train_commanders_monthly_chance_value") is applied in your "on_monthly"\"liege" scope, but removed from the "train_commanders_success_effect" on_action, so the rate is correct (hte percentiage is applied once).
2/ the chance of side effect of 2%, multiplied by a further 9/16 of actual effect (350/800 weight is the "null effect"), is applied to "train_commanders_marshal_task_side_effects" on_action AFTER "marshal_train_commanders_monthly_chance_value" from your "on_monthly", so the rate is way too low.

I think that the solution would be to set the on_monthly chance to 100 (100% chance to fire) and put back the chance to happen in "train_commanders_success_effect", so that both "train_commanders_success_effect" and "train_commanders_marshal_task_side_effects" have a chance to fire an event, instead of the former overshadowing the later.
19Peej Feb 17, 2022 @ 1:11pm
@BlackDouglas, I followed that advice aswell.
Can confirm your idea works, no more random stoppage, and no random holy trinity event.
Cheers
BlackDouglas Feb 17, 2022 @ 6:47am
1.5.0.2 just dropped! Did it fix this issue? NO!
Paradox disappoints once again and so the work must go on.

@fspades I think its 00_spouse_tasks that somehow conflicts with some mods. Deleted it from the fix and had no strange events or effects (47 mods enabled).

fspades  [author] Feb 17, 2022 @ 5:07am
I'd expect any mid-sized mod like Holy Trinity to have issues with compatibility since it's likely they would do something with councillor tasks. I'm going to look for ways to make it more friendly with other mods in the future.
Classic-klima-euskirchen Feb 17, 2022 @ 1:10am
@Lwet Me too. The pope events pops up in dozens every other day.
19Peej Feb 16, 2022 @ 7:04pm
@Lwet
I am also getting that aswell, maybe thats why my game is stopping
Oaker Feb 16, 2022 @ 6:10pm
i have an issue where the new pope event pops up indefinetly after a few days. Maybe a conflict with Holy Trinity?
19Peej Feb 16, 2022 @ 5:12pm
When I use this mod my game keeps stopping every few days to process, then will go for 1-2 weeks (or any random), and have to stop and process, granted, I am using other mods, but when I turn this mod specifically off the game runs fine again,
FunGaming44 Feb 16, 2022 @ 4:24pm
I know its strange, I turned the mod off for now
fspades  [author] Feb 16, 2022 @ 4:22pm
@Jeep91 @tilarium my pleasure :) Be sure to comment if it works for you.
fspades  [author] Feb 16, 2022 @ 4:21pm
@FunGaming44 no idea. This mod only changes rearranges some lines related councilor side effects and as far as I can tell nothing should conflict with that mod.
tilarium Feb 16, 2022 @ 3:54pm
Thanks for fixing it. I'm have tempted to start a modded game and put a hold on my achievement hunting until the devs fix this. This is a game breaking bug for me and I think is deserving of a hotfix by them while they work on the patch.
19Peej Feb 16, 2022 @ 1:49pm
Thanks for this mod!
FunGaming44 Feb 16, 2022 @ 1:36pm
@fspades Hey quick question, with this fix active my abdication mod keeps firing off and people are abdicating all the time and I get the even all the time too, any idea what can be causing this ?? It's this mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2407516326 that keeps coming up
ChaoticSquish Feb 16, 2022 @ 1:35pm
i've already disabled every mod one by one, it's the game itself. once they did the fluer de lis patch the councilor events went away.
BlackDouglas Feb 16, 2022 @ 12:38pm
@fspades Mmmm, probably some mod in combination with 1.5.0 that causes no infirm and endless illness. Guess I have to disable mods for my next playthru.
Did u see any sinful/virtuous priests? I didnt.
FunGaming44 Feb 16, 2022 @ 12:26pm
@fspades Exactly like you said, I also looked at the codes and while the idea they had was a good one they didnt completely implement it, talk about half work done and not testing it befoe release smh. Still puzzles me how things like that even make it into a release without proper testing.
fspades  [author] Feb 16, 2022 @ 12:26pm
@BlackDouglas yeah I've also heard about some events simply not firing. I did saw infirm characters in my 1.5.0 playthrough though.
BlackDouglas Feb 16, 2022 @ 12:25pm
Deschain:Check out the thread on the forum bug reports for details on what fspades, michx0 and myself did.

fspades  [author] Feb 16, 2022 @ 12:24pm
@deschain they changed the trigger that checks for side effects for some reason and made it simpler in the scripting. The problem is their line doesn't work at all. I made it so it resembles 1.4.4 version.
BlackDouglas Feb 16, 2022 @ 12:09pm
I'm afraid there's more broken events in 1.5.0. Played for about 2 hrs just now, strange things happened. Nobody got the health trait "infirm" (causing a few characters to last more than 90 yrs) and my court physician, (the irony), was "ill" for more than 9 yrs before she died. It was pretty interesting and Im actually thinking of making a "more health traits and longer, more varied lifespan" mod. Goodies like: scaled illness, minor ailments and diseases f x migraine, allergies, gall and kidney stones and mild to severe dementia. Wont start that untill the base game gets patched though.
Lucas182 Feb 16, 2022 @ 12:05pm
you're right.. in almost 40 hours of gameplay i still havent seen those side effects. incredible how they managed to miss this.
Deschain Feb 16, 2022 @ 12:04pm
What is causing them to not fire and how does this fix it?
FunGaming44 Feb 16, 2022 @ 11:17am
Another oversight at paradox smh. I already had to make a fix mod for people to enable a button for the new court language adoption. Makes you wonder do they even test these things huh
