Yeah I don't know Unity config stuff either. I'm all ideas, not action. :D

You'd want to do AssetBundle work for the quantum ships you mentioned. I don't know how to use that though, and i can't model and not really animate

Your idea of actually adding the quantum ship forms as faces is very good though. I could see that. With TTS, one could go so far as having multiple states that trigger when a die is rolled. A die has a secondary state for each face that plays an animation and then flicks to the corresponding ship model to simulate the abstract game concept of "quantum probability ships" or whatever they're called. When you pick up the ship, it morphs back to a dice state. Fun to think about at least, and the scripting is definitely there to support something like this.

I'm not sure if you have the same edition as I do, but in my copy they are 20mm (standard 6-siders are 16mm) frosted translucent dice. They definitely stand out. Big monsters that you feel when you roll. I think they could have done even better, though. "Dice as figurines/moving components" are really a novel concept about as new as the dice manipulation mechanic itself. Quantum is a special case as it was a contest game that won on the contest's theme of "what kind of game can be made with dice that uses dice in an original way?" So my challenge would be, "how can dice become central components that are as visually and thematically interesting as minis, rondels, etc.?". Just something I've been thinking about as dicement (dice worker, dice manipulation) games are an obsession of mine right now! :)

You can see a dicement game list I am helping curate over at BGG:

50+ titles and growing.

What would you want from the custom dice? They're normal dice in the game, and tho i could totally see the images of the ships for the die's faces, you'd have to add values in the corner for movement/attack.

Can be done though, and at least i should add the names of the ships with the rotation values so each number has the proper name when face up

I own hard copy of this one, I'll try to track down aforementioned expansion. This is one mod that could really use "custom dice," since dice are such an essential part of it. Fancy dice. Hmm....

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying that none of the images are working and that they appear blank?

The black research cards aren't loading properly...

Um.. to use a Tabletop Simulator mod you have to subscribe to it here, then go to Workshop to load the game. It'll load everything for all the players at the table.

Yeah I realize that. I've been meaning to do it, but didn't get around to it. Thanks for telling me the right grid spacing.

Does that spacing also lineup well with the planet tiles?
Wrothmonk Aug 12, 2014 @ 1:34pm
Oh and if you take the normal white dice you can tint them yellow, so you don't need the odd looking chrome dice.
Wrothmonk Aug 11, 2014 @ 11:34pm
You forgot the white (defender) and black (attacker) die. Add in a grid set to 1.55 (X & Y), set the dice to allow grid snapping, and you have the perfect spacing so that the ships automatically snap around planets.
