For some reason, every time I use it, it transfer my ruler DNA to the target person. Am I doing somehing wrong?

Can I use this mod to copy the DNA from one NPC to then paste into the ruler editor later? Asking because I found a random good looking NPC that I wouldn't mind adding to my permanent stable of characters.

Does this only transfer the DNA from the ruler to someone else? I couldn't get it to work any other way. I wanted to take a character's DNA (not my ruler) and put it onto a different character that is also not my ruler. Does it work this way? If so, what are the steps? Also, this mod seemed really smooth and didn't add lag or anything, like you said. Thanks.

This is a cool mod, but is there any way I can paste a saved DNA string from reddit or my computed into a character in game? Copying existing characters is nice but it doesn't feel like enough to me. Plus I don't want just clones if I can help it

Amazing mod, love it.

But I have to agree with @krazzy Kracker 1, being able to copy from a dead person would increase QoL by a TUN since I often forget until it's too late to "fix" my heirs when I live past 80.

That or be able to paste DNA from clipboard like in ruler designer.

If you go into debug mode and exit, creating an autosave, you can use the char id to find and copy the DNA then edit in game portrait editor in debug mode, then copy the DNA from the editor back into the autosave and reload the autosave. You dont need to start a new game. I just wish there was a way to merge 2 chars DNA in this mod and copy that, or go into the the children part of portrait editor and paste 2 DNAs and then COPY one of the sample offsprings DNA. Needs to be an easier way to make appealing offspring and copy that DNA

@DZCup havent used it in forever, but cant you just use the portrait editor. ~ then portrait editor. it gives you the ability to save persistent as well. Its a bit clunky but it also lets you edit the faces better. I used to design my character there, save persistent DNA and the just paste that into ruler designer or just the dna to paste to some NPC in the save file

Brilliant. Ive seen others but have always been clunky. This works GREAT! No more save edits.

PROTIP: I'm not clear on CK3, but in CK2 the children more often than not would take after the spouse looks wise. Especially the males. The mom in normal marriage or dad in patri. So if you want offspring to get certain features, adding dna to the spouse might up the chances in CK3 as well

Wow, okay, I had to stop playing for a moment to applaud you on this mod. It just works. I was tired of my characters getting hit with the ugly sticks. Now, with this mod, I can hit with them with beautiful sticks. Many thanks :)

I was thinking if the DNA string variable could be shown in the naming widget where it could be copied and pasted manually. I'm looking into this but I'm not good with the code.

This is a great mod. I see someone else requested copy paste to clipboard as well. That would be a great addition as it's a hassle to modify save files.

@bla1516, you select the character via the character interaction. Simply find the character and click Select DNA Template in the Diplomacy tab, then you can paste that on to any other character.

@DR GOO, I've removed the interface and streamlined the mod. Simply select the character you wish to have as the template and then simply use the "Paste DNA" interaction on the recipient. This should work for every character in the game.

Thanks for the reply, it's no biggie - I guessed something like that would happen as there are simply tens of thousands of npc's in the game. Locally transferring dna is what I am doing like I said even if I have to move the char to my court, do the transfer, then using cheat change to the donated dna's lord and move her back. Have had no end of fun with this mod, although if you are up for suggestions :P :D

Make a control panel in decisions to turn off unwanted dna pools because lord dukes kings etc I wouldn't bother with and it takes up vital room on my selection tab. Good luck with your development on the mod and I look forward to any more features.

@DR GOO, I'm so glad you like the mod. Just few things I want to clarify: if your desire is to use courtiers from other courts as the DNA template, loading all of them into the menu at once has crashed the game. I had originally intended the mod to allow you to use any character from anywhere, but I found this to not be feasible. The count, dukes, and kings options are to allow for the most characters possible to act as templates without severely lagging or crashing the game.

That being said, I'm fiddling with different mechanics to allow for more character and player freedom when selecting templates and imprints. Any and all suggestions on how to improve the mod are welcome, as always. And thanks again for your feedback!

Now then...THIS is an amazing mod. Runs flawlessly, simple and quick to do BUT :P
I still have to "move to court" via cheat any would be char DNA donation locally. Which kinda breaks what the point of the mod should be as I might as well keep the char in my court and forget about my Frankenstein experiments.

Nice to mess with it to see how my kids will look all grown up + 100 AAA :D
However, a bit disappointed in the other 4 dna options (counts, dukes, kings etc) as this doesnt include female rulers (not that I saw any)

Now what would be perfect is to choose who you want to change, and then use dna from anyone, anywhere? I am not sure if this can be done, but still, a wonderful, useful unique mod.

any way you can make a DNA merger for 2 templates as 'parent' DNA for a 'offspring' with merged DNA that can then be used to replace a different character's DNA so that it looks like it's legitimately related to the 'parent's that were merged?

@Epicsvenne, @Lucas182, I've, hopefully, made the mod a bit more playable. I've divided the interaction up into four distinct ones each having different parameters in order to reduce instances of lag and crashes.
