I haven't had much time to conduct research recently, but here's the equipment of a USMC rifle company:
-228 Men
-Weapons: 102x M1 Garand, 76x M1 Carbine, 27x BAR, 6x .30 MG (not sure whether it was the M1919 or the M1917) 2x 2.36 inch bazooka, 3x 60mm mortar

Thank you. I'll adjust it

However, since CO2 each person can only use one weapon, I have to increase some number so that they can use Rifle grenades or hand grenades

Again, South Korean regimental organization mirrored that of the US, but lacked the Medium Tank Company and, in many cases also lacked the Heavy Mortar Company at full strength (sometimes the unit would be reduced to a platoon due to heavy equipment losses)

Unfortunately some of the documents describing the equipment allowance of some of the regimental subunits are unavailable in a digital format, so I can only include precise equipment allowances for the medium tank company

Here's some more info on US army organization at regimental level. A standard US Infantry Regiment was organized as follows:

1x HQ company
-285 men

1x Service Company
-187 men

1x Heavy Mortar Company
-191 men
-Three Platoons of four mortar squads
-Weapons 12x 4.2mm M2 Mortars, Unknown number of trucks and supporting weapons but unit fully motorised

-Medium Tank Company
-149 men
-Suborganization:
-1x HQ, Maintenance and Supply Section
-Vehicles: 2x M4A3(76), 3x 1/4 ton Jeep, 1x M39 Armoured Utility Vehicle or M3A1 Half-Track, 1x M32 Tank Recovery Vehicle, 2x 2.5 ton Cargo truck
-4x Tank Platoons
-Each: 5x M4A3(76)

-Medical Company
-212 men

-3x Infantry Battalions
-Each 919 men

Thank you very much !

This was the same with 41 Commando which was motorized throughout much of the Chosin Reservoir Battle.
Benniotto Jan 14, 2022 @ 12:49pm
Yes, they were usually motorized from divisional and regimental trucks. But this motorization seems to have been somewhat ad-hoc and came and went according to the whims of the divisional and regimental commander.

The South Korean rifle battalion organization appears to have mirrored that of the US, but lacked the recoilless rifles in the heavy weapons company and rifle companies. They also seem to have lacked the M1 Garand snipers.

thank you. Are they usually motorized by regimental trucks?
Benniotto Jan 14, 2022 @ 12:44pm
The organization for a rifle battalion was as follows:
1x HQ Company

-Weapons: 67x M1 Carbine, 3x M2 HMG, 5x 3.5 inch Bazooka, 49x M1 Garand, 3x Supply Truck

3x Rifle Companies
-Each 211 men
-Weapons: 3x M1919, 1x M2 HMG, 3x 2.36 inch Bazooka, 3x 60mm Mortar, 15x M1 Carbine, 132x M1 Garand, 9x M1 Garand Sniper, 3x 57mm Recoilless Rifle, 1x Supply truck

Just did some research on the US Rifle Battalion organization at the time. A new table of organization was adopted in the same month as Chosin, but it seems like the only changes made were a slight decrease in combat strength and administrative personnel. Either way, the US army units at the time had not implemented the new organization and were using the old 1948 organization.

I actually agree with you. All the Americans accomplished with this approach was to avoid losing, thereby turning the war into a bloody stalemate. I'll have to look into General Fang Xianjue and the Battle of Hengyang City.

This is not the countering tactics I envisioned. Ridgway's this tactic failed to gain a clear defensive advantage and reduced its mobility....
Benniotto Jan 13, 2022 @ 1:09pm
Most British units were, but 41 Commando was entirely equipped with US weaponry
3.1415926  [author] Jan 13, 2022 @ 1:07pm
thank you. I was thought they had more British weapons

As for countering PVA "human wave tactics," that did eventually happen during the Korean War, but not until after the Fourth Phase Offensive in 1951 when Douglas Macarthur was replaced by Mathew Ridgway. The tactic was essentially to abandon trying to hold a contiguous defensive line and concentrate units into smaller Brigade-Division-sized defensive positions. Additionally, mobile detachments were created to spearhead relief columns. The idea behind this was to prevent any single unit from being overrun by PVA forces during the night. When day came the mobile detachments would be dispatched to relieve encircled units and the US Airforce would concentrate on the now exposed Chinese units. While PVA forces could still infiltrate behind US lines, the effect of this was limited, as they could not be supplied easily and were vulnerable to daytime US firepower.

The rough organization of the unit was as follows:
1x HQ Platoon
~65 men
-Subdivided into administrative, motor transport, medical, and communications groups
1x Heavy Weapon Group (Patoon-sized)
~20 men
-Weapons: 2-3x mortars (81mm M1 and 60mm M2), ~2-4x Heavy Machineguns (M1919a4) and 2 AT Weapons (71mm recoilless rifles)
3x Rifle Troops (Platoon-sized, but treated as companies)
-50 men each
-Each commanded by a captain
-Weapons per troop (estimate): 7x BAR LMG, 10x M3A1 SMG, 13x M1 Carbine, 20x M1 Garand (each troop may also have had a 60mm mortar, but I am unsure)
Total: 235 men (confirmed size at the beginning of the Battle of Chosin Reservoir)

To begin with, I did a little research on the the British Army at Chosin Reservoir. So far as I can tell, there was only one British unit present--41 Commando Royal Marines. This was a company-sized unit that nevertheless was treated as a Regiment (it was commanded by a Colonel and a number of battalions and companies were attached to it during the battle). The unit was entirely equipped with American weaponry and was quite experienced, well-trained, and well-led (it had previously been engaged in a number of commando raids behind North Korean lines). It was one of the only UN units capable of matching the PVA's ability to march cross country.

I'm glad you like the Nanjing scene. Originally, there was a other version of it, which was called "breakwater plan", a tactic specially against Japanese human wave tactics.

But I found that this tactic would make it too easy to defend Nanjing. Later, I found that in 1944, Chinese general Fang xianjue used similar tactics in Hengyang City, using 17000 Chinese infantry to defeat 100000 Japanese army, resulting in 40000-60000 Japanese casualties. So I think if I make this scene, it will make the game less interesting.

I am considering that tactics in the Battle of Chosin Reservoir: 3, it will highly against the PVA human wave tactics, so that the US can safely attack the Yalu River northward. The weaker South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Netherlands, Greece and Turkey will play the leading role in this battle. It will proves that under reasonable tactics, the weaker army can still defeat a large number of experienced Chinese army.

The mountainous terrain of North Korea is extremely complex. It's very painful for me to make its map by hand. Nevertheless, I still want to make a defensive battle in Pyongyang, a hypothetical scene. Therefore, if possible, I need the preparation of France, Belgium, Canada, Philipines, Greece, Netherlands, Columbia, Australia, Ethiopia, Luxembourg, Thailand and Turkey, New Zealand, which can make the experience of using different units different.

Thank you very much for your willingness to help.

Hello.

For the establishment of almost all the United Nations troops participating in the battle of Chosin Reservoir, I do not have their accurate weapon establishment and their actual number at the time of battle. So I can only find wiki, the operational art of War IV and China Information.

I already have the equipment establishment of the US Infantry Regiment to company, but this is China's estimate and may not be accurate. For other formations, I can only refer to the 50-53 scenario of North Korea in the operational art of War IV, and assume that these troops are fully established

Hello, if you are still in need of help for this estab, please let me know what specific information you require, and I would be happy to do some research on the subject. P.S: I love your Nanjing scenarios.
