Has anyone noticed how weird and creepy the default cubemap is for source engine games like gmod? like where are the photos even taken?

It is sad that this mod is necessary. Most mappers don't even bother with the cubemaps. It really shows a lack of craftsmanship when building the cubemaps in a custom map is so trivial. The default cubemap only shows on models, not brushes

I'm glad this mod exists, because of the july 2024 update the cubemaps on GM_bigcity are now pitch black instead of the default cubemap it used to have. I was in the middle of a project too... Although different, this cubemap will allow me to continue working on my project.

The July 2024 update might have just finally fixed this:
"Replace default cubemap texture with the one map compilation generates by default - this only affects maps that are renamed after compilation, which used to make them look overly shiny"

Every time i kill an NPC theres like a hologram thing of the most recent frame of animation it was in

wow just typing mat_specular 0 in console realy did the trick ty ma man VertexlitGeneric now i can enjoi garrys mod with out every thing looking wet all the dam time it just strikes me odd that some one on the Half life 2 Team thought yea lets put Light Reflexions on every thing u realy can tell he was realy proud of that Tec he created . ty again

some maps have broken specular, just type mat_specular 0 in the console for maps where reflections are checkered

maybe its one of the addons i have installed but reflective props are checkered
