Hey hey! Brilliant work with this - it really needed to be in the base game, at least with a function to try to get around it, which is likewise historical. That said, is it currently functional with this latest update? Best wishes

I'm sad this hasn't been updated. :(

Yay! I'm waiting in sweet anticipation. Hopefully Spain won't self implode in the meantime.

It's coming! I'm just working on smoothing some things out before I publish.

Since the DLC has already come out, do you think you will update this mod again? None of the incest mods are updated and I'm watching as Europe goes downhill genetically. It's gross. Help!

Sorry for not updating, but I decided that I won't be trying to get this mod to full functionality until the DLC/update drops because there's a good chance it'll mess with the files that this mod needs to edit, and fixing it after the fact will probably be a massive pain.

Again, sorry! But I'm a complete noob at modding CK3 so I'd rather save myself as much pain as possible.

The rule against incest was certainly followed throughout CK3's time period. There were 0 uncle-niece/aunt-nephew matches in all this time and no more than 4 first cousin marriages. It is not that the papacy actively worked to stop incest; nobody was even keen to marry such close kin. So yes, this mod has it right. If only it worked.

So I finally understand what "twice removed" means in a family tree thanks to you. It would be awesome to have a mod that tells you what a family member is to you. King Henry "Your second cousin once removed" - this and one in the family tree menu.

The question is not whether they made between 4 degrees taboo, the question is whether or not kings would follow those rules, which was hardly ever. lol. This was a time when Christian Nobility would still be taking concubines after converting to Christianity for many generations.

People make the incorrect assumption that papal law was absolute and even enforceable most of the time. The pope did not have absolute power simply by virtue of not being able to enforce it, and before 1000AD had a very decentralised structure.

well wouldnt it be Heresy to say Incest is okay since its clearly condemns in the Bible and Church Fathers thonk

Thank you for doing this! I've bugged the devs for *years* about implementing this as a game mechanic for Catholics/Orthodox Christians (of course, also with ways around it as many nobles petitioned for permission to marry within the prohibited degrees later in the middle ages) - it mattered a lot for quite awhile, and there are many notable marriages that never would have happened had it not existed.

these kind of mods show that ck3 is the peak incest simulator

@garthurbrown From my understanding, degrees of consanguinity are counted by basically drawing a line between you and another person on a family tree, only going via parent/child relations.

So, your parent is 1 degree away, your sibling and grandparent are 2 degrees away, your great-grandparent, aunt/uncle, and niece/nephew are 3 degrees away, and so on. Does that make sense?

I'll add a chart and better explanation in the description anyway lol, it's kinda weird

>I'll probably expand this mod to add a new doctrine for the seven degrees in the future.
YES YES YES YES YES FINALLY
I've been too lazy to try it myself, and every mod I've seen with a name that implies it just applies Close-Kin Taboo to existing faiths instead of adding a new, more restrictive doctrine.

What is a "degree" of relation?
