@Makk basically what BeetlePie said. You'd need to go to areas you haven't visited yet to get books with the reduced page counts or simply spawn them with console or a mod.

But other than that, it's completely safe, it won't corrupt your save or anything.

@Makk I noticed it doesn't actually work in mid games. Books that already spawned before installing the mod remain with the vanilla number of pages. If I spawn a book from the console, however, the mod actually applies. So I guess a new game would be needed. Otherwise you can only add books to your inventory through commands for it to work.

Does it work in multiplayer? And is it safe to add mid game?

I thought it didn't work, but it's just that the mod applies pages reduction only to books that hasn't been picked up by the player before installing the mod. So everything works fine .

What I was lookin for

The mod used to include mechanics skill books, but like you said, something probably got shifted around in an update.

@lancekro I don't know if I'll have the time to fix this mod soon, so if you make a fixed version, you can either send it to me and I'll upload it here (with credit, of course), or you can post it yourself, and I'll link it from this page (just be sure to mention me on your mod page)

While making my fixed version of your mod I saw that you are missing the "WorldStaticModel = " lines.
I'm not sure but I think that without those lines you either can't place books in the world or they wont have models if placed in the world.

@domitomi Hi after playing for a while and going throug a lot of bookstores and other libraries I realised I could not find any of the mechanics skillbooks.

So I went through the mods I have that modify anything related to books and Yours was the only one that touched the "items_literature.txt" file. When I compared your "items_literature.txt" file with the game file I saw that yours does not have any of the code for the mechanics Books/Magazines but the game file does.

Then I saw that you have the code for the mechanics Books/Magazines in the "vehiclesitems.txt" wich I also compared to the game file and it does not match either.

So i'm guessing that the architecture of the game has changed recently.
Should be an easy fix. I'll try to fix this for myself while I wait for you to update.

Great mod by the way, a lot more balanced that most of the other reading mods I've tryed.

@Rick Grimes did you install it on a game already in progress? If so, you need to loot areas that haven't been explored yet, or spawn in new books. Existing books are not changed.

after 2021.01.07 update, book, magazine, newspapers were removed in game. could you check this problem please?
at new server, only add faster reading mode, same trouble happened

Only with default books. I had to change them all manually.

Does it work with custom books that are added by other addons? Or only with default?

Yes, it only works on books generated after you installed the mod. Try moving to an area you haven't explored yet and looting books there. Else, you can try downloading Cheat Menu and spawning in the books you already own.
