Hi could you please make a mod that only increase the moving speed of full cavalry troop? Or please tell me which code in this mod made this possible? thanks a lot.

Hey I was looking into integrating this mod into my own MP mod (for my friends) and as I was looking into the mod files I noticed that the "global_modifier_value = cav_to_inf_ratio" doesn't seem to be working anymore (maybe Paradox changed how it works?). Any idea of solutions to this?

Nice! I liked the way this gave at least *somewhat* of an incentive to having more balanced armies. I love this game, but the combat is pretty garbage; it boils down to 'how many cannons can you build.'

Having inusfficient support flipped around to being a positive is super creative and actually makes sense to me, props for doing the work to balance that out to the late game

I don't have that many hours with this mod, but I appreciate your effort with improving cavalry. I love cavalry, though many people see it as a waste of money and it saddens me when people say that. Good luck with the mod :D

instead of being over the cavalry ratio giving a bonus, instead it should be that being 20% cavalry gives a +10% shock damage received modifier and being over the cavalry ratio, lets say 35%, gives +10% fire damage received. additionally you should make it so cavalry is always on the flank instead of in the middle of the line like it is in vanilla.

@razor, this is likely caused by me making being above your cav ratio show a green + in the battle screen with this mod enabled, to reflect that it's a good thing. i could possibly make a separate version without this though (or just remove it altogether, it's just for looks anyway)

@Akira AK, i don't know of any incompatibilities as far as game stability is concerned.
what doesn't work as intended is that anbennar has many different ways of gaining cav ratio, which will make it harder to gain the benefits this mod is supposed to allow for. (cav is still way better than normal either way though)

pls add compensation on the horde idea set. it gives 50 cav ratio so instead of having the usual 20 i get 70

@historica, ETs changes to techs makes this mod apply tweaks at the wrong points, so i wouldn't recommend using it. idea variation technically works, but the cav-to-inf modifiers there are not reduced, so it gets harder to get the tactics bonus.
i'm thinking of re-doing the cav-to-inf ratio stuff for next week so that it's more plug-and-play with mods that add that modifier.

@lansones, it very much should work fine, it's all tied to events and defines tweaks so there isn't much in there that can interfere.

@memesRBest, @Dr. Gazooks, current all government + religion effects (+winged hussars and cossacks estate) to cav ratio are compensated for so that you will have a ratio of 20% at the end of it.

I think I'm confusing myself. The vanilla number, I think, >50% cavalry in base game gives penalty. With this mod, does 20-50% cavalry give you a bonus? Is that what the red cavalry number means? I'm associating the red text with something negative. Is the >50% cavalry penalty completely removed with this mod?

I'm also not sure when the number of cavalrymen in your army turns red. In some armies I have very low numbers of cavalry and it doesn't turn it red and give the tooltip about Protected Flanks, but in others where I have less than 20% cavalry it does. What triggers when this color changes to red?

In vanilla if you have more than 10% cavalry in your army you are penalized. (Isn't that the number; I can't remember.) Therefore, I can have an army of 9 infantry and 1 cavalry without penalty. However, if I make it 8 and 2 instead, I get penalized. In your mod that would give me a bonus instead. But say I really want 9 infantry in my army. In the regular my army only has to be size 10 to not receive the penalty. In your mod, if I want 9 infantry and want to get your bonus I have to add 3 cavalry and make my army size 12 instead of 10. That's what I mean by this mod requiring larger combined arms armies to get that bonus: the more infantry you desire the more cavalry you have to add to get that 20% cavalry level.

@finarfin, if 20% or more of your side in a battle is cavalry you will gain +10% tactics, this is an incentive, along with the fact that cavalry are slightly stronger than before.
i'm not sure what you mean by vanilla having a preferred cavalry fraction of 10% though, in most scenarios cavalry is thrown to the wayside as the benefits are outweighed by their cost to performance inefficiency.

To clarify: this mod increases preferred cavalry amounts from 10% to 20% of your army, yes? At 20% or above you get a bonus, even if cavalry exceeds the amount of infantry? For example, in a 10 regiment army I should have 2-10 regiments of cavalry to be 'normal'? Is there penalty for having under 20% cavalry? Is this realistic? Doesn't this favor increasing your army sizes so you still have a good amount of infantry? If I want 10 infantry regiments I would now need to have an additional x number of cavalry (more than vanilla) to get that 20% ratio.

@HeresyEndsThisDay, in vanilla going above the limit results in a -25% tactics for the entire side of the battle. A big issue is how it will ALWAYS use the lowest ratio of the participants, and as a result even if you have 100 cav ratio, a single regiment of vassal/allies infantry will make your horses faceplant into the dirt.

yes that would be interesting , and would bring more work i think. I like that idea and this mod , just give you my rough idea. Since it was released just 3 days before , i have full patient , and trust that you can make it a nice mod (already a nice mod that changes the situation of Cavalry). thank you for doing this ,and good luck for after work

I dont understand what the boni do exactly, the new limit for cav ratio is 20% and if im above that i get a tactics bonus instead of a malus for cav combat ability?

@无铭 that is also a very interesting concept for dealing with cav ratio!
but before adding that i would have to ponder quite a bit over what would be fair to grant as buffs (or possible debuffs to other aspects?) without it seeming like i'm trying to force a playstyle through it.

@无铭 the localisation thing is mostly a consequence of it being my first time ever making a mod. i tried editing in the lines in a different file, and nothing happened. and if i did the same file name with only the replaced lines everything else was gone. i'm just not aware of how to do it properly as of yet... :steamsad:

and your localisation (eu4.yml and text.yml) contains all vanilla sentences , which will cover other languages' translation . could you please try to deal with this?

i made a test just yet , playing one country with 70% ratio(one other mod's country) . I used 100% cavalries and there's only the 10% tactic buff. Maybe enable the country's cavalry power change with its ratio instead of deal with ideas that change ratio is easier to be compatible with other mods

I haven't really played countries with ideas about c-t-i changes yet , just this point came to my mind after played with this mod for a while . I just think that c-t-i ratio shows how one country relies on , or can rely on cavalry , and that should let to stronger cavalry power and less cost. If you have set the compensation , then all thing's fine

@无铭 yeah after playing a game with it their normal base cost seems fine now. so i'll hold off on changing that.
there are modifiers in place to make 'most' modifiers granting cav-to-inf ratio compensated for. is your idea to let different setups have differing ratios required for the tactics, but in return get other effects to diversify things?
