yeah i was really new to lua when making this and still definitely am lol but ill see when i have the motivation to if changing the damage decrease to a multiplier helps

I screwed around with this mod again for various reasons, and I think I know what's up with the damage. It seems to be reduced every opportunity it gets rather than just once per run. So her damage value very rapidly diminishes. She seems to lose damage every time she enters a new room. However, obtaining more damage seems to temporarily counteract this effect, so having a succubus possibly maintains her damage? I don't know how much lua you actually know, but I think it would be better if you gave her a damage multiplier reduction instead, like the one soy milk(or eve's mascara/sacred heart, except a decrease rather than an increase) gives.

So turns out your mod somehow causes lilith to spawn in with a damage value of 0.50 no matter what, but stepping into the succubus field for the first time permanently buffs it back up to it's higher value. The inner machinations of this code are utterly beyond me, and I must concede before I have an aneurysm.

Ok so I gave it a shot, and as far as I can tell your damage modification code is completely dysfunctional. I didn't do anything to it, just her starting items, and suddenly her damage was at 0.5, rendering her completely harmless. I'm just going to try deleting that entire chunk of code and just roll with the decreased starting hp, because I don't have the experience needed to repair it.

mostly, yea. if you look at any docs for the api its easy to just make changes to preexisting lua for the game. https://wofsauge.github.io/IsaacDocs/rep/ (if the link gets removed, look up "boi lua api docs github," should be the first page). the hardest thing would be changing the damage modifier because it requires a callback. removing/changing/adding any items i give to lilith at the start in this mod is very easy though, which youll probably see if you look at the lua file.

Unfortunately I know nothing of programming, though I'd like to. Is what you suggested easy?

overall youre probably right but the main thing i wanted when i made this for myself was the fantasy of really being a demon broodmother. if you wanna change the balance at all you can just edit the mod’s lua because i dont have any plans to update it so your changes wont be overwritten (or i could make an alternate lua file next week [im out of town and typing thris comment on the mobile app] with your proposed changes if you dont know how to do that).

You could probably just get rid of the succubus and she'd be fine with (properly) lowered damage. Losing that black heart is a fairly big hit. I know you don't care about the balance, but having it be a fair fight makes it fun, and you're so close.

This is a really neat mod, but the damage change isn't functional, and the succubus is absolute overkill. Considering that lilith has all these along with her old incubus, you could honestly afford to nuke her damage. It's a shame you can't just replace the incubus with twisted pair, as the pair *feels* a lot better in comparison. Depending entirely on a trailing familiar for damage is balanced, but it's also annoying.

@DamageMaximo and i tried dropping it and picking it up inside and outside of succubus aura as well, but every time it was correct at every moment. i really have no idea :(

So she starts with her damage - 0.75, when I grab vibrant bulb it makes the damage go down to 0.5, if I go inside the succubus aura, it makes it work properly even if I leave the aura but when I drop the trinket now without anything else changing the damage it settles down on 0.5 and when I go into the succubus aura it makes it normal again, if I grab the trinket while at the 0.5 dmg nothing changes except for all the other stats, I tried making it work like a multiplier and the same thing happens, but maybe I did it wrong

well after testing it myself, vibrant bulb gives me a proper damage increase actually, so now i DEFINITELY have no clue how i could fix the issue there

@DamageMaximo what the frick uh i have no idea where to start on fixing that. i can get to work on figuring it out but i have no idea how long itll be until the fix happens

Oh this is an awesome mod! I've never found Lilith to be fun simply due to shooting from the incubus. It's pretty annoying not shooting from your own character.

Adding twisted pair but decreasing the damage makes her actually fun and balanced to me! The other changes also make her character far more interesting to me than she previously was. This is an awesome mod!!

@GB i tried asking for help with how to change a base character's damage on reddit and got no help so im not surprised this sort of thing happened. i think i can fix that problem though thanks for letting me know
