well I wanted to actually have both versions but I can't play with them with giant text on my screen :steamsad:

I picked up the character because of how great his animations looked and because i thought the character looked like my OC. I can state after spending 4 days learning him, that this character is so much fun, and he is a force to be reckoned with if done right. If you want an offensive build for quick KOs, my personal set up of specials is Burning Fury as neutral, Ember Fist as side, Accel Blitz as up, and Chasm Burster as down. This build allows Bar to, quite literally, KO due to comboing after getting even just one hit on your opponent. If this comment gets noticed by the makers of this character, I will personally make a steam guide to cover the character and their combos. Lets get this one up there bois

This is an amazing character, I adore the concept and the character feels delightfully weighty and powerful. I think this character is a little rough around the edges at the moment, still needing some tweaks to make him incredible, but how smooth he moves, how good he feels to control, the mana system, how damn satisfying in general this character is, I sincerely can't wait to see the finished product of this character.

i didn't manage to find a way to reply to people's comments here... so i am putting up a comment myself!
i have been working on tweaking bar after i have recieved a lot of feedback for a lot of the problems that i've been told personally, on the rivals discord servers and this comment section.

currently i'm working on some new moves that people have told me i should add, so it will take me a bit of time... but worry not! i will release another beta (or as i like to call it - a "gamma") as soon as i finish the things i want to add to it, so you guys can play a much more accurate vision of him!

i have been kinda active on the extended workshop discord server, showing some bits of what i do every now and then, but i'm sure that this next version will be a lot nicer to play! :steamhappy:

p.s: the new moves i plan currently include:
B-air
strongs
and 2 new special moves (which means i will also work on the special move/skill selection!)

This character seems fun and has a ton of potential, and I really look forward to future developments, but there are a few things that could maybe be nice for quality of life features

- Since forward and back air are the same move, it would be nice if you could use the C-stick to do turnaround forward airs rather than only being able to do it with the attack button.

Also like a lot of people said, a lot of the character's normals feel stubby and sluggish, especially forward air. With how slow the move is, I'd probably make the strong hit last a bit longer and the weak hit stronger

I also noticed he can't cancel the connecting hits of his jab combo into tilts like most Rivals characters can.

this character is incredibly fun to play BUT his hitboxes are really small, the small windows for sour and sweet hitboxes feel a little too punishing and/or hard to hit consistently, maybe extended the hitboxes for every move just a bit? everything else is fine and seems to work fine except for the short hitboxes, other than that, you did a great job making the character look really appealing, i have no idea how much time you spent on the animations but theyre smooth as heck

Such a cool looking character with a cool moveset that I'd legit be interested in commissioning a character from you if you were up to it. Loving the art style and how smooth the animations are and even the color schemes too!

I've only played about 10 or 15 minutes, and i really really love their animations and their moves, but the lack of range and amount of startup, along with the timing on their moves' sweetspots being pretty tight, make him feel pretty bad to land moves with. His sourspots also add on to this by being very bad lol. I love the idea a lot though, and I'm excited to see him finished!

So, the character has poor feeling range and even worse effective range due to the weak hitboxes of his attacks being very prominent and a little too much in my opinion. Shardclaw covered it best, but I think a big reason that contributes to why his range feels so poor is because his attacks with relatively good hitboxes (Up tilt and forward tilt) have a LOT of start up and end lag for being smaller than Forsburn tilts.

You could make him feel a little better without reconstructing his hitboxes to make some of them come out faster, but you will need to touch them later. His best normal currently, without exaggeration, is his up air, because it's a decent hitbox with decent start up, even if it deals 5%.

Outside of that, the character shows potential, the mana system is neat and encourages up close confrontation. The default spells he has currently are great fun and I look forward to seeing his full list of them later on.

2 problems.

This character has some cool mechanics, but has a number of flaws that make him suffer. His starting short ranged attacks mean that any character who has sufficient range (at a minimum, Clairen and Shovel Knight) can keep him from building mana, and it isn't hard. Ranged characters (like Elliana and Absa) practically never can be hit. Other more melee characters just win (like Zetterburn and Maypul) due to their reduce knockback and own rush down abilities, and the others can just combo him with ease. Without any early access to his kit, and no longer ranged jab moves, he is practically a sitting duck until he can get up enough mana, which at that stage, you're getting thrown off, and you have to waste it on recovery. I like the concept, but he needs survivability until he can get enough mana (or perhaps giving him some sort of starting amount, like 50%).
