Hello everyone. I finally found a little time to do what can be done: introduce a companion app. If you download it and fearlessly run it, the translation mod will work.

I have considered using some more generic proxy app to avoid the SmartScreen and antivirus and other issues you get nowadays when downloading a random executable from the internet, but in the end it would have been just as complicated and impossible to assess for typical computer user that I just made the app.

A friend of mine has harmed players too many times by launching hacking attacks. So Klei somewhat restricted modding options, thus killing great mods like this one. But I'm glad he decompiled and rebuilt the game for me so I could continue to use this mod 😅

do you think its possible to make a server mod that gives people an in-game config menu to change their language? I hate joining a server that I had the impression was English but then as soon as my character tries to inspect something they say it in like arabic or something bruh

This mod is broken after Klei changes related to the recent hacking campaign. I will investigate, but it is possible this mod may never work again.

Mod doesn't seem to work with incoming chat characters (chinese/korean/Japanese), but works with latin alphabet (french/spanish). Nevertheless, It works fine for outgoing messages for any language.

How do I enable the mod? It is not displayed in the game

Also check you have set "your language" as Chinese in the mod setting.

Why is nothing showing up on the chat screen when I enter the text I want to translate? When I use "en:你好", "Hello" doesn't appear on the chat screen.

It might be possible to add DeepL API, but you need to register for a free account and provide a credit card to get access token (similar to Microsoft Azure), is it still worth it to you?

Can you concat also the transcription of the original message in addition to the translation?
