UPDATE: With the addition of the music player in the free Basileus update, this mod is now obsolete. Please instead use the main version .

YESSS THANK YOU

I WAS CONFUSED WHEN METAL STARTED PLAYING

Thanks for making this. Adds more good music to the game. The music levels seem perfect to base game music.

Base game music right now is very limited and the tracks seem to repeat, this mod is great adding in those addition tracks. All we need now is for PDX to add in a music player so we can skip songs.

did 1.8.1 ruined this mod?:steamsad:

Does this mod replaces ck3 music with ck2 music or just adds to it?

FUCKING LEGENDARY MOD

I don't think I heard any of the songs

You are a godsend

@Æðelwulf - It could be tracks from the Orchestral Horse Lords DLC. I didn't remove them from the mod's repertoire because it's not, strictly speaking, 'metal'. I have provided a tutorial HERE which you can follow to remove it.

Why are there random bits of dubstep drums and weird sounds? I can't really do this one
Zalym Feb 21, 2022 @ 1:43pm
Thank you, I'll grow accustom to the new music soon...maybe. And I'm sure they'll add more, but atm the CK3 music just doesn't feel great to me, but that could be years of CK2 talking.
Thanks

UPDATE: Old cultural triggers, made obsolete by Royal Court , have been updated and songs should now play correctly again.
ManicMayo  [author] Oct 2, 2021 @ 6:04pm
@Jakoporeeno - Thanks! If you want to restore the vanilla main menu music yourself, it's actually pretty easy.

All you should need to do is open the mod's zz_CK2_music.txt file, located in Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1158310\2362491960\music by default.

Once you've opened it, simply rename the main_theme_track entry to anything other than what is already listed in the mod (I'd recommend just calling it ck2music0 if you're unsure). After that, save it and you're done!

Note: Simply deleting the main_theme_track entry will work to restore the vanilla CK3 theme, but it will also remove the CK2 menu music from the game entirely. Use the above method if you want to continue to hear it when in-game. You will also need to do this any time the mod is updated (though it shouldn't ever need updating).

Hope this helps!

This mod is awesome. I would however prefer if the music for the loading screen when you launch the game was the theme for CK3 rather than CK2, since we get to hear CK2's theme during the gameplay unlike CK3's theme track
Thank ye kindly

Awesome!

UPDATE: Cultural, religious and geographic triggers should now be fully implemented. No longer should you hear Indian music when playing as Alfred the Great (unless you somehow made him a Hindu and/or moved his capital to India). Apologies for the delay!
Charles Mar 30, 2021 @ 2:49pm
Thanks for the great mod!
Something important was updated with patch 1.3: you can now add conditions for the music to play:
"*Allow mood music tracks to have an is_valid for it they should be considered when picking the next track.
*Allow mood music tracks to weight the chance of being picked."

@x86God - Yep, that's all you'll need to do. The only problem is that, especially if you're playing on max speed and/or as the ruler of a large realm, the soundtrack will be constantly interrupted by event popups to the point that you'll never hear more than 60 seconds of any given track.
torbgod Mar 24, 2021 @ 5:16am
What if I kinda want war declarations and event popups to interrupt the music like they do with the regular CK3 tracks?

Is it safe to assume that it's a matter of changing all the can_be_interrupted fields in the config file to 'yes'?

I like the event\war declaration music and I also find that by default it usually ends up playing over the current track anyway so it just sounds weird.
Royal Raven Mar 16, 2021 @ 4:57pm
@Langhar, this mod is fine. It will be with many releases.
Anarchaz Mar 16, 2021 @ 12:29pm
1.3?
Gigachad12 Feb 10, 2021 @ 3:53pm
Very nice
ManicMayo  [author] Feb 2, 2021 @ 5:49pm
Unfortunately, I don't think it's currently possible.
Aelius Feb 2, 2021 @ 1:40pm
The main menu music is not looping like it should. After the CK2 main menu theme is finished, it moves on to another track. This is not how it was in CK2. Is there any way you (or I?) can fix this?

Cheers.

UPDATE: The tracks should no longer be constantly interrupted by event popups or war declarations.

Be aware that if you've removed Orchestral Horse Lords using the posted tutorial, you will need to do this again!
jackrobbo56 Jan 22, 2021 @ 8:27am
So basically this is the version for idiots
AGS Jan 21, 2021 @ 8:27pm
thank you for removing the heavy metals songs

Good to know that I'm not the only person who thinks metal in a medieval game makes no sense.
ManicMayo  [author] Jan 17, 2021 @ 7:05am
I've just posted a (hopefully) useful tutorial HERE which you can follow to remove Orchestral Horse Lords yourself. Hope this helps!
