Do you have any blood/gore mods enabled? if so, this might this might cause it to freeze or kick you to desktop. that's what happened to my friend last year.

uhhhhh when i kill a headcrab my game just up and dies. i spawned one in for the first time, it bit me, i shot it with a MW2 revolver, a blood splatter appeared for a very small amount of time, then it just quit to desktop. help?

slow zombies also come in a burned corpse variation, was this intentional?
