r_manual_stereo_ui variables now include pitch, yaw, x, y, and distance. (The ones ending in _game modify the in-game UI elements.)
Better VR Route Adviser
Noted that it is not ideal during the day until I add the background layers however it should generally be fit for purpose until I get that ironed out. For now I would like to work on this current event and not stare at the .sii file anymore.
-- ui
---- adviser.sii
---- adviser_oculus.sii
---- multiplayer (folder)
------ multiplayer_adviser.sii
------ multiplayer_adviser_oculus.sii
Changes on non-multiplayer files seems to have no effect in-game. I copied the contents of multiplayer_adviser.sii to multiplayer_adviser_oculus.sii and the adviser moved to the right. Still far from an ideal place for me to be honest as it stays in kind of right-middle, I would want it on right-down. With the recommended changes on config.cfg adviser sits on right-top-ish.
Yay I guess!
Probably the easiest thing is to download an existing UI mod for flatscreen, extract it and see how they have done it and try to replicate the process with the oculus sii file. I'm really surprised there aren't many VR UI mods considering there are clearly several flatscreen ones that really make nice adjustments to the adviser.
And now I appreciate even more the heroes of mods!
I tried a handful of stuff and could not get one single change to happen to the adviser. I even tried deleting the whole file content expecting it to crash in some way, but nah, it keeps showing up in the same position for both oculus (adviser_oculus.sii) and non-oculus (adviser.sii) mode. I know mods are working because I turned one of them on and off, and I saw the change in-game. Oh, and I tested with only this mod turned on, so I don't think there was any interference.
When you have time mate, I'd start with making sure the game is loading the file from the mod's folder and not from the base.scs. For me it seems to ignore the mod completely. But I'm new to this, I could be mistaken of course.
I will have to put some time aside to look into this so a solution will not be immediate, I have not had much time to play the game in the past few months let alone work on the mod and now apparently problem solve the slight changes to how it works with 1.41. I will see what I can do though as it is just awful when the adviser is right in the middle of the screen.
Fortunately the author (thanks heaps mate) explain how the mod works in the description so I went on the search for that adviser.sii. There is no adviser.sii file on my system. I then found two adviser_oculus.sii that happens to be one for ATS and one for ETS. On those files I picked a specific string "advisor.area" and I searched for that string in all *.sii files, and found nothing. I've been searching "advisor.area" on my whole system and found nothing interesting yet. Apparently there is no adviser.sii that we can copy from on v1.41, I wonder if it would work to use adviser.sii from v1.40 as base. If anyone has access to that file it would be a good try.
