Until then, I have two alternative versions of the mod. One uses the coloured terrain mode [ mods.paradoxplaza.com ] at closer zoom levels and the other uses the detailed terrain mode [ mods.paradoxplaza.com ]. You should find these nicer looking, at the cost of some performance.
A couple of people mentioned that there's no easy way to tell which holdings you own on the map. I'm going to work on this today and see what I can do. The other option is to use the paper icon in the top right to see all of your holdings or to look at them from the realm view.

One thing is that you can't click on your realm to see your duchies, you'd have to manually click on the province and search around for your duchy leader
The original image file is already at the correct size of 8192 x 4096, and I could upscale it to x2 but if you tried to use that I think it would break the game unless you changed a ton of other stuff, like provinces would be out of line etc?
Best would probably be to simply redraw all terrain features like forests/mountains/rivers in higher detail.
