I think you should add chain links between the cars like in real life

This train is great however its spawning weird on Bad Peanuts' sunken stations dlc
Serenity Rune Dec 11, 2021 @ 11:48am
@The Heavy Sex Guy the R188 is not being made.
brockets Nov 15, 2021 @ 12:40pm
how about the R188? i know it's the same thing, but for any sound mod would be cool.
Serenity Rune Sep 11, 2021 @ 6:41am
This metro set is best used with the Train Stations DLC pack, as the underground stations in this pack are very useful and could allow the train to not overhang.
Serenity Rune Sep 6, 2021 @ 7:19pm
The seats are 45+50+50+45 per set. Usually a 5 car set would have 45+50+50+50+45 = 240 seats. A 10 car train would have 480 seats.
dgrad598 Aug 9, 2021 @ 11:06am
Do you do any Boston Subways? if so can you add the blue, orange and red line 6 car trains?
Serenity Rune Aug 9, 2021 @ 11:03am
The R211 has already been made, so this is no longer necessary.
Gas Station Coffee Jul 26, 2021 @ 10:54am
Do you have plans on making the R40 Slant? Your game add-on's are awesome as always.
bsquiklehausen  [author] Jul 22, 2021 @ 10:46am
@gnomedbyamonkey - Yes, eventually. The B division fleet will be the R46, R68, and R160. The R143 and R179 look too similar to the R160 for it to be worth making a totally separate model. After the current fleet is done, then I will look at the R211, R32, and R42.
gnomedbyamonkey Jul 22, 2021 @ 10:34am
Hey! This quality is great! Are you planning on potentially adding some other vehicles in the fleet to this too? (R68, R42, R179, etc)
bsquiklehausen  [author] Apr 3, 2021 @ 10:24pm
@novaj.florent - this model combines the better looking parts of the R142 and R142A. I do have plans to remake the rest of my trains, though I won't get into the specificity that you had (there's no reason to make 5 different R160s - I almost certainly won't even differentiate between the R160, R143, and R179 since they're so similar). The 211 and 262 will happen when they enter service or testing.
bsquiklehausen  [author] Mar 16, 2021 @ 2:48pm
@dgrad598 - Interesting! Unfortunately adding audio would require me to mod in an entire speech synthesizer into the game, which is not possible with my skill set.
bsquiklehausen  [author] Mar 15, 2021 @ 2:32pm
@dgrad598 - What's the name of the mod that has custom station signage? That sounds very cool, and it'd be neat to support it officially.
dgrad598 Mar 15, 2021 @ 11:22am
When are you including the local train announcement with the R142 and R160? also, someone here came up with a mod that displays the names of each station when the train arrives, was wandering if you could add audio to it so it announces each stop I name. ??
bsquiklehausen  [author] Mar 15, 2021 @ 10:20am
@dgrad598 - there is with Extra Vehicle Effects installed. It's not incredibly loud, but it's there.
dgrad598 Mar 15, 2021 @ 8:53am
Wish there was screeching on turns with the train
bsquiklehausen  [author] Mar 14, 2021 @ 7:11pm
@j4lambert - those recordings are super cool, but sadly not quite right for me to use for these assets. Since it's so hard to accurately map sounds to acceleration in this game, I am going to stick with the default metro sound effects for now.
Serenity Rune Mar 14, 2021 @ 5:29pm
The traction motors for the R142 utilize a 380 Hz-665 Hz-1290 Hz progression when accelerating and then switch to an alternating 1430 Hz-1235 Hz progression during late acceleration and cruising. At higher speeds a single 1235 Hz sound is made. The entire progression is reversed while braking, although under most circumstances the air brake kicks in during the 665 Hz portion of the sequence (resulting in the 380 Hz sound not being heard). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhnxXwO_zAM
dgrad598 Mar 8, 2021 @ 11:46am
That would be awesome is you could do a regular R160 local train
bsquiklehausen  [author] Mar 8, 2021 @ 11:30am
@dgrad598 - I will do an R160 local eventually, and R46/68 expresses.
dgrad598 Mar 8, 2021 @ 10:44am
bsquiklehausen- I already have the regular r62 wich dont hold enough passengers and thats why I was wandering if you could also make the R142 or R160 with the local train announcement???
bsquiklehausen  [author] Mar 8, 2021 @ 10:05am
@dgrad598 - Use my R62 for a local train!
dgrad598 Mar 5, 2021 @ 10:04pm
Hey author, can you make a local train too??
bsquiklehausen  [author] Nov 20, 2020 @ 10:10am
@dgrad598 - I am looking to add door closing sound effects at some point. You can already get corner screeching if you use both Vehicle Effects and Extra Vehicle Effects, as well as braking sound effects. Station specific announcements are sadly impossible - there's no way to get the train to recognize the name of the station it is stopping at, and implementing a speech synthesis effect would be extremely difficult or impossible as well.

I do plan on adding this same degree of custom effects to the rest of my subway and passenger trains.
dgrad598 Nov 20, 2020 @ 9:58am
Hey These trains are cool, any way you can add more sound effects to it like the door close, breaks and screaching when it turns corners? also can you do it to all your trains? Also can you make the trains announce every stop that I name? For example if the stop is named "Boston" it will announce Boston.
bsquiklehausen  [author] Nov 20, 2020 @ 9:17am
@RedOktober - I have some ideas but keeping the cars connected around curves introduces some issues with the game's vehicle limit, and can look buggy from some angles. If I can come up with something I like the look of and that handles the game's limitations.
lil pipsqueak Nov 19, 2020 @ 6:15pm
Is there any way to add couplings (the chains between each car) to the train or is this not possible?
dgrad598 Aug 25, 2020 @ 8:13am

Serenity Rune Aug 24, 2020 @ 10:40am
Okay, so have you ever heard of the Breda A650 subway train that is used on the Los Angeles subway? That metro train is a second-generation variant of the Budd Universal Transit Vehicle that is used on the metro systems in Baltimore and Miami. The Budd train was on the workshop as a train vehicle but has since been removed.
Icewaster Aug 14, 2020 @ 10:54am
@bsquiklehausen ok thanks so much!
bsquiklehausen  [author] Aug 13, 2020 @ 8:36am
@mtacreeper (T-Bros) - The length of the train is 400 feet, since it is 8 50-foot cars. As you can see in the video, the train overhangs the MOM stations by about half a car or less. I'm probably not going to release a shorter version.
Icewaster Aug 13, 2020 @ 6:14am

I didn't include the underground stations since I can adjust the length of the station (Thanks MOM). Also, would it be okay If you told me the length of the trains?
Part two.
Thanks! :steamhappy:

@mtacreeper (T-Bros) - what stations are you using? It's possible vanilla ones are shorter than the MOM and workshop ones (to be fair I only checked with MOM stations). You can make it shorter with some work in the asset editor, but I wouldn't recommend it for people who don't already know how to use the editor.
Icewaster Aug 3, 2020 @ 8:22pm
Hey uhhh @bsquiklehausen is there a way to reduce the length of the train. I know it says that it should fit into stations with minimal overhang but these newer aren't fitting into the stations, (even the vanilla stations) while your other trains (r46, r160, etc.) fit fine. Nevertheless, all the work is appreciated! Thanks a lot! :steamhappy:

@metromaster maybe. This link despite not be.

@Velocity264C / Raptor In retrospect, Perhaps I should have referenced the R-188 as regards a six car unit. But I wasn't sure everyone (outside of New Yorkers) would even understand that,
Velocity264C / Raptor Jul 3, 2020 @ 12:00am
@metromaster, yeah looks like we are on the same page based on your June 18th post.
metromaster Jul 2, 2020 @ 8:49am
@bsquiklehausen Thank you. My point exactly. I was just not saying it right. There is no right or wrong. Its a game. I was just pointing out that there is more than one option when editing/reconfiguring the trainset for a different number of cars in the consist
bsquiklehausen  [author] Jul 2, 2020 @ 7:14am
My future B division trains with 60' and 75' cars will likely be A-B-A-A-B-A sets. The conductor's cab in the center of the train is an important detail to get right for me.
metromaster Jul 2, 2020 @ 4:42am
@Velocity264C / Raptor Of course, you could configure it that way, if you like. What I was saying is that, if you want it to appear as it would in real life, then you would have the A-B-B-B-B-A set up. This is because each A car needs at least one, but no more than two B cars to work. So in real life you would never see this train in an A-B-A-A-B-A configuration. But this is CS. We can make our world (or City) whatever we like. (Read my original response on Jun 18)
Velocity264C / Raptor Jul 1, 2020 @ 9:01pm
@metromaster maybe A-B-A-A-B-A ?
metromaster Jul 1, 2020 @ 3:41pm
@Velocity264C Yes, I know that. I was explaining to another player (who requested the six car train) how to make one in which the consist would fit the real life specifications.
Velocity264C / Raptor Jul 1, 2020 @ 1:32pm
@metromaster, in real life its a 10 a car train. A-B-B-B-A-A-B-B-B-A
metromaster Jun 18, 2020 @ 6:35am
@Phil Collins: If you know how to use the asset editor, you can do it very easily. If you want the train to appear realistic, remove the two center cars which look like the end cars. That is because in real life for each "A" (end car) there has to be at least one, but no more than two "B" cars (the one with out the cab and stripe). So a 6 car train would not be A-B-A-A-B-A. It would be A-B-B-B-B-A. Hope this helps
Tim Jun 18, 2020 @ 6:08am
Hey, can you make 6-car version of R142? :) Thx

what is the map you used in the backround
