does it still function?
aemeric Sep 13, 2024 @ 10:23am
MnCnNn last seen on Aug 29 2021, over three years ago, and this mod still one of the best Stellaris mods in history. Don't know where he is at or how he is doing but I wish him the best wherever he is.

I made a fix for the hairs/horns not showing up, just load it below the main mod:

What load order am I supposed to use for all of these SE mods? I've done all of the replacing of the "hair_selectors" I can and none of it has worked, my characters are still bald and the attachment option is still grayed out.
Punished Jeremy Apr 4, 2023 @ 2:36am
The default mod manager in the launcher also lets you open in file location
Jajalava Mar 26, 2023 @ 4:54am
it there any way to just take the clothes?
mad-rooky Feb 6, 2023 @ 6:43am
Use Irony Mod Manager to navigate mod files. It shows a list and from there you can also access the folders. Besides the other functionality it offers. Honestly dont know why it is not commonly used and mentioned especially for troubleshooting.
Riesenfriese Oct 24, 2022 @ 12:39pm
Wangs method is a bit overcomplicated. You can fix the hair issue simply by opening the mod file with Notepad++ (which is free) and use the included search and replace tool to replace all instances of "hair_selector" with "attachment_selector". Worked perfectly for me, the most difficult part was finding which of the 20 files in my mod folder was SE - humanoid.
Wang of Wall St Oct 21, 2022 @ 8:19pm
You can fix the Hair mod for version 3.5.3 by doing what Doc said on Sept 22.
1. Open the .txt files 09_portraits_humanoid and 91_portraits_human in your Steam mods folder.
2. Take the files and make copies of them.
3. If you have a Python editor (you can use Jupyter notebooks by downloading Anaconda), take your copy files and put them in the Jupyter file space, create a new file to replace by writing something like:
o = open('new_91_portraits_human.txt', 'a')
for line in open("91_portraits_human.txt"):
line = line.replace("hair_selector","attachment_selector")
o.write(line + "\n")
print(line)
o.close

4. After you do this for both files, take the new ones files you made, put them where you found them in the mods folders, and then rename them to their original titles.

Best to create a local patch mod (or even release it on the workshop for others to use) so verifying files doesn't wipe out your changes.
FutileReynolds Sep 25, 2022 @ 5:23pm
is that something we can do ourselves?
Doc Sep 22, 2022 @ 3:21am
Turns out this is fixable relatively easily. Doing a search and replace to change all references of "hair_selector" to "attachment_selector" in the mod makes it work correctly with the latest patch.
Epyon (AnimeToxic) Sep 21, 2022 @ 4:59pm
yup latest dlc always breaks our beloved mods :(
Doc Sep 21, 2022 @ 9:33am
latest version breaks this sadly
essi2 Sep 20, 2022 @ 9:03pm
Probably not, Use SE - Restyled instead
Epyon (AnimeToxic) Sep 20, 2022 @ 2:31pm
does this work with the new dlc :(?

Why not visible nipples?
Dev Jun 8, 2022 @ 8:31pm
why the visible nipples?
Resinous Mar 3, 2022 @ 7:43pm
very nice improvement on humanoid 4 especially :cryptolove:

Finally pushed out an alpha: SE - Restyled
Salty Saylor Dec 8, 2021 @ 8:02am
That is wonderful to hear. It sounds like you've got a concrete vision of what each setting should contain and I really appreciate that both for people that prefer to have a more sexualized approach or would rather something more modest/reserved. I look forward to your release!
droid.with.googly.eyes Dec 7, 2021 @ 10:08pm
I'll be able to push out an alpha for people to test soon. Just have to go over the male clothing settings some more...

Expect placeholders (which I'm still working on), incorrectly assigned clothes (report those please) and disagreements about what constitutes "Soft", "Modest" and "Plus" (much refining of those to make more players happy).
droid.with.googly.eyes Dec 7, 2021 @ 10:08pm
That can depend on your government. Civic choices can land you in the pirate government category and your leaders/pops will end up with that sort of look. Soft versions of some of that clothing doesn't exist (yet). That said, there are indeed many shirtless clothes for males, and maybe those shouldn't end up in the soft setting.

My rework (as in rewriting asset selectors from the ground up) has chest coverage as criteria for the settings, and should be more consistent about it. On the other hand, it means it is currently filled with placeholders for stuff that doesn't exist at the moment.

Things like the shirtless clothes you mention but with shirts for those choosing the soft option, default in my version because I imagine not everyone enjoys surprise nipple when there are mistakes in setting up a playlist.

For those that do, that's what Plus is for, right?
Salty Saylor Dec 7, 2021 @ 8:33pm
As I'm playing now, I'm noticing a lot of the males are completely shirtless. I'd prefer the people leading my armies to look, ya know, a bit less like medieval barbarians and outfitted either with professional attire or high-tech looking armor. As far as the women go, some of the form fitting outfits are tasteful whereas others look like they're vacuum sealed to their skin. Now a "vacuum sealed" suit could also prove to be tasteful in appearance, but I'm no designer so I'm not sure what that would look like.

I really appreciate you taking all this feedback! I love these mods, I feel like they have the best looking avatars that one can find. I just am not a big fan of the original author's vision. The current mods just feel like they were built for a "sexy" alien roleplay.
droid.with.googly.eyes Dec 7, 2021 @ 7:28pm
You're not alone there. Would you like the clothes in a soft version to be less...form fitting rather than just cover more skin? How about the male side of the current soft settings?
Salty Saylor Dec 7, 2021 @ 5:27pm
I feel as if the breasts on the female avatars, even in the soft version, are overly exaggerated in some of the pieces of clothing. I'm not sure if I'm being a little too conservative here, I'm fine with some skin showing here and there, but the over sexualized outfits that appear just aren't for me.
droid.with.googly.eyes Dec 4, 2021 @ 7:39pm
Could you elaborate? Does the soft setting (see submod links above) work for you? Details could make my rework more to your liking.
Salty Saylor Dec 4, 2021 @ 4:27pm
Really wish the female avatars weren't so over sexualized. It's a great mod otherwise...
droid.with.googly.eyes Nov 22, 2021 @ 9:16pm
Currently working on a replacement that combines Human and Humanoid, suddenly more urgent as gender changes in 3.2 break the existing mods and MnCnNn appears MIA.
CrippledComRade Oct 1, 2021 @ 12:13am
it's sad that i can't customize species appearance. i wish i could see what i made as my species as a whole, instead of only the first ruler.
TSINISTAR Sep 17, 2021 @ 8:51pm
basic humans get no clothing changes, though hair changes are there
Journeyman Prime Sep 2, 2021 @ 10:19pm
Do you think you could do a compatibility patch (if there isn't one already) for the Red-Lights District mod (which adds Mega-Brothels) so that this mod will have special clothing sets for Mega-Brothels that fit their theme?
Cannon Fodder Aug 27, 2021 @ 11:09pm
Is there a version of this that doesn't change default species and add new clothing?
aemeric Jun 11, 2021 @ 6:09am
henrik101, you pull up a graphics viewer like geeqie for example and go to the dir where the humanoid dds files are. You know what you don't want, so you look for those dds files and then copy paste their names to a notepad. Then you search for a suitable replacement dds graphic that you like, and copy that file over the top of the one you don't like. Repeat until you have overwritten all undesirable dds graphics with desirable dds graphics. Pay attention to the body types because the clothes are matched to the body chest sizes.

It's not fancy but it gets the job done without taking alot of time to edit code in the game which in my opinion is more time consuming unless you are already a mod author.

You can also do the same thing with body types. If you like bigger girls, you can find the body types with bigger girls and copy them over also.
SalmonFeet Jun 10, 2021 @ 6:14pm
Hey will you ever make a mod like this but for different species classes?
Lelyanra Jun 9, 2021 @ 1:16pm
hey man, any chance you make a version of this mod that is modular, like the human? for instance, i.e. SE Humanoid Bodies
henrik101 Jun 4, 2021 @ 10:29pm
aemeric what do you mean with switching dds files around i can only get it to show very limeted variations
TTV/COFFENATION May 23, 2021 @ 8:52am
Big Tiddy Lihoids When? :>
aemeric May 14, 2021 @ 10:10pm
SkiRich -- I had noticed this but had not looked into it vis a vis error log. Thanks for the insight
SkiRich May 14, 2021 @ 3:58pm
@MCN, Loading up this mod I noticed in the error log, 3 files each for humanoid males and females, 1 thru 5 are missing the 3 animation files each. Total of 30 files.
While the mod looks OK and plays OK these portraits will not flinch on screen for happy 2, sad 1 and sad 2.
aemeric Apr 25, 2021 @ 8:16pm
Sp00n.exe, the cool thing about mods is that you don't have to use them. There's alot of people that use this mod and if you are inclined you can change the clothing yourself just by switching dds files around. So I find it rather disingenuous at best for you to attempt an occupation of the moral high ground while using vulgar language at the author.
aemeric Apr 24, 2021 @ 10:35am
In addition, it demonstrates that the author has not gone dark.
aemeric Apr 24, 2021 @ 10:33am
A version bump is also needed to keep this mod in the viewspace of newbies that come online looking for awesome mods (as this one is) and it perpetuates the mod better. If someone is looking for only 3.0 mods (for what they deem as a compatibility metric, right or wrong) then the older dated mods that are not getting version bump attention will not be in their viewspace. This is why all mods need a version bump, especially if the author has donation revenue streams available.
Worukan Apr 24, 2021 @ 2:50am
It works fine. An update is only need AFAIK if there is a change to the species files.,
essi2 Apr 20, 2021 @ 12:51am
Doesn't look like these mods need any updates to work with 3.0.
SokushaMT Apr 19, 2021 @ 11:36pm
does these mod need update?
Grand Poo-Bah de Canadiannaise Apr 18, 2021 @ 8:42pm
I love your mods, but I gotta say, a lot of the humanoid clothes, etc, seem a bit too, well, human.
I'd also love to see more militant-combat wear
aemeric Apr 18, 2021 @ 8:20am
essi2 -- I am not sure, I can't get the author to respond to the question of ko-fi donation requests either, since I cannot do paypal. If he won't respond to donation offers it's unlikely he will respond here either.
wancar Apr 18, 2021 @ 8:16am
Also playing ironman and disabled extra species/appearance mods so can't check if this still works :( I hope it does!
