But can you at least make her talk like we're actually married? Because I really did just get Hearthfire right now. Like, about an hour ago. I don't want some sort of a disfunctional family.
"Mommy, why do you call Daddy "Guardian?"
"Because that's what he is, honey."
"But you're married Mommy! I thought married people called eacho-"
"SHUT THE OBLIVION UP YOU LITTLE SKEEVER DROPPING."
Aranea wears a custom outfit and has always had clothing issues, although the situation seems to have gotten worse in the last few skyrim patches.
Also, since we're married now, "guardian" gets annoying after awhile. I'M YOUR HUSBAND. NOT JUST SOME HERO OF A DAEDRIC LORD. Gawsh. Anyway, could you make her talk to me like she actually loves me, because it's really putting a damper on things. What will my children think if I ever get Hearthfire? Just a bug and suggestion. And some extra random nonsense.
I've used both UFO and AFT and found AFT to be far more stable. the few things UFO does that AFT doesnt do can be managed by other mods.
Also, I couldn't find a mod called Advanced Follower Tweaks, but I found Amazing Follower Tweaks and its definitely amazing. Is that the mod you were talking about?
Just... Give her a dwarven helmet. It sounds weird but it works. Give her a dwarven helmet to cuddle and she'll wear anything you want her to (Head items have to be superior to the helmet of course).
Anyway, thanks for the advice. :)
As for changing her level, the best way is to install either UFO or AFT (Advanced Follower Tweaks). UFO is more popular, but I find AFT to be more stable and a little more intuitive, especially when it comes to Aranea, due to her clothing glitch.
@Ricardo: No clue... walking backwards isn't the Radiant bug, I've never even seen it before. Maybe it was some other mod you installed?
@Daedra guy: ugh its been too long but I'm pretty sure it's from the CBBE Skimpy Armor pack from Nexus. If you go to the CBBE page I think he has a list of armor mods there, it would be the vanilla armor replacement.
1) Drop any Amulets of Mara you currently possess in a chest.
2) Go to Riften and buy an amulet from Maramal (he's usually in the pub). If you've already bought one from him, go back and grab it from your chest. This is essential, since buying the amulet from him is what activates marriage.
3) Put that Amulet on. Even if you have it on already, take it off and put it on again, it's a skyrim bug that sometime forgets you have it on.
4) Tap ~ to enter the console, and click on Aranea - you should see a hex code for her appear in the middle top of the console area, indicating she's selected.
5) Type "addfac 19809 1" followed by the ESC key and try talking to her. At this point she should comment on it.
To dress her when she's a companion, you need to give her your armor - it MUST have an AC higher than 10 (I think) and THEN give her a helmet or circlet that has a high armor class - as high as possible. Then she'll take off her robe, get cold, and put ont he other armor.
She's the only follower than seems to have this issue.
This bug can also be fixed if you install Amazing Follower Tweaks (which I recommend over UFO), because you can force her to wear anything.
Most likely you have not finished the questline in her favor (ending with the White Star, not black), or you have another mod which jacks up followers (there are several).
Worst case, download Amazing Follower Tweaks and use that. It allows you to make anyone a follower, even children and quest PCs.
Also, when she's not following me, she just unequip all her clothes / armor.
Keep your eyes peeled for the shrine marker or Azura's statue on the mountiantop, which is the largest statue in Skyrim. In addition to trolls, the path takes you near several special encounter spawns and the hunting area of a nearby dragon.
As I've mentioned several times, the entire marriage system is and always has been buggy as hell. I suspect it was a last-minute thing they hacked together to up sales hype and never really tested well.
All I can suggest is to load a save game prior to the wedding and try again.
Oh no complaints here about her being nude... I had a custom mage clothing mod set up for when I got her as a companion anyways. We've been kicking ass and taking names since I finished the black star quest.
If all else fails, open the console, click on her, and type "addfac 19809 1", then talk to her. That's absolute brute-force to add her to the marriage faction. If THAT still fails, then there's nothing you can do until Bethesda fixes their bug.
I feel your pain, I'm currently having the same issue with Mjoll, even though I've done her quest and all the right steps, she still wont ask me to marry her. Beth broke something in the last patch - they fixed this same bug with Lydia, but now it's popping up in all the other NPCs.
