Source sdk is a group of tools that hammer is a part of.

The problem isn't the physical space per se, but the brush and face limits.

I once wanted to put all of black mesa in one map, but it's just not feasible because you quickly hit the brush limits. A lof of this can be remedied by turning non-wall and non-entity brushes into props, but you are still bound to hit the entity limit eventually.

Also it would require changing a lot of the structure around since most of it clips into itself.

this looks cool! how close is it to the max limits of hammer? i would love to see a giant hl1 map thats ONLY the original rooms from hl1, maybe a couple shortcuts so the map isnt only one direction but that may be a bit much for limits

I made that mistake the first time around too. Though with maps with skyboxes, you need to be careful so they don't get misaligned.

I see, I started from the bottom then went up, I didn't even know the map had a skybox. As for the sky, I might update it with the correct texture

I would have started with the topside map. This way I wouldn't need to move it and wouldn't have to worry about the skybox getting misaligned.
I would have also added the original skybox texture from HL1 instead of using a HL2 one, to make it closer to the original.
If I kept the corpses, I would have left the originals instead of ragdolls, though it's likely I would have completely cleaned up the map instead.
As for the bunker area, I would have kept it, but altered the layout of it and the other areas of the level so they wouldn't clip into each other.

Ah good to see someone else is also interested in HL1 maps. I would have done it differently, but it's a fine work nonetheless.
