Just wanna say it's almost an essential mod for those on the fence because of the bug. Vanilla has almost 1/10 of troops carrying banners, and not only are they visually distracting but also the flag bearers become bland sword soldiers regardless of your troop type. Archers? No, you don't get a bow. Spearmen? No, you only get a sword. This makes 1/10 of unit characteristsics useless contributing to the sameness of units 3k is already plagued with, so I recommend subscribing the mod and fixing the bug yourself.

How to fix the bug:
1. Install RPFM and open the mod file. Google the mod location in steam folder.
2. Find 'chu spearmen' entry from the table, and check the box of the column in the rightmost labeled "Num Composed Entry"
3. ??
4. Profit.

I may one day atttempt to fix, but I've been too busy recently

The Chu spearmen problem hasn't been fixed so if anyone's using this mod they should fix it themselves, just a reminder.

Could be a neat learning experience. However, I may not upload it as a seperate mod as it will require me to have it updated for future patches.

@Wild Card right now I have no such mod. However, this mod provides all you need. All you'll have to do is to go through each and every unit, reduce the number of standard bearers from 4 to 1 and increase the number of base units by +3. Every unit in the game. It's quite the work, but it can take like 5 minutes of constantly doing exactly this. However, in extreme sizes I noticed you can only have up to 2. Since it seems the game multiplies the chosen number by a number of sorts, and it evaluates upwards. So minimum of 2.

You could do it the good old classic way, standard bearer centered on front, and all that. I could help you with it. Got discord?
