So I didn't realize that all of AoM's game-data is named with a version-number as well as what it is so there's a heap of data for different versions of the game (I guess so people can down-patch without needing to download extra stuff?).
I got the mod working by going into the mod's folder and editing the names of proto2.7.xml & techtree2.7.xml to proto2.8.xml & techtree2.8.xml so the mod replaces the most current version of the game's files.
I went as far as to manually replace the files it edits in the actual game files and even then it continued to not work.
I'm baffled how Age of Mythology is so immensely resistant to build-limit mods, I remember the unlimited god powers mod had the worst problems for the longest time.
Any suggestions on how to get this to work would be much appreciated
Have you ensured that you don't have a conflicting mod installed (see FAQ)? What game mode did you encounter the issue in?
Unfortunately it is not possible with workshop mods because of the limitations of how lazily Age of Mythology Extended Edition's mod support was implemented.
I added a section to the mod's description explaining why this is the case.
The new version, which also adds support for deathmatch and lightning modes, increases the house and manor limit to 9999 to allow construction of house/manor walls.
Age of Mythology has a 300 pop hardcap and each house gives you 10 pop. As such I figured that upping the build limit to 30 was sufficient.
I haven't tested it in online games so I can't say for sure.
