Hi, I'm trying to pin down industry ratios per my thread here https://steamcommunity.com/app/1066780/discussions/0/3875968426422509160/?tscn=1696771074 and doing websearching brought me to your mods. The map I'm playing has 10 cities - am I to understand that because that's not cleanly divisible by 3, that's the root cause of why the game is preserving the 3:1 farm-to-food-factory ratio and not giving me 4th farms? Or can I sort that out using this or your "production challenge" mod?

Sure thing.. I made the change myself to test it and it seems to slow down the number of abandoned industries at the start of the new game, so it looks like it works as it should.

@Clayton North
you are right, have not thought about that, thanks for the input :)

You probably should modify 'targetMaxNumberPerArea' for industries as well, otherwise they will revert to the default 'Low' value over time.

With the sandbox mod and the town tuning mod you can alter anything on a map at any time.

The logic of TPF2-Feature with more cargotypes per town doesn't create more demand. It just changes the demand for more variety of cargo but the final sum is the same. So that feature doesn't change the needed number of industries per town.

But it depends on how good this demand is balanced through all towns. If one cargo is demanded more often than others, of course, the calculation doesn't work anymore. And if i understand it right, the possibility to change the town growth factors will heavily change the amount of cargo a town will demand.

In the end, it has to be investigated to check if there is something odd, now. But with the feature of dynamic creating industries on runtime, there is no need to have enough industries at the start. I suggest just activating that feature and you will be saved. This mod will only be needed if you want to adjust the number of towns and industries.

Any plan to make it better "compatible" to the new update?
from "2" per town to "up to 6" or mod specifiy "up to n"

@Yak Hunt
I think so, but i have never made a close look.

Do cities still have demand for the final goods of the missing production chains? Either way, this seems like a pretty big oversight by the developers.

(neue cargo varianten)

thank you will have a look for it now thanks :)

@Granger312
Thats what you mean, now i get it :)
1. the option for that can be set to 0, but the generator will still create 2 industries. Not much we can do about that. I see your point as it would be still very handy for some people but i don't have any interest in that, i'm sorry.

(You can locat the base_config.lua in your game folder if you like to change it manually, its line 308 which is called "maxNumberPerArea" of industry. There you can change the value to zero with a text-editor)

2. the need to make complex lines and more logistical decisions is the reason for my mod pack, the other 2 will already help with that and more will come sooner or later. This one doesn't change the given ratio of the game, it just corrects the ratio of the generator to match the given requirements :)

sorry for the late reply had to work and then sleep. yes would you be able to make a mod to better fit in with the Industry Tycoon mod (Found here) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1927903647

I would very much like to see a mod with reduced industries of none at all so you can build them your self or are forced to make complex lines to Serve all the towns.
PMV  [author] Dec 18, 2019 @ 1:38pm
Sorry, your sentence doesn't make much sense to me. Do you mean a specific other mod? Which one?
Desparitary Dec 18, 2019 @ 12:43pm
This makes more sense thanks. would you be able to create a Economy version that removes the industries to work with the Industry Tycoon mod?
PMV  [author] Dec 18, 2019 @ 12:38pm
On amount set to Low the game creates far less as it would be needed to serve all given cities, so this generates more industry to get complete production chains to be able to service all generated cities. I will make a more detailed description when i have more time :)
Desparitary Dec 18, 2019 @ 12:20pm
So if im reading correctly this will generate less industries then base game correct?
Skycould Dec 15, 2019 @ 2:19pm
looks good will check the entire collection out :)
