this might be the coolest unit mod ive ever seen! sure, it is not balanced by any means, but reguardless its awzome fun, those guys with the fireswords and have fireball spell is absurdly fun

This has been a rough year. Was going to get new glasses so I could see better, and be able to mod again. Sadly, covid happened and haven't had the chance as I am at high risk.
I appreciate the love people have for this mod. It may take awhile, but eventually I will be back

@giovannettisimone1985 you can just upload it and take it down if the author complains. As long as you don't sell it, you should not run into any trouble just by uploading an updated version.

Ugh... Want to start 100th DE campaign, but, without this mod, feels like faction lost all "optional flavor". Kinda sad... Pls Update, i want to play and enjoy dork elves again...

@D-lox I will do my utmost best to get the mod updated when I can, and add more to it. My eyes, sadly, are not great. I need new glasses. But have to save up for them. Working with so many numbers on a spread sheet, isn't easy. I do my best and appreciate the encouragement :)

I miss this more than any other sfo mod, including sfo. Can't even bring myself to play malus without it. I hope you do something similar with skaven, but i'd be totally more than satisfied with just this. Thanks a bunch man, and kudos

@Skragrott the LoonKing Yeah, noticed it at "Additional Units" SFO submod, looks kinda silly. However, IIRC, there is actually one good implementation of Dragon Riders — In the "High Elves Expanded - The Dragonrealm" mod unit called "Baith Caradan". (3 Nobles(?) on Sun Dragons) And it looks amazing — No clipping at all. Well, at least it's not THAT noticeable. I suppose, spacing between models was quite large, but, due to dragon's sheer size, unit formation while flying looked not so wacky and emm... "forced". So, spacing won't be an issue.

@Westheimer - hard thing about that is spacing. The wings tend to overlap.
@D-Lox - main thing I would like to add first, are units for Malus. Would like to figure out some of the start pos stuff as well, and move Azagh to troll country, an grimgor to the new area around pig barter.

@Skragrott the LoonKing Hey there. Would you consider adding Dragon Rider unit to Malekith's Side? It's his piece of cake of all other Druchii Lords after all. And Lords of Oblivion is a thing, if we count the "End Times".

Gamow are you understanding that the units in campaign, mostly, are tied to specific buildings. If you play as Malekith for example, you can't recruit the Atharti units till you capture Quintex

@Westheimer I have all the DLCs installed, and I tried to load only SFO+this mod and it doesn't work, i can see the units in custom battle, but not on the campaign.

@Gamow Are you sure there is no load order issues? Any conflicting mods? Anyway, try to turn on SFO and DERP only (turn off all other mods accordingly). That way you can find out where the problem lies. And, lastly, what about DLCs? I suppose, you need to own them all.

It doesn't seem to work for me, I can use the new units in custom battles only, but cannot recruit them on campaign.
I've been looking for a DE unit mod and this seems absolutely great, i would really love to play it on campaign, thanks.

@Westheimer - it will be totally custom. Nothing whatsoever with WHFB. But will be much later.
I want to finish this mod first. Though, again, will be awhile before I can even update it once the DLC comes out.
An yes, my imagination is only limited by CA's modding tools lol. Which sadly are limiting. Else I'd have made my OWN medusa unit before they did XD
I'd also have clan moulder's units in the game already. Dunno why we got the death master and not Thrott the Unclean.

Your plans, overall, are quite ambitious, however i'm rooting for you. Reaaaaally curious about "end products", taking into account you're writer, a person who, ideally, rarely feels deprivation of inspiration.
Custom faction? Huh... Is it totally custom, or in someway related to WHFB universe?

Long term plans, I want to finish this mod. I want to create a vanilla overhaul lol. Something that would be easy to update and maintain, but still adds a nice variety to the game. This because it'd be a simplistic overhaul for people not wanting to depend on a whole HOST of mods. It'd be one mod to satisfy most lol.
Then I want to create a custom faction based on a character I wrote about years ago. (am a writer)
After that, I'd want to bring my own vision of the Amazons, Haflings, and such to life. As, despite what good work they've done, OvN's take on said factions aren't what I'd want. Especially the halflings, which I think have enough lore that you don't need to take such...creative liberties with them.

It won't be counter productive. Like I said, I can't even begin to work on updating this mod till SFO has their mod updated. So I may as well work on something in that time :) Plus, any work I do on either mod can easily be shifted over to the other.
Like say, new units or abilities for the dark elves in the vanilla mod can be brought over to this one once SFO is updated, and just tweak the numbers.

Well, yeah, new units don't fit Malus at all. There is clearly "beastial" theme behind DE part of the DLC, which is more Rakarth's piece of edgy cake. Units aside, didn't you notice lizardpeople-style new rite? I mean the one, which summons full monster stack at your faction Capital. I suppose, that poorboy Rakarth was actually planned as LL for dork elves, but suddenly he got replaced with fan favourite Badguy Blackknife. Well, at least CA realises that Malus is about cold-ones, and they added him cavalry-oriented lord effect. Hope we'll see Rakarth as FLC someday.
Vanilla version of mod? With all due respect, but isn't it a bit counterproductive? In my understanding, it's going to double the amount of your modding (quick math) work? Or you regard it as "demo" of your actual mod, which is based on SFO?

@Westheimer - so what I am planning is a new mod to start working on when the dlc drops and I have the updated schemas. It will be a vanilla based mod that essentially overlays new units, new buildings and the like. All using the vanilla numbers. An what I will do is import these units over to that new mod as well, and tweak them to fit vanilla standards.
NOW, once SFO is updated I will update this mod :) So NO WORRIES there. An I will continue to add to this Dark Elf only mod.
The other, vanilla one, will have tweaks and additions to various races.

@Westheimer - I foresee an issue with this dlc though lol. Because it's adding a new CHUNK of map, presumably with new AI factions. Throw in what already comes with new dlcs (in terms of schemas and such for modders) an we may be looking at a few weeks for modders to get their mods updated. Since mine here is directly tied to SFO, I won't be able to update mine (realistically) till SFO is updated. An since they are a major overhaul mod that will need to account for all the new additions to the map. It might take them a week or two.

@Westheimer - I think all the units aren't specific to Malus lol. Was disappointed that they didn't add his two, extra large, extra powerful Hydra. That said, I love the new units...mostly. I think the scourge runner chariots need different beasts pulling them. The horses look too small and boxy. The medusa look fantastic. Though I doubt anyone can kitbash them at all. Maybe weapons.
I am most interested in Malus himself, and the new hero an lord - as they will add more head types, more torso types and the like to play around with.

Personally excited for the new scourgerunner chariots - Did you notice these sick harpoon-firing "crossbows"? Can you imagine ranged Black Guards wielding those things, instead of generic repeaters? Brutal AF.

@Capn Redbeard - I'd say for a lot of mods, owning all the dlc definitely helps - as modders will take animations, or textures from dlc content and kit bash it all together to make something new.
An sorry, it's one of those "can't please everybody" situations when it comes to army caps.
That said, I am looking atm to make a vanilla mod that will feature some of these units (weaker, vanilla balanced versions) that won't have any cap. Aside from the legendary units.

@Cap'n Redbeard - first man, don't use PFM. Use RPFM, Rusted pack file manager. Is much better. Second I don't think you can edit my mod and save it lol, you'd have to clone it and I really don't want anyone cloning it :)
Lastly, are you using SFO? Gotta use SFO with this. An have the dlc.
One more thing you can check is load order. I make my mods for the vanilla mod manager, not KMM.

I don't know what the problem is. But I cannot recruit a single one of these units in the Campaign. At all. I have the required buildings. I tried to edit the values in Pack File Manager too, and nothing saved.
