The combo counter maxes at 5 visually but still tracks the number of hits in the corner next to the airdodge indicator.
Also, BAir CAN be powered up with combo counter

- using the correct base skin (should be the first skin after the default, a pale blue with the text "Color Picker" on the css
- are holding the keys through the 3-2-1 sequence at the beginning?

I love stickfigures
I was playing against Ranno and the knockback was really inconsistent. Like normal to just straightup killing at 60.
I blocked a couple side Bs so that might be it?
Smash Attacks, BAir and Charged Neutral B all gain extra power. Smashes also gain a little explosion at the tip for extra range, but they do less damage than the boosted attack.
