just tried pushing a quick fix for something either way so maybe try with the new version??

For real though, it works so well. He feels like he belongs in this game. Definitely my favorite character.
This character is really well done as is, really great job!
Since uair is just screaming, you could give it a second larger, but weaker hitbox, but that's less important. Since the chorus kid's scream causes the hitbox, it would probably be a good idea to have the hitbox stay out as long as he does. He only actually goes away once the scream ends, so there's no reason not to really.
For side special and neutral special, it would probably be a good idea to have some visual associated with when to time the button press. Like neutral special could just be something gets tossed up from the ground and when he punches it, it changes into a pot or rock depending on his timing. Side special is also easy, just have a little shadow monster pop up a certain distance away when the sound effect happens.
Last idea, not sure if it's a good one, but for at least neutral and side special, maybe add a failure timing for them, if you press the button too late.
