Report a translation problem
Yeah unfortunately there's one texture path that this overrides, if I remember right.
So how this mod works is it just says "Anything made by Cross and at the Meitou Grade, use this texture".
There isn't quite any simple way to add certain weapons to an exception list.
Sorry about that.
If it helps for your faction colours, the colours I used translate to either
211 184 133 or 196 155 100

Something like "52290-rebirth.mod.52293-rebirth.mod.png". Usually with white-ish or silvery looking weapon icons.
They won't have "Meitou" in their file name, but most of them are meitou icons. They'll regenerate with my textures when you launch/encounter them in game as Meitous.
steamapps> common > Kenshi > Data > Icons
(This folder holds all the games non UI icons)
2. Search "5229"
(All the icons with 5229X are generally game generated meitou icons)
3. Highlight all 5229s and delete.''
I tried doin that but the meitou weapons icons doesn't show up to me, only ''rebirth weapons'' appears. anyway to resolve?
I'm not super aware of the new stuff coming out right now, but if you sent me your load order again maybe I can take a peek.
(also moving the mod that had the 15_HI.dds file back to the top of the load order might just fix the problem anyway if something has changed).
Here are the instructions, it looks like a few steps but it only takes a second or two.
1. Go to Wherever your kenshi install is, Mine looks like this;
steamapps> common > Kenshi > Data > Icons
(This folder holds all the games non UI icons)
2. Search "5229"
(All the icons with 5229X are generally game generated meitou icons)
3. Highlight all 5229s and delete.
(This is completely safe, as the game generates the icons based on the texture for these weapons, and will just regenerate them with the new textures, so if you do uninstall my mod and want them to go back to vanilla, just do this again)
One slight issue for me though, whether it's my mistake or not idk, is that the inventory icon still remains vanilla unless I create a copy of the item in the FCS. This happens regardless if the mod is placed at the top or bottom of my load order.
For example I create a custom start mod, add a Meitou Katana and your texture is applied but not the inventory icon. I then replace the Katan in the FCS with a copy and rename it, and the icon is then applied.
Other than that, perfect!
Thanks for the encouragement too, but I'm done with the textures for a while. I really wanted to do more but university has kept me fairly busy. I did prototype a few skin textures and edit one of the strength limbs a while back, but they weren't very good. Eventually when I get the time to do some classes on proper texture work I will though, this mod was mostly me messing around trying to figure things out (i think the handles are actually a compressed picture of my aunt's table mat).
PS: Have you thought about doing this same mod but in the textures of prosthetic limbs, samurai armor or even in the skeletons themselves? It would be a great integration!
It does add new weapons to existing and new NPCs though. The list is on their page here:
https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1552374986 The weapons list should be the first pinned discussion post.
Maybe there is another mod in your load order that might be overriding vanilla meitou holders?
I know none of this fixed your issue, but I hope this helps some.
I'm not super in the know right now when it comes to the current mods, but If you post your load order maybe I can figure something out?
My reccomendations for overwriting were mostly based on load order for the highest priority 15_Hl.dds file as a workaround for the few people that have issues.
Gonna look into it shortly. Is there something I can do to make it work better with your mod? Haven't launched the game in ages.
