I don't have a lot of experience with tabletop simulator, but from a novice perspective this game seemed really well put together. At first I had no idea it wasn't base content which came from Tabletop Simulator. It just felt like a genuine experience. Outside of its great presentation, the game itself is fun. Like with most board games, it looks more complicated than it is. But really it's just a good way to pass the time with friends. You only interact with the game itself when it's your turn, so the rest of the time you're around the board hanging out and talking and stuff. But the turns go by quickly enough that it never feels like a drag. And the content is engaging, in my opinion. It's fun to explore branches of caves, and try and out-explore my friends. Point being, I can definitely recommend this game :)

Sub Terra came out in 2017 and The Cave came out in 2012. They do look very similar, though The Cave is exploration based and Sub Terra is an escape premise with exploration and hazards. For my part, I like The Cave better since it better replicates actual caving irl

I do not know the game well, so my comment is very superficial.
The game seems to be very similar to the underground boardgame, with a few more elements.
Once I really know the game I can have a better opinion, and out of curiosity find out which game was released first, whether it was The Cave created by Adam Kaluza or Sub Ground created by Tim Pinder.
It is a curiosity for those who like to search and have fun, however 2 games created, greater fun among friends.
