hi, im looking for a mod that makes my people stop putting food away, my miners drop the ores and their food and its infuriating, they go hungry because they dont take any food, very annoying

does this mod fix bread basket too? because we have same problem on bread basket too. when i try to cook meatwrap ai doesnt use bread in the bread basket

It seems that cooking food rations is working now. Before that, I had to use a mod for a special container and fill it manually. With your mod, a worker takes cubes and meat from a common food container. Thanks!

When downloaded this mod is called Food Cube Storage and not Food Storage Fix.
I was looking for a mod that allows my cooks to take items out of the Food Storage barrels, in my case that would be dried meat and food cubes for whatever mod of mine adds the ration pack crafting.

I suppose that this is no longer possible with this mod?
Or is there some trick to it, like rebuilding the storage barrels?

When I tested your mod, I reinstalled a Ration Pack mod that I was using when the problem presented itself, installed your mod update, disabled any other Ration Pack mods I had installed, researched the Packs, assigned a follower to make them, and at maximum game speed, I sat there watching him make them for a good 10 minutes with his inventory open. I only saw that he had picked up Meatwraps that one time.

I'm not entirely sure how conclusive that is, and ideally the follower in question would only pick up the ingredients they needed to make Ration Packs, but that is exactly how it happened when I tested your update out, in case there is anything there you need to know.

Also, when I said it didn't work for as long the last time I tried it, what I meant was: The follower I had assigned to the job of cooking Ration Packs, didn't successfully cook them without getting bunged up by a full inventory of Meatwraps, for nearly as long as the follower I used to test out your mod update. So something was working right. However, I did see him pick up 5 or 6 Meatwraps at one point. As soon as I alt tabbed back and saw that he had done so, he emptied them out back into the Food Store within 3 seconds, and continued cooking Ration Packs.

The ones with wooden frames, in other words. Each one of my followers has one, and I buy them when I see them and put them in storage because I have the 256 recruit limit mod.

I'm thinking because Rations need Dried Meat as an ingredient, it's picking up Meatwraps confusing them because they both have Meat in the name. Or... something.

It's definitely working a lot better, but he's still grabbing Meatwraps. It didn't work for this long the last time I tried it.

Yeah, seems to be working fine. Again, I saw them pick up a stack of Meatwraps though, so I'm not sure if it was a fluke that it didn't get hitched up, or if they just picked up the Meatwraps "for old time's sake."

Ok so, it seems to be working. However, I notice they are still grabbing Foodcubes from regular storage even without the other mod installed. I'm going to leave him cooking Rations for a little bit and let you know if the Meatwrap controversy rears it's ugly head.

I spoke too soon, I alt tabbed back into game and he had a bunch of Meatwraps in his inventory, but he dumped them back into storage real quick like he was trying to hide it from me.

@Corp. Hunter2042, test mod is done. Just make sure to unsubscribe from this mod, else it might cause unforeseen problems. It should add a storage container similar to that used for Greenfruit, except its for storing Foodcubes only. Just build it and give it a test.

@Corp. Hunter2042, I could try and make a separate mod that is purely designed just to hold food cubes. Theoretically that might fix the whole issue and render this mod as legacy. If you want to be my Guinea pig, just let me know.

I guess that would just be making one foodcube item, (the ingredient) and leaving the original as is.

I wish I were a modder. I'm sure I could figure it out if I tried. I'm wondering if we couldn't change foodcubes to their own ingredient, give them their own storage barrel, or make two types of food cubes, one as an ingredient, and one as the food item.

To further elaborate, the reason Food Cubes are such a problem is because their only storage method has this "no emptying" functionality tag, while all the other ingredients have their own special storage containers that lack the "no emptying" tag. Check the Green Fruit storage container as an example of a container the AI will pull resources from. I just copied the functionality of the other storage methods to the Food Storage.

@Corp. Hunter2042 If you want to look more into this, here is a photo of the edit I made in the Kenshi files. All I did was change the functionality section from "Resource storage - NO EMPTYING" to "Resource Storage". By removing the the first function, the AI realizes it can use the Food Storage to make things from the barrel instead of just eating only.

Yeah I did. I haven't tried it since. Literally every Rations mod I downloaded, was doing the same thing: not recognizing food cubes as an ingredient. So I dloaded this one, and it seemed like it worked. A little bit later, I happened to notice the guy standing there with more food stores left to fill and plenty of ingredients, opened his inv, and it was loaded to the brim with meatwraps.. for some reason. It's not an ingredient I needed, nor is it an ingredient at all, so I'm not sure what gives.

@Corp. Hunter2042 I'll be honest, there is not much to this mod. It's simply one small edit that turns on the barrels ability to store/export Food Cubes. That's it really, there is nothing really complex going on with it. If it's not working for you, try importing your save file. That fixes most issues.

Ok so this mod worked for the first few ration packs, then I noticed my cooks standing around doing nothing, opened their inventory to find it full of unnecessary ingredients and foodstuffs. Yeah. Not sure if it can be fixed. None of the craft-able Ration Packs mods I download seem to work if you want it automated. You have to manually fill your dudes inventory with ingredients and then repeat when they run out, so I was happy to find this mod. Sucks it doesn't really work right as far I can tell.

Really wanted to be able to craft Ration Packs. All of the mods I found were unable to be automated, due to characters not recognizing Foodcubes as ingredients. This mod saved my packaged meat.

I too am having problems with dried meat as well. For a while my people were starving with tons of meat in a nearby storage but if I put it in their inventory it worked fine. After multiple imports for this and other reasons, it seems to be working now... to be continued..

@The Lord of Ebola I worked with another friend of mine who does modding and he says that the Dried Meat works perfectly fine in conjunction with the mod as it is. From what we can tell its most likely either a mod conflict you're having or you need to import your save file. 90% of all Kenshi issues can be solved through importing the game.

@The Lord of Ebola Can't say I have heard of that one before. I've had conflicts with gathering food with and without this mod active. I am not exactly sure with how the AI is handling food processing, but even with the mod not active I still have issues.

so this mod works great for food cubes but my workers wont touch dried meat if it is in a food store which is fairly irritating tbh do they take dried meat from it on your game? is it a conflict? or an oversight?

My people go to the bread basket further away than the food store with food in it.
