As someone else has said, I was getting massive crashing and corruption in my saves. My mod setup had been stable with zero issues for dozens of hours, so it was quite puzzling. I eventually disabled mods one by one and when I disabled this one, things were working again.

As far as I can tell, I had only used the gate from this mod and that was enough - something about it was causing object corruption and making my save unuseable.

yeah the metal gate is kinda fucked, move markers send to the middle of the gate are appearing in the sky in front of the camera and buildings as well as workorders that take part behind the gate stop working

dont build anything near the gate

The collisions on the gates are making my characters & enemies get stuck. A shame, the fences seem to be working fine.

fair warning these are really (very) hard to get underped on rough terrain/anywhere hilly, so expect the heights of the fences to be very weird unless you edit the heights with the editor after placing if you want it pretty. Otherwise good cheap fence that fills the "I need a barrier but not a 40 foot wall" niche quite well.

@Mechanica I'm doing an one man overhaul during the lockdown and wanted to ask if I could integrate it into my mod. If it is ever released you'll obviously be credited as their creator.

I've got a cage full of cannibals back at the base, and I can dump prisoners into it off the wall when it's feeding time. They have their own special roasting pole and a table and chairs. I put a stove in there but they ain't interested :steamthumbsdown:

same here, i use this mod and after i made a little prison close game and try to play next day and my save file dont open, dissable this mod and work again.

I built a bunch of these fences ( I made a maze in water surrounded by mounted crossbows ) and after closing down i could not re-load my game. As soon as i disabled this mod it loaded as normal, i re-enables this mod and failed to load, disabled and it loaded as normal. Not sure why but I cant use this mod, I looked in the logs for an error specific to this mod but couldn't find anything. It may work for you, maybe it was because I built so many in a small area but if your game fails to load after building these fences, try disabling this mod first before you spend hours searching other errors found in the logs.. (like i did)..

Kenshi needs walls of bones. Any bones couls be human could be walls of bones from beep who knows. But it makes sense that someone would build walls out of bones in kenshi to me.

@大猫斯毯森斗鱼947011 Sadly it's only possible to make sliding doors in Kenshi. I'm not sure how soon I'll update the mod, but I will eventually be adding more gates.

just wondering though
is it possible to make a door open by spinning rather than sliding aside? or could you make some smaller gate with the door sliding upside like in vanilla? looking forward to it if you got the time
i really love the feel of small villiges with small gates hopefully same size as level 1 swamp gate

@LordofExploiters All you need to do is change the "build materials" value from 12 to 300 for the Fence Gate Door.

is there a way to change the health of the gates? im still new so im not sure which to change on the fcs, i want the gates to have 300 health.

Crash dumps can be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kenshi

If no crash dump was generated you can upload kenshi.log and kenshi_info.log instead, but the information in those files will be erased if you restart the game after it crashes.

Sorry for late reply, It didnt give me any notification or crashdump, just not responding and then crashed. If you could point me to where it is I could load the mod up and see if it still causes it to crash.

I dont know how or why but this mod is crashing my game. Suddenly happened after working fine for ages, troubleshooted all my mods and this seems to be the issue. Odd.

@Sir Luis Did you mean prison bars for interior use? I could make something similar to the existing interior walls but I don't think a door would work indoors. A picket fence is already on my list, but I think an unpainted one would be better for Kenshi. I'll probably add them to Random Furniture instead of this mod.

I just did that and came here to apologize, but great response time! If I wouldn't have figured it out myself, you woulda told me. I've been playing the game this long and just now decided to read the build controls LOL.

Do not recommend. Cannot get to place correctly. Builds all fences halfway into ground. They do function like they should but I only have like 1 foot of fence lol.

@Sir Luis: Unless something changes in the FCS, a glass wall like that wouldn't be possible. We don't have the ability to add translucent surfaces to buildings, so all we can do for now is try to create the illusion of glass or water on an opaque surface, which I don't think would work in this case.

@SmittytheChemist I found the problem. They can create an outpost, but only if you don't already have an outpost in that zone. It's something connected to the way gates and walls link together so I can't do anything to stop it happening.

If you place a building that triggers creation of an outpost marker away from the area you want to camp in, but still in the same zone, then you can start to build your fences without making another outpost on the map.

@General Nuclear I forgot to leave a comment here, but I actually tried your suggestion, just to see what would happen. The result was my gunners thought they could shoot through it, but instead of a pile of dead cannibals I got a fence covered in harpoons lol

The fence and gate alone are creating outpost marker. Your mod is lowest on the list. Did I do something wrong?

Sorry I took so long to reply. No, you can only shoot through the gates. If you want a building to help you shoot over the fences, without creating an outpost, try the towers from these mods:

@Maximus Reward I don't think the fence's collision was the problem, the majority of the fences work just fine, and rebuilding the navmesh fixed any issues I had.

It looks like it's just an ordinary Kenshi wall bug. I tested a field full of Makeshift Walls and Swamp Fences and it happened with them as well.

@Mechanica No Problem at all mate, sorry for the late reply. When i put the fences higher yes that helped out alot, but rarely npc's still got through on random occasions. still love your mod tho, cant wait for collision update.

@ManuG Glad you like it! I've got a Skeleton base as well. Unwelcome visitors have to swim through a lake of acid to reach the gates :)

@josuamarques I'm ok with leaving your comments here, but there's a modding forum here on Steam that might be a better place to continue this discussion.

You've got some good ideas, although that's not a part of the FCS I have much experience with, so I can't say how much is possible. I know there's not a lot we can do when it comes to adding new functionality, but maybe someone else here could confirm whether any of it could be done?

One thing I can help you with is showing where damage occurred. If you go to General Options you can change the damage floaters to show full info.

@Mechanica: Thanks for this mod! I've been looking for simple fences like this or the swamp fences and such for long now! I bet they will look great on my techy "robots only" base :D

@josuamarques: Really a bit off topic here xD But the basic idea for weapon related perks sounds interesting. Tho i'd rate the katana type weapons as the "bleeders" among the weapons and would therefore put them more on the side to blood loss related things. The limb chop off sounds more like a hacker type of thing, like a cleavers perk for example.
