my brother in christ this mod is almost four years old, it's completely broken at this point
TurtleShroom 13. okt. 2024 kl. 20:01
This Mod breaks the succession of the Holy Roman Empire.
TurtleShroom 13. okt. 2024 kl. 19:32
I just noticed that this Mod apparently breaks the succession to the Holy Roman Empire...

Would it be possible to update your compatibility patches? I'm currently running just the Expanded series of mods and lite variation and its causing a crash before 1460 in Europe (but for some reason only Europe)
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 15. mar. 2021 kl. 5:00
Playing some eu4 again so mod is updated

@Five Eyes Blind: besides not having anything from Idea Variation, running without a comp patch I haven't ran into crashes so far
KawaiiKatana 14. jan. 2021 kl. 18:38
@WIDE KILLJOY , @Kapitalisti : How has your solution of running no compatch between GE and Idea Variation worked longterm? Any chrashes or bugs?
cbtendo 24. juli 2020 kl. 7:57
If I want to use gov expanded, mission expanded and idea variation light, which compatch should i use? both?
Kapitalisti 29. juni 2020 kl. 0:14
Thanks, that at least makes it usable, hopefully the bugs won't be too harsh. Would hate to scrap my France game before even getting to the revolution.
guimourap 26. juni 2020 kl. 1:06
It's not IDEAL, but it worked. I hope they fix this soon
guimourap 26. juni 2020 kl. 0:59
@Kapitalisti Running only GE and the Idea Variation (without this compatibility patch) worked for me
guimourap 26. juni 2020 kl. 0:52
@Kapitalisti im having the same issue
Kapitalisti 26. juni 2020 kl. 0:31
I'm having a problem with republican governments now: the Military Organization tier is completely missing for most countries with only a few GE reforms like the Peasant Republic and Italian reforms available. Most republics get a blank tier which means they're stuck and can't get the higher reforms, at all. I'm kinda at my wits end trying to figure out which mod is borking what at this point.
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 17. juni 2020 kl. 9:07
No worries, happy you solved it! :)
MonolySociable 17. juni 2020 kl. 8:43
@Morrolan Never mind. My apologies, seems to be another mod that is overwriting UI data which is causing the issue. I initially posted it because I though I disabled all mods that affected the UI but apparently not. It works fine with just Idea Variation Lite, Governments Expanded and the Compatibility patch enabled.
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 16. juni 2020 kl. 22:13
In a very very quick look I just did nothing seemed broken. As which country do you have this problem, and which other mods are you using? And which version of the Idea Variation are you using, lite or full?
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 16. juni 2020 kl. 22:06
Idea Variation updated again, that might have broken it. I'll take a look this evening.
MonolySociable 16. juni 2020 kl. 16:42
@Morrolan I think this might be out of date or broken some how. The Government expanded government reforms are missing. Well they are there but they are broken by a UI bug. The primary government reforms are still there but can't be revoked, and new primary reforms can't be selected, and all the new government reforms are missing because the UI is not displaying them.
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 14. juni 2020 kl. 13:39
No, nor will there be a patch that does. I've tried for several hours to make sense of a compatibility patch between the two and I could not get it to work to my standards. Too messy.
meudriant 14. juni 2020 kl. 13:36
@Morrolan there is no chance this works with regular idea variation right?
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 13. juni 2020 kl. 17:04
Updated for the current 1.30 versions of both mods.
@Idle: Got the government ideas working again. I already had the custom attributes on the base reform, the issue was that Governments Expanded had changed their mod name which f-ed up the loading order. Had to change the name in my dependencies.
Idle 4. juni 2020 kl. 9:17
Also, when applying this you only need to put this on the basic reform unless you need it to override, like for Monarchal plutocracies
Idle 4. juni 2020 kl. 9:16
This issue also plagued Flogi's compatibility patch with extended timeline but it hasn't been fixed there either last I checked
Idle 4. juni 2020 kl. 9:15
@[OLL]Morrolan I found the issue with unlocking the government ideas, you need to attach one fo these attributes to the governments:
custom_attributes = {
enables_monarchie_idea_group = yes/no
enables_republik_idea_group = yes/no
enables_diktatur_idea_group = yes/no
enables_theokratie_idea_group = yes/no
enables_horde_idea_group = yes/no
}

I agree Prussian general
SarcasticPrussia 6. feb. 2020 kl. 10:45
I would love if you could make a compatch like this for the standard Idea Variation, that would be amazing
Clonepilotz 22. dec. 2019 kl. 17:40
it would be awesome if he could i wish i knew how to do it personally but i THINK keyword its something to gov't expanded primary govts (eg republic) types for some reason the game thinks as of manchu patch that Idea variation's government ideas (eg horde etc) are overridden i found this out by deleting the goverment types file but it causes visual bugs eg red lines everywhere but it shows ideas tho :pepehands:
Niffum 3. nov. 2019 kl. 7:35
any chance you can make a comp patch for government expanded and normal idea variation? or does this work fine for that as well?
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 21. sep. 2019 kl. 13:42
I'm trying to solve this issue, but I can't find what is going wrong. Depending on the cause of the problem (finding) the fix might take me a while. Good call using console.
Carrrrry 21. sep. 2019 kl. 11:38
I encountered the same problem as @jdsonical. For now I just use console to unlock those idea groups if i want to pick them.
jdsonical 21. sep. 2019 kl. 7:32
It seems to me that when I enable both base mods and this mod, some idea groups do not appear. All government type idea groups(eg. horde, monachy etc.) are not shown. Plz help?
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 4. sep. 2019 kl. 11:23
Don't blame yourself, the workshop is extremely fiddly. Even now after years of using it I'm still mostly guessing what is going wrong. I'm just glad I could help, enjoy all the now working mods!
SkyRipper 4. sep. 2019 kl. 10:50
>.< i can't believe this shit:omfg: i have done like 4 or even 5 games with broken mods all because Steam Workshop failed me, i don't know when exactly they broke but after deleting all of it and re-download them it finally works, even my graphic mods changed XD fuuu Workshop the "work" in the name is a lie!!

Thanks a lot Morrolan for the suggestion i wish my stupidity didn't stop me from thinking about re-download them.
SkyRipper 4. sep. 2019 kl. 10:10
i missing stuff? jesus i had no idea, ok i will do that now, if steam fails i will use a workshop download site and see if that's better.
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 4. sep. 2019 kl. 10:00
@Lucifer I can't reproduce your exact situation, but you seem to be lacking a lot of mod reforms in that list. Please make sure you have enables both base mods for this patch (The Idea Variation Lite and Governments Expanded) and of course that you have enables this patch.

It could also be that the steam workshop has't updated the mods well. Try deleting the contents of your eu4 mod folder and letting steam redownload everything for you.

If neither of those things work, we could do some manual testing. You could zip to exact files you're using from your mod folder and send them to more or something. But first please double check the above options.
SkyRipper 4. sep. 2019 kl. 4:58
i turned the mods of and it really has something to do with Governments Expanded Idea Variation Light, Mission expanded didn't impact it.
SkyRipper 2. sep. 2019 kl. 16:30
Hi Morrolan, not sure if this is something to do with the patch but could you take a look at it.

That's some serious bug haha, i'm only using Mission Expanded and Gov Reform and Idea Lite.
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 28. aug. 2019 kl. 9:39
@SpaceScumbag I can't seem to reproduce it. What mods are you using?
SpaceScumbag 27. aug. 2019 kl. 17:18
It seems to not be working when playing the Iberian nations with exception of Granada
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 15. juli 2019 kl. 0:36
Done and done
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 15. juli 2019 kl. 0:10
No worries Crusher, comments keep me on my toes :)
And yes, GE update did probably break stuff. Taking a look now.
CrusherFTW 14. juli 2019 kl. 21:03
Well, its me again and again with a problem. Sorry for that but i think recent governments expanded update broke this patch.
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 14. juli 2019 kl. 1:13
Well I'm glad you figured it out :)
CrusherFTW 13. juli 2019 kl. 21:32
I figured out the problem. After redownloading again i just activated gov expanded, patch and the lite version it worked. I can see all the reforms. Turns out its out of my stupidity. Sorry
CrusherFTW 13. juli 2019 kl. 2:20
I did as you suggested and its still the same. But it still might be just on my end. Until someone else confirms its actually working i have to wait i presume.
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 12. juli 2019 kl. 8:14
Crusher, I can't reproduce it. All is working correctly on my end. I suggest you delete your mod folder contents and let steam redownload everything. The workshop is iffy at times, and a forced redownload can fix things.
CrusherFTW 9. juli 2019 kl. 9:54
Governments expanded,Idea variation lite and this mod
Morrolan  [ophavsmand] 9. juli 2019 kl. 3:45
Which mods exactly do you have active?
CrusherFTW 8. juli 2019 kl. 23:47
Normal version with the normal idea variation works just fine. Light version however doesnt work. Not sure if its me or the mod.
CrusherFTW 8. juli 2019 kl. 23:39
Nope still not showing up for me. Did reinstall it. I just see the vanilla reforms, interesting.
