I really don't see how that matters considering you're driving the vehicle *today*, in 2020, not 1970/80 something :). Except for a very few exceptions, none of the other vehicles driving around with you in traffic existed back then either...
No reason the gearbox couldn't have been retrofitted at some point. However, to answer your actual question, I suspect not though I don't know for certain.
