Ah, makes sense. It hadn't occured to me that the attempt was made with a stolen gem.

actuly i figured it out, you see you need a specific skill to sell stollen items, and i was able to sell one that didient have the stollen tag and the black one didint have that tag, but the black one from the arch mage qaurters was stollen and couldent be ssold

DragonMaster, I imagine they will only buy your black ones because during the game the regular stars are (or were) at one point, a quest item.

why will they only but my black stars and not my normal ones cuz i wana sell the normal ones and keep the black ones

If you can use a regular Grand Soul gem to do it, I would imagine it should work with Azura's Star. As I have not tested it though, I cannot say for certain that it will. If you try it, go ahead and let me know if it works.

thx also can you use a black star with grand soul to cure your self of vamirisum via the special quest?

To acquire the star at the Riverwood Trader, it is required that you steal it. How you do this is up to you. The easiest way is to simply break in there at night when the occupants should be sleeping, and steal it. If they do not see you steal it, they should not attack nor will the guards.

don't be embarassed because you couldn't find the aretino residence. It took me 3 months to find it.

how do i get the rirverwood star with out stealing?

So, I started a new game and found the first azura's star in the Riverwood Trader, but it does not say "take", it says steal, and when i try to take it, they attack me. What should I do about this?

I don't know about you, but to me I hate using the console commands because to me it takes away from the fluidity and realism of the gameplay, so this makes such things blend into the regular gameplay, therefore not taking away from the experience of the game in any shape or form.

Friendly suggestion here. If I were you I would move the bit of the description asking people to rate, sub, etc. Anywhere other than the very top works.

That is the only and first thing you see when hovering the mouse over your mod to get a preview. It makes people not want to view it, and desn't give any info on it. Again, just a tip! Good luck and happy modding.

good mod though, not everyone can do the commands like that, i have a hard time figuring it out sometimes
