idk

thank you but i'm wondering what in the mod makes it do that ? because with frosty winter physics it gets even more slippery, but when you turn the wheels too much the truck will go straight or turn a little bit in the direction you are turning but never in the opposite direction

I'm unsure how accurate SCS physics are.
Here's real-life advice on oversteer recovery:

Bobby Jan 15 @ 2:53am
why when it slips and understeers the truck start going to the opposite direction of where you turn?
like if you go straight, then steer one turn to the left the truck start going to the right

Awesome mod, make sure to use the correct tires or you will fly lol

not enough info from you to understand problem. it works fine for me. read comments below.

can you fix the part when your mod glitches out the game . and makes the trucks fly through air to stop
Eddie Yantz  [author] Nov 16, 2021 @ 11:13am
Some people report this issue. I have rarely experienced it. Significant variables exist.

1) What tires are you using? With this mod ("Slippery"), you need tires with a wet_grip of A or B. If you're using tires with an unknown wet_grip, that could be the issue. Tires in ATS typically don't display wet_grip; tires from my mod show wet_grip in their names (example: "Vortex 285/75 CD73" has wet_grip "D" {second letter"}, which is not a good tire for "Slippery".)

Examples of acceptable tires for "Slippery" are "Dynamix Heavy Duty 295/75 EB75", "Goodyear Fuel Max RTD 295/75 CB72", or "Goodyear Fuel Max SSD DuraSeal 445/50 CB75".

2) With "Slippery" trailer tire selection is important, too, because trailer brakes are sometimes needed to prevent jackknifing. "B" is not as critical for trailers, but make sure the grippiest trailer tires are at the very rear of your trailer(s)

3) Drive carefully. When you lose traction, you WILL crash (go flying).

this mod makes my truck go flying very high in the air.

any way to fix this?

Part One:

You cannot 'use' them both at the same time; you can enable them both at the same time, but the one on top rules.

"Dry" version is like default game play, with slightly less adherent surfaces than default so tire choice makes a difference. (Default muddy roads are slippery; using "Dry" doesn't change that).

"Slippery" version simulates snowy roads (snow not included); your tires have less grip (stopping takes longer, you may slide, on a curve your trailer may jack knife if you're not careful (learn how to use trailer brakes). "Slippery" requires good driving skills; once you lose traction, you WILL crash!!

Both "Dry" and "Slippery" versions uniformly change road surface adherence.
Eddie Yantz  [author] Nov 14, 2021 @ 11:10pm
Part Two:

Both "Dry" and "Slippery" versions make tire choices important (I always use 'B' or 'A'' tires)*:
They add behavior parameters to SCS ATS' tires (i.e., fuel economy, grip, and noise}. ETS2's default tires have these parameters, and they show in ETS' Truck-Dealer GUI. When these parameters are added to tires in ATS, the game reacts accordingly; however, the Truck-Dealer GUI's don't show them like ETS2 does; therefore (in these mods), they exist in each tire's name so you know what you're buying (e.g., CB71).*

In "Slippery" choice of trailer tires becomes extra important; on multiple trailers make sure your most aft trailer tires are grippier than those ahead of it. If your most aft trailer tires are not the grippiest tires, your trailer(s) will still jackknife when you apply trailer brakes.

I was stationed (USCG) in Barrow for six months in 1975 : dead of winter to spring (Jan-Jun). I never traveled around, but wow was that an experience of a life time!
AlconburyBlues Nov 11, 2021 @ 3:40am
Several eons ago, I had a choice of joining the RAF or the USAF (dual citizen). I joined the USAF and was stationed at both Elmendorf (Anchorage) and Eielson (Fairbanks). Got a taste of those roads up in Fairbanks, but during the Alaskan summer, it's quite charming.

Thanks, I have played Dalton; the 1:1 is too much for me.

I've learned much more about modding since I last played Dalton and looked at his chains. Thanks for the reminder, I'll look again.

BTW, my brother has lived in Alaska for forty years. Last time he visited me, I showed him some of Dalton. He said besides missing some detail, it was quite accurate !!
AlconburyBlues Nov 10, 2021 @ 2:21am
@Eddie, I've been playing with Grime's Frosty for a while now, plus the Winter Sounds addon for YDS's Sound Fixes Pack. I love it like crazy. Since Chicago is my American home-town (born in UK but moved here) I love winter weather.

Apart from that, I also have a separate profile for the Dalton Elliot route. It has the tire chains you want. But it's a standalone map on 1:1 scale and only for the bold, who have that much time on their hands to do real-time/real-mileage. Also, it has the snow and physics built-in, except the winter sounds.

Since the tire-chains mod from the D-E route is a separate file, you might be able to use it by itself on the regular map. Just keep in mind that not only does it add tire-chains, but it also changes the physics a bit to be more "grippy".

I read everything you commented after my post of the link, I am not a modder by any stretch of the imagination, so I am not touching any of those mods. However I am more than willing to work with you to test your mod in conjunction with those mods and see if we can get things sorted out. I dont want the traction to be too good, I wanna be able to get stuck, as I like the challenge, however having the entire truck violently spinning out of control as if to be in a tornado makes the game unplayable with your mod. I tried it with frostys mod and traction was not an issue but there were parts of the map glitching out and missing so it was awkward to drive and see a bottomless black hole on either side of me if that makes sense. I am not sure if you got the Alaska map that I linked earlier but that is the map i would be using if I were to do any testing for you.
Eddie Yantz  [author] Nov 9, 2021 @ 10:18am
I am eager to try his mod with Grime's Frosty mod in ATS proper :) I have long desired a chained-tire mod; this could be it :)
Eddie Yantz  [author] Nov 9, 2021 @ 10:13am
Part One:

I've looked inside nitrotire mod; some tires have better traction than others (i.e., "wet_grip" in SCS speak; the higher the wet_grip, the better the traction (to a point).)

On his Facebook page Nitro states ". . . understand that the slider only works in 1 direction. So if you tried to have a 100,000 grip rated tire, you will not achieve levels of "super grip" as the slider always stops at 0, 0 being max traction (the game does not read negative values for this type of offset)."

I've never modded maps, so I don't understand the interaction of "slippery surface" and "wet_grip". Therefore I'm loathe to mess with his wet_grip values; SCS rates wet_grip values >=1.25 as an A (i.e. best possible); nitro's wet_grip's range from 1 to 3.2.

Eddie Yantz  [author] Nov 9, 2021 @ 10:11am
Part two:

His best tire for traction is "Dynamix Heavy Duty Chain (Double)": (wet_grip[]: 3.2),
followed closely by "Goodyear Fuel Max RTD Chain (Double)": (wet_grip[]: 2.975).

His "okay" tires (wet_grip[]: ~2) are "Dynamix Heavy Duty Chain (Single)", "Dynamix Chain (Double)", "Roadmaster Chain (Double)", "Vortex Chain (Double)", "Goodyear Endurance LHD Chain (Double)", and "Goodyear Fuel Max RTD Chain (Single)".

His worse tires (wet_grip[]: 1) are "Dynamix Chain (Single)", "Roadmaster Chain (Single)", "Vortex Chain (Single)", "Goodyear Endurance LHD Chain (Single).

All his tires are missing noise_volume, making them quiet, which chained tires are not. SCS tires hoover between "noise_volume: 69" and "noise_volume: 73". SCS uses dB for this value, so I would suggest "noise_volume: 77".
Eddie Yantz  [author] Nov 9, 2021 @ 10:11am
Part Three:
If you want to edit his tire coding, The format is . . .

roll_resistance: 7.5 //lousy fuel economy
wet_grip: 3.2 //superb grip
noise_volume: 77 //very noisy

and you can put a hint in the tire name regarding its wet_grip.
example:
name: "Dynamix Heavy Duty Chain (Double) A+++"
or
name: "Dynamix Heavy Duty Chain (Double) 3.2"

file location is /def/vehicle/r_tire/

Let me know if tire choice helps :)

Eddie Yantz  [author] Nov 8, 2021 @ 10:21am
please give me ma link to "Nitro Mods Chained Tires", I'll see what I can do :)
Michael Permigiani Nov 8, 2021 @ 9:52am
I am using Nitro Mods Chained Tires on Vipers 389 i have a 8x6 with chains on all three rear axles. I am using this mod on the new PAID Alaska Map mod, it drives okay under 15-20 mph but if I go off the road by accident it goes absolutely nuts. Its hard to stay on the road due to the fog which is part of the map as I have no other weather mods but the map lacks in physics for being an ice road and I am looking for that extra challenge. If there is any way I can help you solve this problem feel free to reach out. Thank you for the quick reply.
Eddie Yantz  [author] Nov 8, 2021 @ 9:39am
yes, people have complained of this. I'm still trying to figure out the common cause. It works great for some and horrible for others. With this mod, tire choice is critical; what tires are you using?
Michael Permigiani Nov 8, 2021 @ 9:20am
Anyone else having their truck violently spinning out of control flipping multiple times and falling through the map as if it had been tossed about like a tornado? I like the traction changes to this mod but when my truck flips out, literally, it is a bit much.
Eddie Yantz  [author] Sep 4, 2021 @ 5:27pm
SNOW? I use Grimes Frosty for snow: https://grimesmods.wordpress.com/

PHYSICS MODs?? Physics mods from different authors will overwrite each other but may supplement each other. I doubt the will conflict. The mod on top in Mod Manager rules. Try using more than one to see which you like better. The Dalton Elliott Hwy map mod has a tire-chain physics module - I may try it with this mod

BRAKE FAD? No, brakes don't overheat ingame :(

SLIPPERY? This mod depends very much on tire parameters; only SCS tires are tuned in this mod. Modded tires may or may not work properly.
Ender Aug 14, 2021 @ 6:09pm
could you make a snow mod with snow on the ground i cant find any
dodgeboy121 Aug 13, 2021 @ 2:46pm
noob question here... is this compatible with momo's physics?
tsaybife Jul 8, 2021 @ 8:53pm
Will there be a snow texture on the ground for the mod like replace rain with snow?
Chernovskygames Jun 18, 2021 @ 3:02pm
well, does there is brake overheat or the possibility of loosing the brakes?
Peter Griffin Dec 19, 2020 @ 11:01pm
Suggestion: Maybe make A snow mod? I've been trying to find A snow mod with snow on the ground, but never found any.
JudgementalHand Dec 19, 2020 @ 11:09am
So, I'm using this Mod, and I'm not noticing much... Like, I never slip, never lose traction, and never slide. I've got wide tires on all of my truck axles, though. Is this why? Are they super OP?

I just don't like that I can drive 70 in the "think snow" and not worry about anything other than braking on normal roads. I'd love it if this mod could force me to drive slower. Am I doing something wrong? Like I said, maybe the tires are just awesome and I need to downgrade to get a better feel?
0xferd™ Nov 27, 2020 @ 12:40pm
yeah i started using the H shifter with range and splitter thats why i said missing gears while slowing down... it sometimes happens
Eddie Yantz  [author] Nov 27, 2020 @ 12:22pm
idk, try it it to find out;) I always use AMT transmissions, which don't miss shifts.
0xferd™ Nov 27, 2020 @ 10:36am
anyways im curious with this mod active would it like do something like this?
Like lets say you were fighting a uphill incline and with this mod active that makes the roads icy...
And as your inclining on the steep hill you were downshifting and actidently missed a gear that messed you up and ended coming to a complete stop and spinning out on the hill....
would it do something like that?
0xferd™ Nov 27, 2020 @ 10:29am
the Goodyear G177 and/or the Goodyear G372A LHD I use for the rear tires
the Michelin XDN2 i use sometimes for the rear...
Eddie Yantz  [author] Nov 27, 2020 @ 9:45am
which tires are for rear?
0xferd™ Nov 27, 2020 @ 9:31am
btw @Eddie Yantz
the tires I use for semis is
Goodyear G661 HSA 11R22.5 for front wheels
Goodyear G177 or the Goodyear G372A LHD
even the fat wide good year tire...
but for Michelin I use the
Michelin X Line Energy for the front wheels...
Michelin XDN2 for rear wheels....
i think thos types i described will work fine? maybe? idk...
