I get you. Thanks for these amazing environment mate would love to see another IMAX themed one in the future

Sorry a front row version would be hard to do, because I've lost some of my original files from making this. The existing geometry and textures at the front are reduced in quality because they are supposed to be far away from the viewer so it wouldn't look good sitting there

Is there a front row version?

..i just watched bill & ted's excellent adventure in 4K IMAX all 90 minutes & it barely drifted at all..now I wanna play some retro games on it! the seating position is perfect & this is exactly where i use to sit in the IMAX @ Navy Pier, Chicago..oh & I tested 3D on Jim Carrey's A Christmas Carol..yep its just like IMAX 3D..i highly recommend finding open matte IMAX versions of your favorite movies..theyre out there in the wild..now that ive got a routine for center stability..finally gonna watch Dune 3D- part two 4K..Tron 1 & Legacy 3D..Blade Runner 1 & 2049..i just watched Back to the Future 4K 60 FPS IMAX..I cried:steamthumbsup::steamthis:

ok ive been in virtual desktop for 24 hours total..all in HighMax Dark Version..more observations..the green exit lights on each side for me are markers to know that your screen is perfectly center..if the headset gyroscope/magnetometer drifts..which is fair because the earth rotates 15 degrees every hour right? if you see those exit signs at all during the movie..time to 'reset orientation'..if its going crazy drift..take headset off..sit on flat surface..reset to center..go to the restroom..refill drink..come back..much better stable viewing for long periods..id struggled w/ this in Sony PSVR1 & PC Samsung Odyssey+..so much Id get frustrated heartbroken & just pack it all away..but the flat surface reset works

sharp as fvck on Samsung Odyssey+ OLED headset..other basic environments have too many distracting light reflections for me but theyre still cool..some people want more light..I want that authentic experience..not going to IMAX theater again when I just watch this..im serious..I wanna feel like I do in the theater & this one nails it..so after I watched that I got all excited & downloading more movies now..Id been waiting to watch Dune bluray on my PSVR but..this experience is even better..oh & remember that Nintendo movie w/ Fred Savage where he played in that NES tournament on a big theater screen w/ a Power Glove..definitely gotta do that w/ some retro games on IMAX screen:steamthis:

THIS is the one..the only environment we need..thus it doesnt get any better than VD..but bigscreen has its place as a social space..but that also means they dont have a true cinema experience dimminf of lights..because they want people looking at each others avatars in the theater & talkin shii while theyre watching movies..so I highly recommend this HIMAX screen..why watch it anywhere else..im in bed w/ my feet up..yet i legit feel like Im in a HIMAX theater..I got subpac bass on my back..another yamaha surround & woofer in front all around me..its crazy..i just did this last nite so Im extra charged about it..I used to watch ALL IMAX movies so I know what they look like from the best center seating positions..whoever made this environment nailed it..i watched Princess Bride..its actually a holiday movie if you think about it..got the 4K version..i mean it really feels like im there..

Hi! Thank you so much for making this! I did have one request, I was wondering if it might be possible to have a back-row version with black seats, instead of red?
ianhz Mar 5, 2024 @ 8:17pm
Hey, this is awesome! Any chance that you release a version with more NPCs spread out across the theater? That'd add a lot to the immersion.
CO_Bladerider Jan 30, 2024 @ 11:25pm
Thank you! I will check it out soon!
Bowlcut  [author] Jan 29, 2024 @ 11:56pm
Please try this 1.43 aspect ratio, back row version: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U_JsgMVydR5OJwTsroi9LTjgnm0IHtTx/view?usp=sharing

I just discovered this, it's amazing! Would it be possible to combine the 1.43 version with the back row version? I'd be grateful. Thanks!

Thank you for the new cinema! I tried and didn't feel it quite different but I am happy with screen size now. I think maybe it is caused by the reduced binocular overlap on my new headset and I am getting used to it.

Thank you for the reply! I tried "Override World Scale" but it only had effect on the scale of the seats. The dome and the screen remained in the same size. I set the world scale to 107% in other games so I guess the screen is roughly 7% smaller. I want to know if it is possible to enlarge the whole model by 7%?
Bowlcut  [author] Jul 8, 2023 @ 7:53am
Using "Override World Scale" in the SteamVR per-application video settings should change the scale of everything including the screen.
DATV做到了我心趴上 Jul 8, 2023 @ 12:14am
Hi Bowlcut. I just received my new headset, in which the world scale seems to be a little bit smaller than the PICO4 and Quest 2 I used before. I tried to change the IPD scale of the steamVR but it only affected the size of the seats and the screen remained in the same size. Is there anyway to increase the scale of the whole environment including the screen?

1.43 ratio version is just amazing.
Bowlcut  [author] Feb 6, 2023 @ 5:33pm
Hi M99, here is a version of the Highmax cinema with a 1.43 aspect ratio. Note that for it to work correctly you will need to set your monitor resolution to something with the same aspect ratio, for example I tried it with 1544x1080.

Hi Bowlcut, Thanks for this amazing environment! I want to watch imax films in the native 1.43 aspect ratio, however the footage is displayed pillar boxed and the image as a whole is reduced. I was wondering whether it would be possible for you to create a version that displays 1.43, by increasing the viewing area both at the top and bottom of the screen?
Kungpaoshizi Jan 5, 2023 @ 5:52am
Cool! I like the imax theaters
Bowlcut  [author] Jul 10, 2022 @ 5:04pm
Great! I believe double-clicking on the downloaded .vde file copies it into the correct location
extra_net Jul 10, 2022 @ 8:06am
I had no idea how to include the back row version. Luckily it was very easy. I'm not sure if I should move the vde file somewhere else for it to be picked up buts that's not important right now. When it started I literally said Holy Sh*t!!! I feel like the kid at the end of the first Incredibles movie saying "That was wicked!" . I might have to rewatch some movies on this incredible screen :)
Bowlcut  [author] Jul 9, 2022 @ 6:20am
There is a hacked together version that seats you in the back row available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12W3omi7RwyNiz8bmYvR7FqICUIRXnXYb/view?usp=sharing

I can't find my old files to do it properly so some textures look bad but it is usable
extra_net Jul 9, 2022 @ 4:17am
Hi. I saw your comments on another environment which reminded me about this one. It is great and I know this environment has been an inspiration to other creators. But as the previous comment noted, it is difficult to view the whole screen.
DaftMike21 May 11, 2022 @ 3:45pm
There should be an option to sit further back to get the entire screen for FOV
hitmobile Nov 29, 2021 @ 1:53pm
This environment makes Virtual Desktop (the PC version) worth the money so thank you! I've spend countless hours watching stuff in this theater. Excellent.
ladiesman0073 May 16, 2020 @ 1:20pm
wonder if you could do 100 % real HOBIT HIGHMAX guys :) ?
John Jun 8, 2019 @ 3:55am
Really good environment, but it would've been perfect if the screen had "Oculus Layers" (quad/cylindrical), just so we could use it without the "transparent option" and without supersampling.
Nutcracker May 5, 2019 @ 5:14pm
For something to play normal 2d games in, its a fun experience because the tv is huge and because the stuff behind you is low quality, so it doesnt affect performance. Gaming 10/10 Being a movie theater 7/10
Viper Mar 25, 2019 @ 9:05am
ticking transparent on or off has no effect
Viper Mar 25, 2019 @ 8:13am
black screen on rift windows 7...being rendered around extreme edge of view.
any thoughts or help?
Moxic Jan 29, 2019 @ 7:03pm
its great i love it
Bowlcut  [author] Oct 25, 2018 @ 11:13am
Try ticking 'Transparent' under Screen options, that fixed it for someone else
batt3ryac1d Oct 25, 2018 @ 10:50am

Calius Sep 25, 2018 @ 1:31am
