Ah, that's too bad. As a compromise I've posted a discussion thread with some instructions for modifying Aloth's dispositions yourself - all it takes is a basic text editor and a willingness to potentially destroy your computer.

I'm joking. It won't destroy your computer. At least I'm 99.9% sure it won't, and you'll rarely get better odds than that in life.

FYI, the "Agreeable Aloth" mod does not work anymore. I just tested it and, while I was getting reputation that showed up in conversations, everyone still had 0 under their name.

Tarlonniel, I would also love an option with skulduggery removed, but I understand that it is not your responsibility to do this. I'm glad I at least have this option because my Templar is kind of just as picky as Aloth is, but not exactly in the same ways.

Thank you for your reply. I'll check out your other mod, then.

Okay, I get it now, though your assumption that the game swaps anti-traditional for anti-progressive isn't right - Aloth is always anti-traditional (which I found odd for a number of reasons).

Aloth's dispositions aren't bugged (any more). What's in game is what the writers wanted. A year ago there were some long fan discussions on the official forums about whether he *should* have more positive dispositions, and if so, which ones. Based on those arguments, I made this mod. My goal was to change things... but not too much. Picky, grumpy Aloth has a purpose that I didn't want to take away from him. And I think the dispositions I picked fit him pretty well whether he's pro- or anti- Leaden Key.

We can discuss this further in an actual discussion thread if you like, but right now I'm not inclined to make any changes. Especially since I don't even have the game installed anymore. Check out "Agreeable Aloth" over on Nexus - it uses different dispositions and might be more to your liking.

Sorry, despite my best attempt, this still got a tad out of hand... Steam's letter-count forced me to cut it to pieces. I hope you still get the gist of it...

The second version should be a Pro LK Aloth: adding positive disposition with "Pro Leaden Key", "Traditionalist" and "Skulduggery", also adding negative disposition with "Anti Leaden Key".
This results in an Aloth with another 9 dispositions (as I hope the game swaps out +Autonomy and -Traditionalist for +Stewardship and -Progressive), 5 positive (Pro Leaden Key, Traditionalist, Stewardship, Duty and Skulduggery) and 4 negative dispositions (Anti Leaden Key, Progressive, Irresponsible and Pride).

Still no easier to get to disposition level 2, but now he is going to adore you for pulling the wool on all kith...

To me, this makes more sense for Aloth, given his position in the game's universe in either world-state: he is either in The Deadfire to end The Leaden Key or to strengthen The Leaden Key, and his disposition set should reflect this.

OK, I have just deleted a long, slightly incoherent rant, to sum it up instead:
Regarding Aloth's personal quest, I'll have to take your word on he reacts differently, as I have only completed the game with an anti LK Aloth. That aside...

What I'm asking, is: I would like this to be two mods, as Aloth's dispositions have been bugged and summarily cut without new additions - see the pic of his ver. 5 dispositions I've uploaded for quick reference.

The first version should be an Anti LK Aloth: adding positive disposition with "Anti Leaden Key", "Progressive" and "Resourcefullness", also adding negative disposition with "Pro Leaden Key".
This results in an Aloth with 9 dispositions, 5 positive (Autonomy, Anti Leaden Key, Progressive, Duty and Resourcefullness) to 4 negative (Pro Leaden Key, Traditional, Irresponsible, Pride).

He's still going to be hard to get to disposition level 2, but not as hard as is (and he is still going to hate Teheku from the bottom of his heart...).

Yes, Aloth will have slightly different dispositions depending on whether he's pro- or anti-Leaden Key, and it will affect how he reacts to things. That's still in the game and my mod doesn't change it at all.

There was a bug at launch where he was assigned both sets of dispositions (and that's when I took the above screenshot), but it has since been fixed.

If that wasn't what you were asking... I'm not sure what you're asking?

Isn't this a One-Size-Does-Not-Quite-Fit-All Aloth? I seem to remember from my first playthrough (@ FS release) that Aloth had Pro- and Anti Leaden Key options too.
Game long since updated, so I can't load a save to check... :(
It sorta means you need two Aloth disposition sets: one where he is pro Leaden Key (imported as head of the order) and an anti Leaden Key (imported as dismantleling the order).
Sadly, it trickles down into his personal quest too, and that might be why is has been removed/changed...
Could I maybe inspire you to make two such disposition profiles for Aloth, since this is waaaaaaaaaaaaay above my minute modding skills. (maybe including tweaks in his personal quest... (see "FG's Woedican Aloth" Mod for inspiration to the pro LK Aloth))

That should be all you need to do. The mod panel shows which mods you have and if they're enabled or disabled - I assume they're automatically enabled, but if not, you can enable them yourself.

There is another disposition mod on the Nexus, which hasn't been updated. My version there is the same as the one here, though (it's under my Aloth Romance Extension mod).

so I hit subscribed and steam downloaded the mod. it shows in the mod window in game. does that mean it is installed or is there something else i need to do? i thought i would need to do something else but i dont know where the mod file is located. thanks. i usually use nexus but i used this since its updated and the one on nexus has not been updated.

A much needed mod! It's been frustrating that Aloth's negative "Pride" attribute seems to apply to so many things that.... have nothing to do with pride. It's been tough building up the stats. There's "hard work" characters and then there's tediously having to play the "No Fun Allowed" watcher. Good job!
Tarlonniel  [author] Nov 6, 2018 @ 5:02pm
He's definitely meant to be Mr. Grumpy Cat unless you play a rather narrow range of Watchers. On the other hand, he has a significant amount of content on the negative path, which is worth checking out.

There's a Nexus mod which adds a different set of dispostions to Aloth, if mine seem too wonky. It hadn't been updated for some time but I believe it still works.

God, THANK YOU. I've been looking forward to the Aloth romance (which I've always headcanoned anyway), and was dismayed to find him grumping at me any time I chose what I thought was a fun dialogue option!

Not sure about giving him the positive attitude toward skullduggery, since he doesn't seem to particularly respect it more than any other tactic and expresses some regret at using it as much as he does, just sees it as another useful tool to accomplish what must be done. But overall, this goes a long way toward balancing him out. Thanks for sharing!
Tarlonniel  [author] Oct 1, 2018 @ 8:58pm
With positive approval, you'll get one set of conversations and reactions; with negative approval, you'll get a different set. In Aloth's case it also affects the romance.

btw what happend when our friends like or hate you??
Tarlonniel  [author] Sep 25, 2018 @ 9:02pm
I'm not sure what there is to add. He'll approve of choices flagged as "skulduggery" and "resourcefulness," along with the ones he normally approves of ("dutiful" and "autonomy"/"stewardship").

Could you give a few more details about how Aloth's disposition is affected in the mod description? He has differing outlooks in Deadfire based off the events of the first game, so the single image doesn't do much to communicate precisely what your mod does.
