Crosshair mods are the easiest. Just go to your main menu, go to mods, click the mod. (it should show next to the mod its active.) Optional reload and go play.

how to how to activate?
DCDarkling  [author] Sep 14, 2014 @ 3:44pm
Yes.. technicly the rest of the crosshairs still have a bit blurred colours due to the old compressions. (so left and right sides arent identical in terms of colour)
But I did not see that as a big problem. (else I would just put in the old pure dds). I only fixed the centre dot.

So that's why I felt that the Parasite crosshair was a bit redder than it was supposed to be. Thanks for the fix!
DCDarkling  [author] Sep 14, 2014 @ 12:17pm
Parasite crosshair was bugged due to compression. Compression removed on the main file. So mod is bigger now on the nonhit dds.
I didnt see any real problems with the compression pixels in other parts (yet)

Cheers!
Remember (mostly competitive players) that if servers do not have a fully up to date consistency, you may need to use my 'other' version of these crosshairs.

I update both so no worries. :)

fixed a blur on a crosshairs edge

IF and only if you play on competitive servers which are slow in fixing their consistency for the new exo crosshair 'rules' you can use the mod I uploaded for that specific goal here:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=211524429

Its called "DCDs Crosshairs (OLD/OUTDATED Consistency)"

This problem will show if you simply do not get the mod to load. (console will show a error message)
If you play mainly on public servers you do not need to worry about anything.
If you play mainly competitive, well.. those servers will probably fix their consistency 'soon' as its the new way to do exo crosshairs.

I like it. I have hated that i had no cross with the alien bite.
DCDarkling  [author] Dec 20, 2013 @ 4:55pm
@Lagtacular. Thanks, that was the idea. To mix the ns2 crosshair look with a practical all-use dot and make it suitable for all attacks.

They look good
DCDarkling  [author] Dec 19, 2013 @ 10:34am
Updated the following:
* added a empty blank exo crosshair dot as the mixed variant performs the job perfectly fine.
Special thanks to UWE for not telling us in the patchnotes that they made a exo dot.
Special thanks to Mendaps for telling me. :D
DCDarkling  [author] Sep 3, 2013 @ 1:46pm
Updated the following:
* Added a few lightblue and darkblue lines on the 'shared xhair' to help distinguish it a tiny bit better from the surroundings in alien vision.
* Added a blueish dot in the parasite/spike xhair. (using only yellow or brown tints proved to not work, and melee was already using blue)
* Edited the crosshairs-hit file accordingly.
* Edited pictures accordingly.
* Edited compare picture to include the newer original crosshairs, which now also contain a dot. (although mine works in both light & dark)

UPDATE SOON!
Im working out how to best display the alien xhair for para/spike and the shared xhair, on alien vision. Goal is to do this without resorting to changing it to brutal.

I may take a day or 2, to test ingame on a testmod how well it works on color, visibility in dark/light areas and its look. But im working on it.
RhysClark97 Aug 13, 2013 @ 2:04pm
thanks man, might get it now
DCDarkling  [author] Aug 13, 2013 @ 1:59pm
Sure.. I added the non hit original versions in a 2nd picture. So there ya go.
Plenty difference, the biggest ones being the Crosshair replacing nothing & the middledot which actually works on both dark and light surfaces.
RhysClark97 Aug 13, 2013 @ 12:24pm
could you upload a comparison picture because i am not sure of difdference
LucK_ Jul 25, 2013 @ 7:40am
I like.
DCDarkling  [author] Jul 24, 2013 @ 10:59am
I wasnt worried. technicly a xhair mod is simply enought so I know it cant cause that. :)
~m00n~ Jul 23, 2013 @ 4:19pm
Sorry I raged and didnt realize I was in a pregame lobby were the xhair does not show.
DCDarkling  [author] Jul 23, 2013 @ 5:49am
@Teckademics. Update your drivers or treat it as a standard crosshair problem. There is no way a xhair replacement can cause that on its own.
~m00n~ Jul 22, 2013 @ 4:11pm
I tabed out and came back to no crosshair. unsub

Best crosshairs for NS2.
DCDarkling  [author] Jun 28, 2013 @ 2:38pm
Update:
* Added the middle aim stripe to the GL/Flame xhair for the GL.
* Added a 'aim' stripe on the right of the GL/Flame to make the player remember that the grenade shoots out the launcher from the right side towards the middle, rather then shoot from the middle.
* Fixed preview to represent actual ingame xhairs better. Old picture had a overshown glow.
DCDarkling  [author] Jun 27, 2013 @ 10:55am
GL now uses the same xhair as the flamethrower. I will update the crosshairs in the next few days to reflect this change. So stay tuned.. (Or do not as it auto downloads the change haha)

Thx :D

Click 'subscribe'. It will download the mod for your game. Then in the game option (In NS2 under mods), enable the mod itself. restart game.
Buinkkk Jun 24, 2013 @ 11:07pm
how to use these kind of mods?
ŽoNKeÐ Jun 23, 2013 @ 1:09pm
Looks good.

ive been needing a new one
The Tux Jun 23, 2013 @ 11:31am
cool!!
Sturm-Falke101 Jun 22, 2013 @ 5:29pm
Looks amazing, I have only tried this one, but so far it is the perfect merge between functionality and prettyness!
DCDarkling  [author] Jun 21, 2013 @ 11:19am
These crosshairs are for folk who 'lose' a small dot, even if it is in the bloody middle of the screen.
I HAVE a axe crosshair. I was sure 'Everything else' was pretty clear on that.

Aliens, GL, axe, exo all share 1 crosshair which is why that one looks so weird.
The yellow is partially a reminder for aliens that a real melee attack is selected, and not like parasite.
The dot in the middle is for exo, axe and stuff like that. The line is to give a sort of feel for a GL.
Stark NS2 Jun 20, 2013 @ 4:53pm
i like simple greeen crossair , this could make you more distract about aimming

but anyway cool mod :)) , you should add Axe crossair
DCDarkling  [author] May 20, 2013 @ 8:55am
Made public for release
DCDarkling  [author] May 11, 2013 @ 2:50pm
Made some changes to the "rifle" and "everything else" crosshair.
The everything else crosshair was hard to use in alien melee. If I like the change I will update the preview picture.
