2025 and still have it in my mod list.
VengefulAncient  [author] Jul 3 @ 7:39am
@Fredward Happy that people still find such a simple mod useful :) At some point I really need to update the version to make the warning go away lol
Fredward Jun 30 @ 5:10pm
been using this since 2020, great mod and god bless
Odoxon Oct 28, 2022 @ 1:50pm
@VengefulAncient Thanks for the reply, it was indeed answering my question.
If your question is directet to me, then I don't know. I don't know how common this bug is either, I haven't seen many others having the same problem as me
VengefulAncient  [author] Oct 26, 2022 @ 6:55am
@Odoxon Do you mean the filenames? They're emblem.dds , emblem_alt.dds , emblem_white.dds , and emblem_alt_white.dds . Pretty sure they should be the same on your end if you check the mod folder :jcdenton: Sorry if that's not what you mean though - I'll gladly check if you can tell me where to look.

That said, IDK what I was smoking to name them just "emblem" and not something more unique like "unip_flag". That's probably what's causing the bug, there must be at least one other modder out there who was as careless as me and didn't come up with a more unique name. If that's the case, will it break the mod for all existing saves with it if I update it and rename the .dds files?
Odoxon Oct 24, 2022 @ 1:06pm
@VengefulAncient Flag symbols are encoded as "flag_category_number.dds", (for example "flag_spherical_21.dds") and I need to know "the code" for the U.N.I.P emblem.
VengefulAncient  [author] Oct 20, 2022 @ 4:32pm
@Odoxon Sorry, could you please clarify what you mean by "the code" in this context?
Odoxon Oct 18, 2022 @ 7:51am
What is the code for any of the emblems? I need to edit my user-empire save game because I have this annyoing bug where your empire's flag suddenly changes after you've loaded the game for a second time.
Guy Incognito Sep 18, 2022 @ 10:02am
magnificent flag, definitely the flag I needed for my Terran Federation LP
Arman18 Jun 10, 2022 @ 8:36am
thank you, awesome job
VengefulAncient  [author] Jun 10, 2022 @ 6:56am
@Arman18 Both flags now available in white. Also bumped mod version for Cepheus cosmetic compatibility
VengefulAncient  [author] Jun 9, 2022 @ 1:42pm
@Arman18 I'll look into it this weekend :)
Arman18 Jun 9, 2022 @ 10:07am
Can you make this emblem in white
–Phase– Dec 29, 2021 @ 10:12pm
Saw this flag in the show and the first thing I thought was, "This would look great in Stellaris."
Came to the workshop to look around and found this. Thanks for making this mod
leojo231094 Apr 18, 2021 @ 9:09am
@vengefulancient Awesome, one could say I'm adickted to it!
VengefulAncient  [author] Apr 18, 2021 @ 5:52am
@leojo231094 Absolutely. This should be fully prepared for Dick. I hope you have a lot of fun with Dick and this mod!
leojo231094 Apr 17, 2021 @ 8:33am
Is this ready for Dick? Did you update?
Chairman Meow Nov 4, 2020 @ 6:00am
I'd love to check that for you, but unfortunately Paradox seems to have borked loading mods in general somehow. I should assume it's fine, rest of the files did not look weird to me.
VengefulAncient  [author] Nov 2, 2020 @ 11:32pm
Could be that Paradox changed something about mod structure without bothering to inform anyone properly. Does the mod works now that I've removed the problematic line, though? :terminal:
Chairman Meow Nov 2, 2020 @ 9:35am
I think it should be optional too, but the error.log was complaining about the mod, stating that it couldn't find the files. So I guess it doesn't quite ignore it?
VengefulAncient  [author] Nov 2, 2020 @ 2:57am
Removed path from descriptor.mod - Stellaris wiki claims [stellaris.paradoxwikis.com] that it should be ignored, but since it's optional, might as well just remove it. At least it works without it nowadays, unlike back when I've first created the mod.
VengefulAncient  [author] Nov 1, 2020 @ 3:17pm
@Chairman Meow My apologies, I'm the one who jumped to conclusions here, thinking it's the usual "oh no the mod version is wrong!" report. You're technically correct, but this has never been a problem until now, and *not* having this path in the descriptor file caused the mod to not work at all. Sorry for that, and thank you for bringing this up - I will look into it later today.
Chairman Meow Oct 31, 2020 @ 7:05pm
No, the descriptor is faulty because it points to a path on your local computer instead of a path in the mod itself. Meaning the game can't actually find the files when the mod is not on your computer.

Nonetheless, it does appear the crash is caused by a bug that PDX introduced when loading mods that is popping up for people. So while it does not cause the crash, the game will still complain about it and not find the files.
VengefulAncient  [author] Oct 31, 2020 @ 8:06am
Please don't jump to conclusions.

The descriptor file was not "faulty", the mod merely had a warning because it targeted version 2.7.x and the game just got updated to 2.8. This doesn't mean the mod stopped working (in fact, it haven't, I just checked).

Updated the version to 2.8.x, should take care of the warning.
Chairman Meow Oct 30, 2020 @ 6:10pm
Appears to crash the game due to a faulty descriptor file.
VengefulAncient  [author] Oct 23, 2020 @ 8:25am
@Nebukadnezar666 It should be, in theory, since it does not modify any files that alter the game balance. (That's assuming Paradox didn't change how achievements are tracked)
Argun ıYı Oct 23, 2020 @ 7:19am
is it achievement compatible?
VengefulAncient  [author] Sep 27, 2020 @ 3:15pm
@Brandon Very glad to hear that! Still don't get how a simple version update could have caused this, but at least there's a solution now. :Diplomat:
Brandon Sep 27, 2020 @ 2:06pm
@vengefulAncient Quick update. It works now! So I did what you suggested, and also made sure I validated the files after I unsubscribed and again after I re-subscribed.

Just for your into turned out there were several files during verification that had to be moved or something. Also when I relaunched this mod was at the last "Load Order" in the launcher. Not sure if any of these two things were a factor but it works now.

Anyways thanks again appreciated the help.
Brandon Sep 27, 2020 @ 1:35pm
@vengefulAncient sure will do. Just to make sure you mean try to unsubscribe on the other mods or this one?
VengefulAncient  [author] Sep 27, 2020 @ 10:49am
@Brandon I've installed all your mods and UNIP flag still shows up without problems. Could you please try unsubscribing, waiting for a bit to make sure that ugc_1428974811.mod is gone from your Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod folder, then re-subscribing and trying again? Apologies in advance if you've already tried it, I just can't figure our what can possibly be conflicting here...
VengefulAncient  [author] Sep 27, 2020 @ 7:20am
This is sooooo weird. The only "update" I did is literally changing the version number in the mod configuration file - apologies for not doing more often, it's just that I don't play Stellaris myself nowadays - but some of my friends do and according to them, Paradox didn't change anything about how flags work. It's a very simple mod, too. *And* it works for me both either as a locally created mod or a subscribed mod. I will of course try installing the mods @Brandon listed, and see if anything in them conflicts... still extremely weird that a simple version update would somehow cause this. I blame the new Stellaris launcher, its modding tools are even more stupid than in the old one >_<
Brandon Sep 26, 2020 @ 5:53am
@vengefulAncient Sure thing. So I have all the DLC's installed, and the 8 mods I have are; (1) Sins of the Prophets: Stellaris, (2) Buildable Executor-Class Star Dreadnought, (3) (-United Sci-Fi Races-), (4) ISBS - Livings Systems, (5) !Resurrection - ISBS Living Systems, (6) Epic Explosions, (7) Stronger Orbital Bombardment. The 8th one being this one.

As far as I know none of the other mods have been updated recently.

Also awesome mod thanks for putting the time to make it!
Bladedcascade Sep 25, 2020 @ 12:56pm
@VengefulAncient i'm having the same problem as Brandon with the flag not showing up and the slot for the flag being gone as well. i have all the DLC for Stellaris and have a few mods installed but i havent added or removed any of them before your mod stopped working. it is likely something involving your work on the mods newest update.

By the way i love the mod and thank you for making it :steamhappy:
VengefulAncient  [author] Sep 25, 2020 @ 5:22am
@Brandon Thank you for letting me know and sorry for the inconvenience. Could you please give me more details - I assume you have the latest version of Stellaris, but how about the DLCs and other mods? The flag works for me - I don't have any DLCs but I'm also not sure what could possibly conflict with them.
Brandon Sep 25, 2020 @ 4:38am
Hi just to let you know the flag doesnt show up for me anymore since you updated yesterday
VengefulAncient  [author] Sep 24, 2020 @ 4:38am
Updated to remove the pesky red flag from 2.7.* and thank you for the award :LIS_butterfly:
T O M A Z I N I Sep 14, 2020 @ 4:17pm
a mod with the elders should be made
VengefulAncient  [author] Mar 17, 2020 @ 10:17am
@tilarium Thanks for confirming that :) Normally very simple mods like this don't break between versions since the directory structure is unchanged, but it's been a long time since I've played Stellaris, so I wouldn't have been surprised if it *did* break.
tilarium Mar 17, 2020 @ 2:58am
Before anyone asks, this is fine to use in 2.6 and Federations.
VengefulAncient  [author] Jun 13, 2019 @ 4:38pm
@Carabiner96 I can look into it at some point soon. Meanwhile, please check that it *actually* doesn't work - I'm not aware of any changes to the empire creation that would break it, and the warning in the mod manager doesn't actually mean the mod won't work. Try it. I will update the version to remove the warning, but chances are it works otherwise.
Carabiner96 Jun 13, 2019 @ 2:41pm
Can this be made compatible with the most recent version of the game?
VengefulAncient  [author] Dec 15, 2018 @ 7:41am
Glad to hear it :D
Dr.Vogel Dec 14, 2018 @ 2:00am
@VengefulAncient Thank you so much, it is indeed working properly now.
VengefulAncient  [author] Dec 13, 2018 @ 12:53pm
Never mind that - figured it out (forgot the thumbnail picture while the .mod file referenced one). I wish I could just use 2.x as the version number to avoid having to update it for this reason again, but Stellaris launcher removes the version line altogether unless I use 2.2.x. Hope it works now, please report if the ! is still there.
VengefulAncient  [author] Dec 13, 2018 @ 12:48pm
@Dr.Vogel Gladly, thanks for reminding. I hate it when other modders can't be bothered to do this :P However, Stellaris launcher is being its usual unhelpful self with "error uploading mod" - I'm not on my main PC which has the mod's original folder right now, so I'll just play it safe and upload once I'm on it (might take a few days since I'm waiting for a screen replacement). Sorry for the inconvenience, meanwhile.
Dr.Vogel Dec 12, 2018 @ 8:07pm
Could you please change the required version? I know that it's probably working with the new update, considering it's such a small change, but the red exclamation point is really annoying.
TheGreatMaxwell Jul 10, 2018 @ 6:45pm
@Popcorn Colonel that is why a Terran Empire >>> United Nations
PusakIsCat Jul 9, 2018 @ 12:13am
popcom colonel. lmao!
Popcorn Colonel Jul 8, 2018 @ 8:33am
In my current game, I conqured and enslaved the United Nations. They hadn't established a single colony, had four total corvettes with low tech, and were a pushover on the ground. I guess they were just sitting around issuing resolutions to themselves. I laughed because it was perfectly in keeping with reality.
