how can I slow down the rate of speed?

Great, would be good to have better options to control speed and load more fonts (Consolas for example)

pretty good but a few issues:

1) enabling japanese characters makes the text like 90% japanese characters regardless of whatever other character types you selected. it would be nice if there was a slider to adjust the frequency of each type (like as a percentage of total text).

2) the matrix code in the movie has a couple features that are missing here. one is that the tails contain random small gaps where no characters appear. yours doesn't have any gaps.

another is that random characters in a tail occasionally get stuck on the way down. these characters stay stuck in place until the next tail in that column overwrites its position.

3) would be nice if there was a bold option for the text

chance of being an uppercase letter, and a 50% chance of being either a 0 or a 1. or 25% for 0, and 25% for 1. I would have added Japanese to my preset if this was the case, because I like the way the characters look. But I don't want nearly every character that shows up to be a Japanese character, since that would more or less nullify my font choice as the Japanese (and especially Chinese characters) mostly aren't affected by for example the Impact font at all.

Oh yeah I guess I could add that the character sets options are not proportional to the amount of character sets selected. because if I select all the character sets except for Chinese and Japanese, it's mostly balanced in which characters show up, but as soon as I select Chinese and/or Japanese, I almost only get characters from that/those character sets (Mainly just Chinese characters if I have selected all of the available character sets). My guess is that the available character set options just adds all characters from the character set to a single list of possible characters to use where every character has the same probability of being used, which puts the character sets with a lot of characters at an unfair advantage in showing up. I would suggest implementing an alternative system where every character set has an equal probability of having a character from said set to be chosen, so if you have "Letters uppercase" and "Binary" selected, the characters chosen would have a 50%

Great wallpaper, but yeah.. Just as lomax.killough below me mentioned, the "Change Characters Randomly" setting stops working when used on a monitor in the vertical position. I have noticed that it stops randommly switching in different locations depending on the font size, so my guess is that it is only capable of switching a certain amount of characters or something? I would have the option on if it worked properly on my vertical side monitor as it would have looked even better, but since it just stops randomizing the characters at a certain point it just creates a straight line where it stops, which isn't as pretty as just having the option off. Would love to have this fixed, because otherwise it's a great wallpaper

Hey just wanted to let you know when i used it on a vertical monitor the characters changing randomly stops two thirds the way down the screen. Otherwise i love this background!

can you allow for custom fonts to be used, as well as custom sets of characters?

@128byte, love this version, by far the best one out there, but could we maybe get mobile support for this (android)? Maybe add in some mouse-move/touch effects too? :)

Hello @128byte, loved your wallpaper, just a question, any way or plan that you allow us to include a custom png in the center of screen, so we can add our custom logos on top of the characters rain, I would love to use my avatar logo this way. Congrats for the wallpaper and thanks for your time and effort on this, regards.

@lickarock88: Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't even know this was a thing. I will look into this at a later stage, but it is difficult for me to implement as I do not have iCue-compatible devices to test this feature out.

I love this wallpaper, but I wish it carried over to my case and peripherals with iCue lighting effects.

@128byte: I'm running W7 latest patch, german. I plan on switching to linux soon though, hope it's fine there aswell.

@Shadow dream: Depending on the version of Windows and the region you have set Windows to different fonts are installed. In your case it seems like you are missing a proper font to render those chinese/japanese characters. May I ask what version of Windows you are on and which languages are installed?

When I set characters to be chinese or japanese, I often get those "could not display" boxes, that usualy appear when displaying a character unknown to the computer or unknown in this font format. How do you reccomend to fix this?

Looks very nice but if the font size is below 10 its lagging (only the wallpaper, not the pc)

@themightyredninja: Thanks for pointing out this issue. I am currently working on a solution so that initial waves will be spread more. The updated version will be uploaded later today.

This is almost perfect but for the fact that after the first burst of "raindrops" it doesn't spread them out evenly. It takes about 10 minutes for the variation to be randomized enough that there are no more waves of new "raindrops".
