An important note about those body armor pieces I mentioned btw is that quality for them doesn't affect the positive buffs they provide aside from armor, so you can buy cheap prototype tier for them and be just fine.

Oh, well Gi s are terrible for that--however, your best bet early on is to grab either assassin's rags or thief rags and use those for the stealth and stat buffs. learn to do KOs on starvers, they're some of the least likely things to outright slaughter you. From there, work your way towards getting ahold of a standard or higher quality leather shirt/turtleneck for your earlygame chest underarmor, and some shoddy or higher drifter's boots for foot armor--or wooden sandals for a speed buff. Play like the nobody you are at the start, then you can branch into what you'd like to become once you get around 10-15 around the attribute block. Past that, find your weapon of choice, gather companions you like(or don't), then go around and explore the map. learn the hazards of an area, save whenever you see yourself going to a new spot, and don't be afraid to reload at all, ironman runs are very difficult even for advanced players.
