How do I automate fishing? They catch fish but never take any out to put into the fish pile or the dry rack so that the fishing pole is free to use to catch another fish.
Mook Feb 5, 2024 @ 3:23pm
Hello, was just wondering how I can get people to deposit the cooked grand fish? They just cook it until full and leave it there. I am a bit newer to automation :lunar2019piginablanket:
Gork Apr 15, 2023 @ 11:57am
the drying rack of grand fish produces dried fish without fish
Everyone's #1 Fangirl Dec 31, 2022 @ 7:10pm
Awesome, thank you. I just didn't know if it did or not.
lizardmang Dec 31, 2022 @ 6:14pm
Yeah, it still works. If you have trouble finding the blueprint, you can research it at a bench instead. But it shows up in travel shops pretty frequently in my experience.
Everyone's #1 Fangirl Dec 31, 2022 @ 5:18pm
Does this mod work still?
KirrieD Oct 25, 2022 @ 10:10am
Hi author, I decided to create my own build on Kenshi and I want to ask if I can take your mod for my own purposes?)
trm Feb 8, 2022 @ 9:26am
Can't find the blueprint in any shop. Is this mod still working?
lizardmang Jan 9, 2022 @ 10:48am
@bigcool3571 You need to purchase the Simple Fishing blueprint (found wherever Simple Fishing items are sold), which adds all of the items from the mod to the Camping category in the build menu. You can then "build" the fishing pole, using the fishing pole item as the material.
bigcool3571 Jan 9, 2022 @ 3:55am
Hi, this is a great mod, question tho (a dumb one) how do you use the fishing rod?
I'm standing right next to a pond/river and i'm clicking everywhere, but i got no option to use it, do i have to build something first?
lizardmang Jul 16, 2021 @ 4:00pm
@CamoLegs Did you import your save after subscribing to the mod? If not, it will take a day or so for new items to appear. Also, if you have other mods that add items to travel shops, it may reduce the odds of them having a particular item at any given time.
CamoLegs Jul 16, 2021 @ 1:34pm
Halp: cant find nets in any of the travel shops :'(

I can't seem to find rods/nets anywhere, where should I be looking?
Vintage Jan 17, 2021 @ 12:31pm
Great idea, improvement on Crow's in terms of asset usage, but the grand fish drying rack doesn't take an input so it just keeps making dried fish.
Kowalth Dec 25, 2020 @ 7:15am
The idea is good, but it is way to outdated and abandoned.

can you make the fishing blueprint cost money? it seems a little weird it doesn't cost anything
Leithal--Weapon Nov 5, 2019 @ 7:02pm
Pictures and a video so I know what I am getting please I see the picture you put up but I want to see it in action. Are their fishing motions and movements does the rod shake? Most people won't get things without videos and pictures and right now I'm trying to pick the best damn fishing mod that their is but they all seem to leave out pictures or videos yours does not but it doesn't show catching the fish. Sorry to be a bother.
Bjornoid Mar 31, 2019 @ 5:26am
Hey, rather nice mod, but it seems that prices of items are kind of off... In my last playtrough, thinfish was 400ish cats worth, grandfish was 200ish, and dried was 200ish. Meaning that non dried thinfish was more valuable than dried variant of it?
blot Dec 13, 2018 @ 11:55am
You got a mod conflict somewhere Turnop.
Sverd Dec 8, 2018 @ 7:31pm
Mod just staight up doesn't work... all fishing equipment requires 1 building material instead of rods or nets, and neither rods nor nets can actually be interacted with when built.
Pyrithe Oct 22, 2018 @ 8:41pm
Could be a couple possible explanations, are they going into a backpack and anyone hungry nearby? Another possibility is that someone else is grabbing them on an autohaul job like for putting away food and just beating you to it? I've never even used the Pile of Fish, never seen a reason too, I just fish it, dry it, put it away, but I might set one up just to see if I can replicate the issue.
Artophwar Oct 22, 2018 @ 3:49pm
When I take the fish out of the Pile of Fish they dissappear from my inventory.

I can fish them and store them in my inventory right from the Net and Rod, and they will be placed in the Pile of Fish for storage, but if I want to remove them from the Pile of Fish they dissappear from my inventory as soon as I close the Inventory window. They just vanish as if they never existed, no where in my inventory or the Pile of Fish storage anymore. Anyone else experience this?
Eri Oct 7, 2018 @ 3:33am
Hi, this may seem like a really novice question.. how do you actually catch fish?
Rhunin Jun 7, 2018 @ 1:03pm
no worries, just realized it was auto making fish and not using fish i put into it so i thought id bring it up XP nice mod other than the immersion hit the bug causes ;)
saftsuze  [author] Jun 7, 2018 @ 12:24pm
@ChevalierXLIV Thanks for letting me know! I'll look into that. (A busy life at the moment, though).
Rhunin Jun 5, 2018 @ 11:13am
so found a bug ^_^ the fish racks produce dried fish without you putting grand fish in them :) and the grand fish takes absolute ages in 50% water even if im fishing out of water (following lore) ;P
Mr.Taco Jun 2, 2018 @ 12:24pm
you could tie the skill to a lock picking style where you have a chance to fail catching something like you do when you are lock picking :Pcould try adding maybe an animation for reeling in and make the catching faster but with a penalty to catching something when you are able to equip the rod in your weapon slot but of course that will be put on hold until the dev releases the game tools. Fly fishing would be fun to implement in the future but lets not turn kenshi into a sim game hahahaha.......or could we.....? >:D
saftsuze  [author] Jun 1, 2018 @ 3:17pm
@CATman4L :D Enjoy!

*sits in the deadlands fishing* you can't stop me >:3
saftsuze  [author] May 27, 2018 @ 7:22am
UPDATE:
* Oups! Last update made the Rod and Net free buildings. Fixed it. You now again need an actual Fishing Rod and a Fishing Net in your in your inventory to build them.
* Also, cosmetical change: The drying rack for the puny Thinfish is now smaller than the rack for the Grand Fish.
saftsuze  [author] May 25, 2018 @ 12:08pm
Feel free to rage over the speed of fishing. That's pretty much my real life experience with fishing. So it's a super realistic feature :D
saftsuze  [author] May 25, 2018 @ 12:02pm
UPDATE:
* Added blueprint to allow for learning to fish without having a research bench. (I need to playtest this! Might be it is not working as I think it is, if that is the case another update will come.)
* Tweaked the time it takes to fish. It is very slow now. Better build a farming base if you want a steady reliable source of food. Fishing is now mostly for the desperate wanderer.
* Tweaked the time it takes to dry the fish. It is a really painfully slow now. Boring like watching fish dry, as they say. But then again: You get more nutrition from your fish automagically! (It must be something in the air). Drying fish is for the temporary long term campsite. Or a base.
* Tweaked the balance of how much Dried Fish you get from the Grand Fish.
* The fishing equipment has no longer a construction time. They are already a thing in your inventory, you just need to throw it into the water or quickly set it up. (I think camp beds should work this way as well, btw).
saftsuze  [author] May 25, 2018 @ 11:29am
@Pyrithe Yeah, I would have to use farming as skill (it is already farming skill being used in the soon to be published update. This mod is not strictly nomadic themed, as much of what I am working on is, but rather a simplistic way of adding fishing as close to vanilla as possible. A "Koi-pond" with Thinfish would absolutely fit the Kenshi theme and make it fun to build a base near water. Maybe this farm-version would be the base-building-part of this mod. I'll ponder a bit. Pun so very much intended :D
Pyrithe May 25, 2018 @ 7:16am
To do that, I would think you'd need to add a fishing skill, but from what I read from other modmakers, adding skills is impossible. Unless you are planning to tie it in with another skill, but farming would be the closest I can think of. Although, a fish "pond" might not be such a crazy idea, where you treat it like a field. 10 fish, farming skill, and let them grow like crops. Farm them up and then let them replenish. Not good for the nomadic lifestyle, but it could be an interesting idea for a new mod or added into this one.
saftsuze  [author] May 25, 2018 @ 4:09am
Hehe, no, I would have to tweak it more than that. But I think it would be cool if you sometimes failed to get a fish from the net. But as I said: Long term idea :)
The Raptor Factor May 25, 2018 @ 4:04am
The farm mechanic? You mean throw fish in a "pond" that requires resources to produce more fish over time?
saftsuze  [author] May 25, 2018 @ 3:55am
@Terminarch Thanks for a lot of specific and good feedback! Yeah, the efficiency tied to water is sort of strange, but as close as possible. Just think of certain areas as very empty of fish... Good idea with the blueprint - will add it! And true: Should be quicker setting up (and slower getting fish...). Update coming soon! (I am also trying to figure out if the farm mechanic can be used for the fishing net instad of crafting, could be very interesting, but this is more long term)
The Raptor Factor May 25, 2018 @ 3:44am
Fishing rods can be built indoors...
I like how efficiency scales with water availability but simply it's broken as heck. Beaches have no water which makes sense in a potability way but not in a fishing way. Water is tied to biomes, not land features unfortunately - so as you say no penalty to fishing in the desert.

Could you add a Simple Fishing research blueprint to traveling gear shops? Seems odd that we need to settle down for research in a mod that removes the need to settle down for sustainable food. Also the building times for these new resources is a bit long (but I have another mod that affects that, probably my fault), shouldn't take half a day to set up a fishing line when you already have the pole. Again, counter-intuitive to a nomadic lifestyle.

That aside, these models look great and I'm glad to see this collection coming together!
saftsuze  [author] May 24, 2018 @ 2:11pm
Working on rebalancing the speed of fishing. It needs to be almost painfully slow, but still useful. But a bit less useful than farming.
