Point of Note: This mod "breaks" ApleStormy's Lighter Dragon Loot mod. Not a big deal, just a bit annoying.

I dont know much about mods but it would be nice to have a level mod that lets you know what lvl what is so you know to run or attack. but the 3 mods I added has stopped me from playing lol. I dont have the Dragonborn expantion yet.

This mod works pretty well. I was shocked to see the massive number of things I could smelt. However, it partially breaks the Item Sorting mod. Some things stay renamed but others don't, so sometimes you will see "Iron Ingots" and sometimes they will be "Ingot: Iron."

Recipes redux: the market rate for Gold Ingots is somewhere around 350-400 septims, depending what kind of discount your armor enchantments can get you. One of the recipes sets the cost at 75. That's a game breaker. One could quickly accumulate a vast fortune just playing that arbitrage game. Should adjust that to something like 60% to 75% of market.

More Recipe feedback: I also noticed that Copper Circlets were being used to make Silver Ingots; now, come on, this should not be about magic transmutations.
Someone commented that Corundum is Aluminum. I doubt that. More likely, it's a corruption of Carborundum which IS used in hardened Steels [like maybe Steel Plate]. I mentioned earlier that the Carbon + Iron recipe disappeared. That should be reinstated - that's real.
If you want this to be a fantasy ,so be it. But that detracts from the usefulness of the mod.
I apologize if the examples above don't occur in your mod. I am but a humble gamer not an elite modder, and I cannot not sort out which mod did what. So, I am submitting my comments to both mods.

Smelting Recipe discrepancies [Will likely take a couple pages to do this but here goes ..]
Unless you're going to invoke Transmutation Spells, there ought to be some sense of reality in the recipes. I have a couple of Smelting Mods installed, so I'm not sure which does what now, BUT ... Smelting Imperial Light Armors, Bracers, Boots and Helms will not yield STEEL!! These are LEATHER armors.
Smelting 1 Dagger will not yield a full Ingot of any metal. It likely would take 3 [maybe 2] Daggers per Ingot. I noted a long string of other minor objects, like knives/forks and the like, being used on a 1-for-1 basis to yield Iron or Steel. I'm not in the game now so I can't be specific, but there were other examples of small weapons or armor pieces [maybe boots or gauntlets] being used to yield 2 or 3 ingots. These should not yield more than the original smithing recipe calls for [in reality -where IS that anyway?- there should be some loss, maybe 10-20%, in the recovery rate]

The Steel ingot from iron ore thing is fixed, let me know if there's anything else!

My bad about the steel ingot recipe from iron I'll take a look at it.

Small potential bug under the steel smelting option, normally you get steel ingots from iron ore + cor ore....however there's now a recipe that only uses iron in its recipe.

The problem with this mod isn't the mod itself. It's a great and wonderful and realisitc idea. The game, however, doesn't require the player to make anything more than iron daggers to level smithing from 0-100. What would compliment this mod perfectly would be another mod that only allows a player to gain a few levels total from smithing any one item (5 levels) and set a further limit on how many levels can be gained from smithing from any one armor group (20 levels).

Thanks for the comments, everyone! I'll take a look at this again later tonight and play around with the recipes.
Keshi Feb 24, 2012 @ 2:10am
that is, a chance to get an ingot, not half an ingot ^^
Keshi Feb 24, 2012 @ 2:10am
Maybe instead of requiring 2 daggers to get 1 ingot, you could make it require 1 dagger to get 50% ingot

This is a mod I've been waiting a LONG TIME for, but I'm afraid I agree with Locke that it's a bit overpowered, but I'm still subscribing. Thanks for the mod :)
The Fool Feb 20, 2012 @ 11:30am
This is a tad overpowered. Say I were going to use the iron dagger exploit to get my smithing up, after I crafted all my daggers I could just smelt them and do it again (Leathers strips are incredably easy to find and are quite cheap).

My suggestion would be to make it more for less, like 2 Daggers = 1 ore. That way you could still smelt the useless weapons you find but there would be no exploiting.

Other than that, Well done. I've been waiting for one of these for awhile.

absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing
BentoBlue Feb 19, 2012 @ 8:49pm
Good idea, but i think you should mention how many ingots you get from 1 piece of armour, or your goin to get a lot of questions!

Very nice
